lollybot: You do know, on average a post is made around every second in the hosting section?
CiritcSquid: It's actually around once every 20 minutes.
*cough* disagree *cough*
Yesterday there were 25,000 posts made on the forum. In a day there are 24 hours, 60 minutes in an hour and 60 seconds in a minute. That makes 86,400 seconds in a day. 86,400 / 25,000 means a post is made once every ~3 seconds, that's the entire forum. The server hosting section has existed for exactly 8 months, since January 03 2011, it has 30,000 posts in it. Maybe my math is wonky, but that points to there being a post once every 12 minutes (I was 8 out). I don't see how 12 minutes can be considered "every second" by any stretch of the imagination. -

Do you live under a rock??
1:We couldn't delete the old post because Lollybot was banned.
2:Contacting an Adminstrator on this forum is like contacting Jesus.
3:We made a new thread because the other one was out-dated. As you can see we use multicraft and not mcmyadmin which is what is advertised on the old one
4:You deleted that one and gave me a warning.
5:I take it on the chin and ask for the new one to get put back and the old one deleted.
6: Your Administrator doesn't say anything else, even after I asked him for it to be done, but he just sais nothing and does nothing. Like he doesn't even reply with a "no" or "sorry that can't be done" He just ignored it.
7: I make this thread because it is what I am feeling and I'm not putting up with it anymore, it's disgraceful. And I know how to deal with customers/people and I do a good damn job of it and you can ask all of my customers how much I interact and help and it keeps them happy.
There's your lineup. That's what has happened.
Thanks for the explanation.
It is very easy to contact an administrator here, we have a section called "Help -- Contact the forum staff" which currently has around 1,000 topics, only 2 haven't been replied to and they were made in the last hour. If you make a post there you should be responded to within a few hours. Link to the section for future reference: http://www.minecraftforum.net/forum/64-help-contact-the-forum-staff/ it's just below this one in the list.
As I said above, please can I have the name of the staff member you talked to so I can verify the information and work out a solution?

