Bruschev posted a message on Microsoft/Mojang Deal Confirmed.
    Quote from KoboldGiraffe»

Whoa, I totally forgot about that being said... That'll be something that we'll need to address Microsoft with.

It is something worth talking about, I have a suspicion that it might already be void (?) though haven't seen anywhere confirm or reaffirm it.

    Quote from _Maltheus_»

I'm fairly certain that the intent here is not to keep on releasing free updates forever, but to come out with a Minecraft 2 (which won't have any such promises attached).

It will be something of interest if they do charge for updates on the Minecraft, as there will be customers like myself who have purchased with the belief that all future update/expansions/etc. will be free.

    Season Pass anyone? Hahaha

Bruschev posted a message on Microsoft/Mojang Deal Confirmed.
I've posted this else where, but not sure it has been addressed, for those of us who brought the game in pre-alpha/alhpa there was a 'promise' I guess you could say, that future add-ons and expansions would be free to those customers.

    http://notch.tumblr.com/post/2175441966/minecraft-beta-december-20-2010

"We will also change the license to remove the line that promises all future versions of the game for free. Please note that this change only affects people who buy the game after December 20, so if you got the game for during alpha, you will still get all future updates for free, despite this change. A promise is a promise. "

this was taken from the purchase page.

    "Here's what you get:
You never have to pay again! You get all future versions of the game, including all expansions and addons.
You help fund the development of Minecraft
    Custom skins in multiplayer
Once you've bought the game, it's yours. No DRM, you can do whatever you want with it.
    Survival mode!

    Planned expansions:
Zombie Siege Build your defenses during the day, fend off the incoming masses during night.
Capture the Flag Defend your base and flag against the enemy team while trying to steal their flag.
Various custom level mods Want to import a doom map? How about playing in a random dungeon?
    And more! "

it is incredibly vague and isn't truly defined, but I am only curious as I did buy it with this in mind. Would Microsoft still honor this if they create any additional add ons/expansions.

Fair enough challenge, they are best to accept it, its the only chance they have at getting Mojang to change the name. I really can't see Bethesda winning this case FAIRLY in a court.

Definitely with you on this, I think Bethesda has engaged in a frivolous task which most likely won't go anywhere, will just wait and see. I always thought that Mojang and Bethesda had a reasonable amount of respect for each other..

Bruschev posted a message on [Official] Microsoft has Bought Mojang and a message from Notch.
Well, this was written quite a while ago, my thought is if Microsoft make additions which people who brought the game with the promise any such addition/expansion would cost extra, would they be be encroaching on that "alpha" clause.

My only question is what happens to those of us who brought the game pre-alpha/alpha where all future add-ons and expansions of the game are to be free?

span style="text-decoration: underline;">* You never have to pay again! You get all future versions of the game, including all expansions and addons.

The bolded point is what I refer to, included the other just for that lane o memories.
