Could someone supply a link to the new thread?

if there even is a new thread. This whole thing is kinda confusing to me

If you are implying that CUBE Inc. 2 is out... I got some bad news. It has been two years in the making; I'd like to have good news about the project, but I'm so sick of Minecraft now. It will happen at some point, but my god I need to move on from this stuff.

That was some lame crap you pulled in Spatial Distortion. You tease.

Oh, and, it might be a good idea for you to change your status to "Waiting on 1.7."

Oh man, that part is so... so old. It isn't even in the map anymore. We replaced it forever ago. So yeah, that stuff has been changed to something 1000% better,

    still In development right?

I'm waiting for 1.7 to release because the features it includes are going to play a fairly large roll in the map. No, not dead. Just a slight break... sorta. I wouldn't say progress is happening at a very fast rate though.

When you have to question your sanity the answer should be pretty self-explanatory. ;)

The issue isn't really because I don't have time (Well, maybe if you look at it in a certain way). I'll be honest, I started making maps when I really didn't have much else to do with my life. My friends couldn't have been more annoying at the time, so I just found something else to pass the time. Then I started CUBE Inc. 2 almost instantly after. Now, this is where the problem starts to split into two completely different reasons.

I'll go with the less interesting reason first. I got a new batch of friends over the last two years. Life has gotten better, and I would like to spend as much time as I can away from the computer to just enjoy my life. I mean, why not? I don't have any desire to completely waste my life staring at some screen for hours on end. So, yeah, it isn't that I am busier now... It is just that I do anything I can to stay busy, and away from the computer.

Second reason. I enjoy the story that I have created for this map. In fact, I enjoy it so much that it has become bothersome how restricted I am when it comes to playing this thing out over Minecraft. I have always had the characters personalities and more really well thought out, but that is an issue trying to convey my ideas onto tons of signs and mysterious voices that you are forced to distinguish from one-another. Then there is the way a lot of the story actually plays out. Every other chapter has some sort of deus ex machina to keep the story "original". Well, without a proper way of telling the story it gets old really fast. I used to write a lot as a kid, and I realized that I could obviously get back into it. That is exactly what I have been doing. I can finally tell this story without making it take place in a world made of blocks.

I don't see this story as taking place in some empty world made of blocks. Heck, the companies name isn't even CUBE Inc. anymore. Look, I'm not trying to make it look like I hate making this map, but it has become really difficult to do what I want with Minecraft, and I want to tell the story how it needs to be told now. No more test chambers, blocks, or a million voices on signs. I'm finally going to tell this without worrying about "TOTAL PORTAL RIPOFF MAN" comments. It just gets tiring to do something I don't really want to do, and now its too late to fix a lot of mistakes I've made.

We are still going to release CUBE Inc. 2. Not sure when. But we will. You have my word. I want to finish this map for you guys. I want to tell this version of the story at least. I am doing this for all of you that have been waiting for this because I know you all still want it. Oh wow, I just rambled for way too long. This whole post is probably pretty incoherent, so my apologies. Anyway, I'm sorry you guys had to learn this way, but this is better then not telling you guys at all. When I get time I'll make an edit on the OP and explain this in a less confusing way. Thanks, again. You guys are the reason I haven't stopped making this yet. Who knows, I may actually get re-interested in making the next map. We'll see. :)

Quite an interesting ride... went from uninterested to semi-optimistic. Cool.

This map seemed really interesting, but all in all, for me and my friend, it was a bad experience. We were running it on a sever, and the issues began there.

    - The spawn coordinates were different, and placed us in the middle of the jungle.
    - The texture pack wasn't working, not until we did a "Convert Texture Pack" through McPatcher, and even then it looks different from the images provided.
    - The text said by the Test Associate and whatnot didn't come through. Since the text couldn't be fully displayed most of the messages were cut off, leaving us to figure out what to do ourselves, pretty much ruining the story, as we never knew *why* things happened.

    That would be our experience.

This map hasn't been updated since the beginning of the year. It really isn't going to work until I get to fixing it which.. I don't know. Eventually. The map also is barely compatible with multiplayer now. I'm too lazy to fix the command block issues. Not like people playing with someone else follows the story very well to begin with.

I would love nothing more than to put this up for download, but school work is just.. insane at the moment. I'm either too busy, or I am doing school work. Incetents is definitely getting more done than I've been able to, but it definitely doesn't work out too well as a one-man project.
I'm not going to say any estimated release date yet. As we know, that hasn't really turned out too well over the past year and a half.

Eh, not really. I can't really say what we are working on without spoiling tons of the story. In all honesty, the only stuff I've really revealed via screenshots (with a few exceptions) have all been from Arc 1 of the story because posting any other screenshots would spoil the story. I wouldn't call that an "update", but I guess it is a nice little fact I thought I would throw out there. Enjoy.

Could you please respect us Mac users and not have the file extension NOT be a .rar? Make it a .zip PLEASE!!!

With all due respect, you can download something called The Unarchiver.
Have fun. Google. Google is amazing.

I just realized how you mentioned in the CUBE Inc. 1 thread that this map will be released in early 2012. This map is really valve-time.

Well, if I took the early-2012 version of the story and the map itself, and compared it to now.... they are two totally different maps. The amount of redoing that has taken place has been immense, and that is why this is taking so long. Like I have said, we want this to be the best it can be. If it takes redoing entire chapters then so be it.

Well, he isn't really that important of a character. At all. He is really just more of a polo device to make CUBE Inc.'s backstory a bit more interesting.
The story sounds awesome! Can't wait to see it! :)

Go for it! The CUBE Inc. story is incredibly detailed down to the last point, so I can't promise it will end up canon, but I would love to see it when you finish it. Best of luck!

Ah, that is quite interesting to hear. Makes me want to play the map ten times earlier :/
Oh well, life can't give you all lemons.
Does the AI who guides you through Cube Inc. have a name? Is it C.I.O.S.? I remember in the forum thread of CUBE Inc. 1 there was something about a C.I.O.S...

I can't reveal too much, now can I?
No, the Test Associate is not the C.I.O.S.
Actually, the C.I.O.S. doesn't come into play until CUBE Inc. 3.
Does the Test Associate have a name? Hmm, maybe? ;)