Equeon posted a message on NPC Villages and New CombatInspired by the other thread, I decided to make a post about what I think some of the changes coming in 1.8 should be. Currently I have NPC villages and the new combat system, tell me what else I should do.Posted in: Discussion
What I think the NPC villages should be...
3 new species introduced.
1. Pigmen
2. Goblins
3. Endermen (a lot on these guys)
1. Pigmen
Pigmen would be a primitive tribe-like people. Different villages would be made out of materials like logs and planks, with tribes in certain areas being hostile to ones in other areas. If the player gives them supplies or resources, they tend to add cobblestone or stone additions to their villages. Any quests from the Pigmen generally involve destroying enemy villages, gathering materials, or possibly eradicating a nuisance (infestation of silverfish! the creeper hive!) When the alliance between the player and the pigmen villages gets to a certain level, the pigmen would leave gifts of chests with some items like iron, logs, or pumpkins and fish near the player's house (determined by the location of the home bed.) Unlike what other people may have suggested, Pigmen view their lesser cousins as scum, and will not care if the player harms pigs.
Default Behavior: Friendly
2. Goblins
Goblins would be similar to the Pigmen. Large goblin establishments would be made in wooded areas or underground (possibly both, if the village is large enough) of several different tiers of Goblins (warrior, chief, shaman.) Goblins would be the most expansive species, constantly trying to enlarge their area by conquering enemy Goblin or Pigman towns.
As a battle-savvy species, any quests from the Goblins would primarily involve killing stuff, or perhaps retrieving loot from a dungeon or dragon's lair (if added.) Although generally hostile to each other, it should be possible to get Pigmen and Goblins to work together. Once the "friendliness" level is high enough, the player could recruit Goblins to fight for him.
Default Behavior: Neutral
3. Endermen
Endermen would be shadowy, reclusive creatures. Making small colonies under huge ledges or in the side of cliffs, they would not be seen at all during daylight. At night, they would go around and gather resources. The Endermen would also occasionally build small landmarks around their territory (~6 chunks of their base.) Imagine going out one day and finding a small little pyramid of stone in a field near your house... chilling. The Endermen generally wouldn't stay in one place for too long, so by the time you get the supplies (and courage) to go look for their home, they would have already migrated, leaving only remnants behind.
Endermen themselves, however, do not like humans. Once looked directly at for more than three seconds, these creatures of darkness are able to teleport into any dark area within 20 blocks around them if they are standing in one themselves. This means they can fade away as you turn around a corner or suddenly disappear as they are on low health. Fighting them in their natural habitat would be hell, as you can imagine, so it would be a common strategy to force them into lit areas (they wouldn't dumbly follow the player into light like zombies.)
The only way to befriend them is to give them what they like best: souls. When placing a certain amount of Soul Sand (around 100 total) near their home, if the player is not around they will come out and collect it. Note: it must be in gradual increments of 5-10 at a time! Each block raises their alliance slightly. If finally befriended, the Endermen would occasionally assist the player in various ways. You might be exploring a cave, and suddenly an Enderman teleports in front of you, scaring you out of your wits for a few seconds. It quickly slides over the ground before stopping at a certain point in the cave floor, and points down. You dig at the indicated area, and find several blocks of gold ore! As you climb out of the pit, anxious to find more, you realize that the Enderman is gone.
Endermen drop Dark Essence: a sticky, gooey dark matter that can be crafted like clay balls into Dark Essence blocks. When placed, these blocks add an extra layer like snow on top of whatever they were put on, and it will spread for a maximum of five blocks. When put on the floor, the blocks will stop fall damage. When put on the ceiling, a Cocoon will gradually grow, and can be harvested and smelted for a food source that heals 5 hearts and doubles the player's speed.
Default Behavior: Hostile
What I think the new combat system should be...
New Sword System:
Left Clicking deals a swipe to the left, while right clicking deals a swipe to the right. Holding down either of these buttons will attack with a much slower, but more powerful slice. Since (hopefully) mobs will be able to block against your attacks, as you will against theirs, the different directions will be needed. And if mobs are given more health to accommodate the new changes, the power attack will also be useful.
New Bow System:
As Notch has said, holding right-click will charge a longer range and more powerful arrow shot. Moving while shooting will reduce the aim and damage by 50%. A few new arrow types should also be added, such as Poison Arrow, Fire Arrow, Bomb Arrow, etc. (See Risugami's Elemental Arrows mod.)
New Damage System:
With critical hits implemented, the current mobs should obviously change a little. Attacking legs and arms of the mob will deal minimal damage, about half of what it is now. Attacking the body does a little less than normal, roughly 75%. And attacking the head will do 100% damage. With all of these changes, even a fight against two zombies will be less of a bore, and more of a slight challenge. Each attack, however, has a random chance of a critical hit, doing anywhere from 110% to 200% damage. The critical chance increases depending on the blade: you're more likely to score a critical with an Iron Sword than a Wooden one. More weapons being implemented would also be nice, such as in Balkon's Weapon Mod
http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/211517-173-balkons-weaponmod-v60/#weapons
Spears with a long reach and throwing ability
Halberds with high damage and knockback
Daggers with fast speed and throwing abilities
Crossbows with higher damage and greater accuracy than bows
Plus lots more. Adding more weapons = more variety in PVP, plus more options for you depending on your combat style. Each weapon might work differently against different mobs, too. Slicing a spider with a fast-moving sword would be better than hitting it with a slow-moving battleaxe.

You delete threads and edit posts without even MESSAGING the user in question saying WHY you did so. That's TOTALLY a great way to make said user learn what they missed out on. It's kind of like having a kid, he/she does something wrong and you outright smack the kid in the face without saying why (I do not endorse child abuse, just stating an example).
I always message the user when I delete their post. Normally because if I delete their post, I also am giving them a warning for the post anyways.
If a thread relates to a megathread (like my thread on the Endermen), USE THE MERGE THREAD BUTTON, YOU MORONS. That way you can keep the post the user made, AND shove it into the appropriate thread!
Or, we could lock and direct you to the mega thread. Merging threads isn't ideal. It ends up looking confusing if the threads have overlapping times, because it doesn't just set the new posts on the bottom. It mixes them up and can end up being confusing. Better to have them post again in the already existing thread that they should have posted in anyways.

