posted a message on Locked Door With Signed Book For Key?

The only way I can think of to check for a written book that is not already created is by using the /execute command like this:
    /execute if entity @p[nbt={Inventory:[{id:"minecraft:written_book"}]}]

Without using commands, the only thing you could do is have an item deposit place that doesn't have any filter on it, but that would allow players to put any item in.

posted a message on Execute with setblock not working

Is this in MC 1.13 without any plugins or mods? The command works fine for me, but maybe remove the "as @p" part and see if that helps, as in this context it isn't needed.

posted a message on Redstone Computer: Storage Capacity counter

To deal with a number that's over 1,000,000 you'd need to be able to store and display a 20 bit number. That's just the lowest, and is only about a million.

posted a message on I need to fix “failed to execute “testforblock” as dirt”

I'm not sure what you're trying to accomplish here, since that command would check if a dropped piece of dirt is in the same block as a mob spawner, which is not possible. If you're trying to check if it's on top of one then the command

    /execute @e[type=item,name=dirt] ~ ~ ~ testforblock ~ ~-1 ~ mob_spawner 0

    seems to work

posted a message on HELP: Enchanting Stick [SOLVED]

Some Spigot plugins, like EssentialsX, interfere with the selectors of some commands (the @p that you are trying to use for example). You can set it in the config to not mess with them. Or if you're just wanting to give it to certain players without needing a command block that does @p, you can just use player names in its place.

Sorry for the late reply, I've been away for a while.

Edit: Here's a document that I made a while ago when I was helping with a possibly similar issue on a server I play on. If this is the same problem, doing this should prevent any future issues with this.

posted a message on Comparing two blocks relative to the player and an entity

If you're wanting to check if they're the same block, I can't think of an easy way to do it. The only thing I can think of is having a scoreboard value for every block and then comparing results of several execute if commands.

posted a message on Execute if command stays triggered after button depress

If you're just needing it to run a single command, then I'd recommend just using a command like this:

/execute if entity @p[nbt={SelectedItem:{id:"minecraft:item"}}] run command

However, since it's a shop it'll probably need more than that, so I'd recommend having the command block do this command:

/execute if entity @p[nbt={SelectedItem:{id:"minecraft:item"}}] run setblock coords minecraft:redstone_block

Then at the coords of your choice, have multiple command blocks next to where the block will be set that run all the commands you need as well as one with:

    /setblock coords minecraft:air

This will remove the redstone block and let the stuff be run again.

This system does have some issues such as if the first command block is activated too quickly it won't work every time, but it's the best I can think of.

posted a message on [1.13+] Protect region in Vanilla survival mode using command blocks

The command would be more like

/execute positioned (coords of center of area) run gamemode adventure @p[distance=..(radius of area)]

Just replace the stuff in the () with the number that would apply

posted a message on [1.13+] Protect region in Vanilla survival mode using command blocks

A possible solution is just extending the area of the adventure mode area so that none of the blocks in the desired area can be reached.

Alternatively a repeating command block with a kill command on items in a certain area would be able to delete the drops, but this would also delete any items players drop on accident in that area as well.

posted a message on Can someone help me make a working scoreboard bank in 1.13?

After a bit of messing around and learning how to read player inventories, this might be something like what you're looking for.

First, you'll want to run these to do some setup.

    /scoreboard objectives add Balance dummy

    /scoreboard objectives add Worth dummy

/scoreboard players set Gold Worth 100

/scoreboard players set Diamond Worth 500

For the deposit of gold (labeled 1), use this command.

    execute if entity @p[nbt={Inventory:[{id:"minecraft:gold_ingot"}]}] run setblock 106 76 186 redstone_block

For the actual depositing (labled 2), use these.

    clear @p gold_ingot 1

scoreboard players add @p Balance 100

    setblock 106 76 186 air

For withdraw of gold (labeled 3), use this.

    execute if score @p Balance >= Gold Worth run setblock 106 76 184 redstone_block

For the actual withdrawal (4) use these.

scoreboard players remove @p Balance 100

    give @p gold_ingot

    setblock 106 76 184 air

For buying a diamond (5), use this.

    execute if score @p Balance >= Diamond Worth run setblock 106 76 182 redstone_block

For the actual purchase (6) use these.

scoreboard players remove @p Balance 500

    give @p diamond

    setblock 106 76 182 air

You'll want to customize the location of the setblocks and any prices. To add more items, just add them to the worth objective and create another set of command blocks.

posted a message on 1.14 update for Mac

The 1.14 update is still in its "snapshot" phase, which means that it is still in development. It may take another couple of weeks before it gets into its "pre-release" stage, and then after that it will be longer before it is fully released.

However, if you would like to play with these features while they are in development, open the "Launch Options" tab of the game launcher, click the "Enable snapshots" slider, click the "Add New" button in the profile list, set the new profile's version to the latest snapshot, and save the profile. After that, just launcht he game with that profile from the main launcher menu.

posted a message on Question about timing of 2 observers facing each other

As far as I can tell by messing around a bit with placing observer clocks different ways with droppers, it is entirely related to the piston moving the observer in front of the other. My theory is that this initial movement causes the observer to output a pulse, and then it pulses again when the observer in front of it updates, as the same happens to the other observer, causing them both to update every tick instead of every other tick as they would normally, but that's just my theory based on what I've seen in a few minutes of testing.
