I'm not sure I really like this new combat as someone who mainly fights mobs. It seems like as long as you have a shield, you're fine unless you're stupid and you charge into a bunch of mobs. Fighting against one mob just involves holding down your sword unless you want to get a critical hit for whatever reason.

I kinda wish they wouldn't leave the furnace in the game but add tiers to it. Tiers of crafting table are not really Minecraft-y. I like the separation of crafting recipes into different things, but I feel like they should get rid of the old crafting table and the old furnace if those become useless.
It's also just way too easy to craft the new tier from the old tier. As soon as you get 5 iron, you can go from a furnace to a blast furnace immediately. You can upgrade your food production the minute you have logs, i.e. before you get a furnace at all.
I think if there were other recipes the furnace was useful for, I'd be more ok with adding a new furnace tier.

I don't like the idea of having to destroy a biome just to get a rare resource though
True, but then again this is the price you must pay to earn any non-renewable resource. The same could go for Sand and Dirt, which are much easier to find in large amounts on the surface than underground.

I haven't. The rarity of packed ice is what makes ice spikes biomes valuable...
Not everything should be craftable, farmable or automatable. Some resources like packed ice need to be left up to the player to get. If you can just craft packed ice, it's not rare anymore... (It'd be one thing if they added a compressing machine of some kind that required fuel, but just being able to craft a rare resource from a resource that you can get for pretty much free is not my idea of good gameplay design.)

Being Endgame doesn't make them no longer OP, though. Especially in a game that doesn't really end. You mention repairing them, but it's easy to find Mending in the very same generated structure.

I agree, although I also do agree with many of the points in Wolftopia's post. (Note, if you choose to discuss something there, the post is a bit old. Add something constructive if you don't want to be a necroposter.)
Generally, any transportation is broken because Nether portals are infinitely better than all other transportation system... But Elytra are just a little overpowered considering Gunpowder can be farmed and you can enchant Elytra with Mending.

I remember seeing a topic by Wolftopia about how Elytra are very overpowered and need a nerf. I suppose this doesn't fix elytra with Mending, but at least Phantom Membranes are harder to get than Leather.
I do think that the inability to attack with a Riptide Trident on land makes the Enchantment a bit of a curse, though. At the very least on land normal Trident functionality should be used.

WOAH
Only moments before I saw this news, this old Suggestion for a mob with the same name and a very similar concept was necroposted.
My mind is blown.

On SMP maybe but not survival, if they can't find them in the latter then they're really not trying IMO.
On SMP this mob is still going to exist, so whether or not this is a problem in Singleplayer survival, you've just proven my point more. -

Actually, it means that you just have to go to sleep every night..
Which is annoying. The time I spend walking to the nearest bed, sleeping and then walking back could be spent building, mining or exploring. It could potentially encourage players to build more bases than they currently have, but each time you build a base you need to have or find three wool blocks. -

I agree. Sleeping is a way to improve your Minecraft experience, it shouldn't be something that's required like Hunger. (Especially since you can't really sleep everywhere you go unlike with food. You may just have one house with a bed. Heck, what about players that can't find enough string or wool to make a bed?) -

Out of curiosity, why is this week's post labeled "This week in Minecraft -- Saturday" rather than "This week in Minecraft -- December 23rd"?

Has anyone else noticed that in the comparison picture, there were 4 dandelions in 1 block space? Is this a possible new feature, or something I haven't heard about?

While I do think the new cobblestone texture looks cool, it does look just a tad tiring to look at after a while. I can't tell if it's too dark or too bright, though. Maybe it's too contrasted? Best not to have too much contrast on the most common building material in the game...

I can't really say that I support this idea.
Okay, lemme just point out that this has a total of zero uses in singleplayer mode, considering that there are no mobs that steal items from chests, nor will there ever be, considering that mob would be annoying and trollish.
I can't really see a use for this in multiplayer either, though.
If you decided to use this for the sake of keeping items safe from other players: You can't get bedrock in survival mode, and you can mine obsidian with a diamond pickaxe, so they would still be able to get at your stuff, provided you aren't using a block protection plugin. (Which removes the need for having any sort of Vanilla chest protection, anyway.)
Also, I'd think I'd rather just let the greifer get my stuff. He probably deserves his reward, and I may or may not be able to steal it back at some point.

What would "/fill x y z x2 y2 z2 minecraft:[id] replace all" do?