If the mods are "tired" than the only solution is kicking the tired mods out and replace them with new ones OR hire more mods as to lift the pressure of the others.
A limited mod team on a big forum is never a good idea.
Mods aren't tired. We are busy. Big difference. And hiring more mods isn't that simple either. First, they need to be trusted to enforce the rules, have enough time to moderate, and other factors.
And if it's so "bothersome" on some platforms, then hey - tough luck. They should learn the platform so they know what they're dealing with instead of just ignoring it.
We aren't ignoring it. We are handling everything to maintain a healthy forum. Maybe instead of blaming us for locking your thread and telling you to post it in the mega threads pinned at the top of the page, you should have posted in the mega thread pinned at the top of the page.
Quote from Coyotez
It's not impossible. It's just lazyness for not trying to do anything about it.
Not lazy. Its lazier to not look at the top of the page at the pinned threads.
I'm sorry, what? I never implied they're anyones slave. And I want to know where your definition of "slave" is from, because I'm talking about unfair moderators not doing their jobs right. A slave is someone who does everything you tell them. The mods do as they like, but they still have a duty to follow - one they are very sloppy at following.
No, we follow it perfectly fine. Lock threads that are misplace/duplicates, and redirect them to the mega threads that are pinned so they are easier to find.
"Look up to them."
I can't help but laugh here. I don't need to explain why, you'd know if you read the OP at all.
Some will look up to us, some will bash us for any reason they can find.
I AM complaining intelligently. Did thy not read the OP?
What do you mean uncontrolled anger? I'm controlling it perfectly. At the mod team.
Because a thread you made was in the wrong place and got locked/deleted. Still wouldn't be a problem if you had looked at the pinned threads.
Then no need to feel offended, yes? Do your job right and I won't care.
No need to be offensive for us doing our jobs right.
Well see, if you happen to HAVE read the rules, but MISS megathreads (like me), you'd want to know WHY your thread was deleted without warning.
Yet you missed a thread that is pinned, and didn't search for other 1.8 threads or endermen threads.
And no matter what, A WARNING SHOULD ALWAYS BE ISSUED IF A THREAD IS MISPLACED. We're back at square one, and you are one of the bunch I'd call lazy moderators.
Yep. Square 1. We still aren't lazy, and you are still attacking us.
That's just stupid. The OP is never a reply to anyone, so merging it with a bigger thread doesn't make the megathread anymore confusing than it will already be. And again you just proved how goddamn lazy you are.
The problem is when posts are made at a similar time. It doesn't put the thread at the end, it mashes them together in the order of the posts. So you end up with posts overlapping each other and not making sense. Which is where it gets confusing. Again, not lazy, just trying to keep the forums and threads looking clean. It would be easier if it was posted in the right place originally. -

Theres no way they will. No game I ever played required rebuying it for updates. Imagine having to pay $60 for an update everytime an Xbox game updated
The updates Notch is talking about are more considered as DLC/expansion packs. So like any game with DLC/expansion packs, you'll need to pay for it. -

itwasthatguy posted a message on Terror attack in Oslo, NorwayIf you guys think Muslims are bad... You should see Christians...Posted in: General Off Topic
Remember the crusades? Hundreds of thousands of innocents were all brutally slaughtered. The nice crusaders just killed them quickly. I'd like to quote www.religioustolerance.org.
"Once the army reached Jerusalem and broke through the city walls, they slaughtered all the inhabitants that they could find (men, women, children, newborns). After locating about 6,000 Jews holed up in the synagogue, they set the building on fire; the Jews were burned alive. The Crusaders found that about 30,000 Muslims had fled to the al Aqsa Mosque. The Muslim were also slaughtered without mercy."
Compare this to a few hundred extremists. Muslims don't seem so evil now, do they?
Note: I don't approve of the crusades or modern terrorism at all. I just had to bring this up. - To post a comment, please login.
