I haven't played in a while, but I just downloaded the latest version and I noticed that the paintings are no longer animated and the connected textures don't seem to be working (animated blocks and items still work though). Is this a problem with the game, the mod, or the pack?

with the addition of loot_tables in 1.10

we can make the mobs drop what ever we set it for. so we can make hugatrons sometimes drop gears

also i think this addition points to one of the next few updates to allow crafting_tables changes.

with that we could make a new game,(this isn't kan.. minecraft anymore).

Wait, wait, wait, what? Resource packs have the ability to rewrite the loot tables now?

Maybe like mutant animal skins or salvaged plate metal or something? A scavanged riot shield, perhaps? The side of an old (small) shipping crate? A car door (pounded flat)? A cabinet door? A refrigerator door? One of those squarish manhole covers on hinges (you know the ones I'm talking about, right)? An ironing board? The back of a chair? The dish part of a satellite dish or radar array? Tea tray? Large book? Several books duct-taped together, end-to-end? Banged-up flatscreen TV (or would that be too modern)? One of the smaller wings from an aircraft and/or a wing from one of the smaller aircraft? Outer door from an aircraft? A less important character? The power of positive thinking?

Mesa biomes only contain 6 of the available 16 colors of stained clay. Couldn't you just have natural clay textures for those 6 and artificial clay textures for the remaining 10? Or perhaps textures that could conceivably pass as either natural or artificial? The old pebbled and marbled non-CTM stained clay looked passably natural. Perhaps something riffing off of those?

    Just throwing out ideas here.

The funny thing is I completely agree with you. There is so much still in my pack from a different Minecraft age, and so little time to improve on things that I don't like it's easy for folk to assume they are there because I obstinately think they are the bee's knees.

Most of the time I feel like I'm working on trying to put a raging fire out while Mojang throws more wood on the pile...you just end up trying to deal with the biggest flare ups first! :)

Oh, I have exactly the same problem with my own pack. Well, mostly the same. You can actually occasionally be bothered to work on yours, which gives you a significant advantage.

It's still active, I swear. Just noticeably so.

I just wish they could find a way to add wood to the pile without periodically un-chopping the wood that's already been taken care of, especially since, assuming we're willing to stretch the metaphor well beyond reasonable limits, that's technically violating the laws of thermodynamics or something. Though I think I recall reading something about scientists successfully managing to unscramble an egg under laboratory conditions a couple years back. I'm sure that research has plenty of real-world applications. What we really need is a way to un-burn toast.

I'm not gonna lie, the old card catalog bookshelves always struck me as rather dull. Especially when I wanted to build a library. These new shelves, though. These are gorgeous.

    Yes!!! They're bump-mapped.

I use crazy bump and shadermap 2, and photoshop to more realistic effect.

    Do you like it?

Does the bump-mapping work out-of-the-box, or do I need to install something to make it work?

BrokenEye posted a message on Community Roundtable: Bugs (Insects, Not Code Errors)

I've always assumed Creepers were some sort of insect. That their only mode of attack entails suicide implies a hive psychology like that of bees where each creeper is an expendable extension of the entire hive's group consciousness, and insects are the only sort of animal I know where some species have the ability to explode or create explosions when threatened. Plus, there are plenty of insects with the appearance and texture of leaves. Everything points to insecthood.

I mean, yeah, they have only four legs, but perhaps there's an undeveloped vestigial third set hiding inside that carapace somewhere.

BrokenEye posted a message on Have You Ever Seen an Underwater Temple Exposed?

I mostly play on worlds that I've been using for several updates is the thing, so I have to go well out of my way to find any new worldgen features. Considering how wide the radius of already-explored wilderness is by this point, unless a recent update adds a natural resource I really really want, I usually can't be bothered.

BrokenEye posted a message on Minecraft 1.10 Teaser: "Working on a New Mob"

Mountain goats can be quite aggressive if provoked. What do you think those horns are for? I'll give you a hint: There's a reason they call that thing they use for smashing doors down a "battering ram".

Mice prefer to flee, but will still attack if cornered, and pack the sort of bite you'd expect from a critter who routinely chews its way through solid walls.

Foxes are predators, and while they never prey on humans, are quite fond of killing and dragging away our livestock. Not really the sort of "neutral" we're used to in Minecraft, but still not really passive.

Swans may be pretty to look at, but they are viscous, ornery, psychotic little bastards. They will mess you up just as soon as look at you. People have died because swans capsized their boat or attacked them while they were swimming. River sporting events have been called off because swans were spotted in the area. Technically they're just defending their territory, but they define their territory is the whole river. If anything, they'd be hostile.

Seagulls will attack you too, if you've got something they want (such as food or things that are almost food).

Biologically speaking, pandas are technically omnivores. Their teeth and metabolisms are adapted to eating mostly meat plus some bamboo, but whatever animal they used to eat doesn't exist anymore, which is why they only eat bamboo (and they have to eat a lot more of it, because they don't metabolize it very well and don't get much nutrition from it). They're constantly eating out of desperation, not because they just really like bamboo. Like foxes, they probably wouldn't attack humans, but they've hunted at least one other species into extinction. Plus, most creatures that overspecialized don't survive long enough to change their diet after their prey goes extinct, which means pandas are technically tougher than saber-toothed tigers.
