I have tried both the vanilla launcher and magic launcher and get the same results each time, I've also uninstalled minecraft all together and re-installed it but the same thing keeps happening. Jan 17, 2013If you wanna test it out you can just quickly hop on this server i made it on and ill show you it and let you try it out and help improve it. The IP is mc.uppercraft.netPosted in: Redstone Discussion and Mechanisms
Jan 17, 2013Well, It does work properly with a few minor flaws which could be fixed but would take up more space, and as I said I'm quite a noob at redstone so what do you mean by "What process am i looking at here?"Posted in: Redstone Discussion and Mechanisms
Jan 17, 2013Hello, I'm fairly new to redstone and have just begun toying around with it, and today i got a little bored so i was looking on the forums as combo locks and saw they are all pretty much the same and not to compact. So i toyed around for a little bit and made this. Even though I'm a total noob at redstoning I'm aware that this isn't as good functionality wise as other more traditional ones due to the fact that I am using the new feature of locking repeaters added in 1.4. I'm aware that it is not nearly as good functionality wise, and that there are thousands of mistakes in it probably but was wondering if this is one of the most compact combination locks or if there are any improvements i could make?Posted in: Redstone Discussion and Mechanisms
Also, the combination for this one is bottom right, bottom left, top right, and top left. I'm aware that you need to do it within a certain time frame due to the method of locking the repeaters. however, i tried to time the delay on the repeaters to correspond with the average pace a person would click the button. I also know that you can first do the bottom half and have a pause between the next top half, so there is a lot of free space kindof. Also, once again im going more for compact not functionality.
Jan 15, 2013Yes, there is a way to start and stop again an infinite lop without breaking any blocks in the process. As a matter of fact there are a few. These are the two most used ways by me.Posted in: Redstone Discussion and Mechanisms
This first way requires less materials, and is more compact but it may not be suitable for the job you want it to perform. This one is also only compatible with Minecraft version 1.4 or higher. This is when the ability to "Lock" a redstone repeater was introduced. A repeater can be locked when a current is powered in to the side of that repeater. This stops the current and makes the repeater no longer able to be given a current through. You can tell when a repeater is locked because there will be a bar with the texture of bedrock across the repeater indicating it is locked. There could be some problems with this one, because if the repeater you wish to lock is being powered at the time it gets locked, it will stay powered.
This second one is my preferred method, regardless of it being less compact and requires more resources. The circuit is cut off when the sticky piston is powered and then the block attached to the sticky piston goes over the 1x1 hole with redstone at the bottom, This no longer allows the current to travel through because the redstone pieces aren't connected, but still doesn't break any pieces of redstone. Also this one doesn't have the same problem as the other method because when the block goes over the 1x1 hole it stops the current in its track, regardless if it was being powered before the interference like the other.
Sorry if i had caused any unnecessary confusion by attempting to explain this. Hopefully it will be much clearer and make more sense once you see the picture tutorial I had made. Also if you have any more questions feel free to pm me!!!
