Sometimes I'll start a new world, to return to the old roots of Minecraft: survival. That's usually the case when I build my home in MP servers. I download a lot of adventure maps too, and I have my own multiplayer server that I created just so that I could build anything, with as many blocks as I want.
Have you tried Imperial Lands? SlyFox influenced me to do it. and you're multiplayer is like Classic.
Well, I guess this comes down to how you organize your gear and find more supplies, When I play, I only have one goal, get to end the of the world. I've done it on every save file that I have. I usually just start traveling in a direction and don't change directions. So, I usually use iron that I found in caves along the way, and only carry one of each type of tool. I enjoy using flint and tinder as a weapon (lava bucket of I get my hands on one). ( )

Well, besides that, I play on Normal usually and only carry like 64 torches on me and only 64 of each material at most.
The down side, I never find any .
Do you leave you're shelters where they are or gather the materials back, nomad sounds fun, I should try it.
On my current world I like to play on peaceful during the day and during the time that I continue my long, straight lined, 1500+ blocks, mine all on layer 12. However when I'm not mining I putthe difficulty on Hard and just run outside my house and murder everything I can till I die. Most nights I survive and come back safe and sucessful to my house. However if I die, I do not go to pick up my items again. I see dieing (in this particular world, not in general) is just like being knocked out and dragged back to my spawn. That way it seems more real to me rather than dieing and coming back to life.
That's probably the best Minecraft I've heard, other than _illusion's.
I play on peaceful (inb4omgwimp) because I enjoy exploring and building in Minecraft, not dying. I'm always building great homes on cliffs or beaches or deep in the woods. I love exploring caves because I never know what kind of ore I'll find around a corner.
I also play legitly, with no mods what-so-ever. My texture pack though is different, but stays close to the default pack, so I'm okay with it.