Not everyone plays on a fancy modern computer either.
That's why I use an Ad Blocker. If Ad makers are going to make laggy ads, I will continue to use it until the situation improves.
It's not the solution to the problem, it's a helpful block that has the potential to remove some lag. I never said it was the solution to the problem of frequent lighting updates.
As to whether or not Mojang adds things to be more convenient, I think they do. Before we could use rockets with elytra in 1.11.2, we had to try and shoot ourselves with Punch II bows.

I wasn't talking about lighting glitches, I was talking about lighting updates. When a redstone torch switches on or off, Minecraft has to recalculate the light in the area. On awful laptops like mine, that can cause noticeable frame drops, even with a few redstone torches. (This is especially noticable at night, so I think it has a lot to do with actually rendering light, rather than just calculating it.)
Huh, that's a fair point. I was mostly thinking about the cost of the blaze rods.
Eh, 2 sounds balanced enough I guess... after all, Minecraft does have a height limit.

I'd say at least four... this is a wire, after all.

Actually, you could write a script that will automatically create a stair version of a block for each solid, cube-shaped block. You could also require children of the "Block" class to have a boolean (true or false) value that specifies whether or not the script creates a slab and stair for this block, in the case that you don't want furnace or sponge slabs. But it wouldn't save on block space, though. (Unless you used tile entities, which is what some mods do. But I don't like the idea of using a tile entity for anything as common as a building block.)
0
That's true up until the point where the redstone torches cause annoying lighting updates. As for observer blocks, those can be expensive considering that you require one piece of Quartz for every "wire". (The return of the recipe given in this suggestion hasn't been specified yet, although I'd think it would be something like 1 blaze rod + 2 redstone --> 16 redstone rods.)
Besides, a wire made of observers is just going to look ugly...

Why would a moderator need to keep a player in a position, rather than just kicking them from the server? I don't really see a usecase for this. Besides, if a player is suspended, what's to stop them from simply logging out?
Also, nobody uses ID numbers before, you type in "/give @p minecraft:command_block".
If this is a moderator, why can't they switch to creative mode?
You never said that in your post. I double checked.
Why does that matter? In the event that this is being used for keeping a player in place after he's caused trouble, I don't see why we care if it looks "sloppy".
I can't think of an extreme situation where this is more useful than /kick.

The first suggestion requires either:
1. A huge number of block IDs are used, and the game has to figure out which ones it can put together in one block ID and reuse using block states.
2. Stairs and slabs become tile entities, which is not a good thing if you plan on using a lot of slabs or stairs for your base, or if you use an old potato computer.
3. The block system gets overhauled so that each block is saved with extra bytes, which signify whether the block is a slab or stair or something else. (Which is a cool idea, but would require a lot of work, and means that the size of a Minecraft world on your harddrive becomes much larger, and Minecraft requires much more RAM to play.)
I can agree with crafting benches, furnaces, and sponges. I do think that ore slabs would be useful if Mojang wanted to make caves look more natural, though.

I wouldn't mind a villager that sold sand or dirt in bulk, though, considering that those are not easily renewable resources, and you have to collect them by digging them out of the ground, leaving ugly patches of stone or sandstone where someone needed to dig a lot of sand for their giant glass house.
That being said, though, Villager suggestions require a bit more detail then what you've provided. If you look at the Minecraft Wiki page for Trading, you'll see that all villagers have the exact same trades for their type. (Except for enchantments, and the quantity of emeralds involved.)

Mostly Support.
Two things that I'd like to see though:
1. I think the texture for the rod should look just a tad less like the end rod. Probably just a bit thicker.
2. Just to make sure that this doesn't make redstone wire completely redundant (Yes, the crafting recipe is more expensive, but people can still get around that.) I would suggest making the rod only send a signal vertically.
1
But... You are suggesting a command in the first place... So if command blocks are disabled, why would players be allowed to use commands?
If you are allowed to use commands, you can just use

At first I was expecting a badly done suggestion, that would be either useless or overpowered, but I actually like this suggestion. Now I don't have to get a hundred seeds from clearing out an area for construction. My only problem with suggestions for new tools is that the player will quickly run out of space in the hotbar for blocks and items.
Mostly Support.
Although, could you please make the title not be in all caps, and not put every paragraph in spoilers? It makes it a pain to read.
