Alright, first, try to get a better computer.
Second, you messed up the positions.
Use pistons for downwards
Or use a downwards kinda like redstone torch tower.
As for command blocks:
First run this command once:
scoreboard objectives add nowire dummy
Command to turn on and off signal:
scoreboard players set @p nowire 1
scoreboard players set @p nowire 0
Command at the output that should be a command block on a clock with a comparator sticking out of it:
8 string and 4 iron actually.
When you have multiple levels, it doesn't work out so well :/
Glowstone only sends power upwards, and not downwards.
If you're doing this in survival, no command blocks.
Could you tell me what this is for?
Pretty string/iron consuming. Nice design though.
I find that trapdoors glitch more than pistons when opening/closing; just saying.
The most compact way would be to use wireless command-block redstone.
You could make a 2x1 glowstone staircase up. Or a 1x1 redstone torch tower. Or a bunch of sticky pistons with redstone blocks on top that power eachother (advantage is there's an instant falling edge).

I think thats because MC piriotises certain directions, many redstone contractions only work when theire placed in a certain direction.
