    For others, I have a few things left to do and I'll most likely be doing the last 1.7.10 build and doing some massive changes to the mod in the 1.8 versions. I will fix any issues that occur in 1.7 but no more features will be added.

    This mod isn't the top of my priority but I still look to give it enough updates to keep it running.

    Onwards to suggestions! You've probably heard them already, but hey.. the search on these forums suck, so checking isn't very easy :)
    In no particular order:

    1) Have a stop/restart or on/off on the radio and record player - perhaps hitting them when the cases are closed will stop/resume? Having to take the crystal out for a few minutes to do something, and put it back in, or when someone new logs in who hasn't heard before, etc, is a pain. Not HORRIBLE, just inconvenient. Even having, perhaps, a redstone signal stopping it (or starting it) would be awesome.

    2) Repeating records. I'm fairly sure I saw this one when scrolling through the pages, but having a way to repeat at the end - perhaps a configurable 'timeout' delay before it restarts? Even something like getting a new redstone signal re-starting it if it's stopped would be pretty helpful - Just something to avoid having to take the record off and put it back on again to restart.

    --- And some questions that I have not tested yet, but seeing as how you're quick to respond, it will probably be easier to just ask rather than attempt to do them :)

    1) When creating a multi-record, we're limited to just 8 songs on 1 record (the multi-record, and up to 8 other records in the crafting grid)? You can't make a multi-record out of other multi-records, correct?
    2) Is there any way to clone a record, or tune crystal (outside of being op and using /more or something)
    3) I see downloaded songs are stored in a cache folder - Do they ever automatically delete, or once they're downloaded, do you have them until you manually delete them? If the latter, perhaps consider having an in-game button to delete them? (or specific ones that you choose?)

    Keep up the awesome work - This is, hands down, my favorite cosmetic mod in existence. :)




    I actually setup something earlier today which makes the sound come from the speakers.. kinda, not actually. But it sounds like it, so I'll be adding it as a config option that is default enabled.

    The crash is interesting, I'll mention it to stumblin to see if he understands why.

    1) I could add it so when you give them a redstone signal they stop any current song, and don't let it start any new one. I don't know if I'm able to detect when someone loads a record player to start playing the song if they have it, or download then start playing it. But I'll also look into that..

    2) Repeating does exist if you put a comparator + your record/multirecord in a crafting table.

    1) You can not make a multi-record out of another multi-record or just a normal record. As of this time it isn't possible to get more than 8 songs on one record. This will most likely not change, but potentially a change could happen that allows hopper interaction, and with redstone controls you would be able to some sort of thing to have an "infinite" record.

    2) As of currently no way exists to clone a record, I don't know how I feel about the possibility.. But you will see in the next version if it happens.

    3) The songs do stay in the cache forever, a block could be made to display all downloaded songs & a way to delete them from the cache. Obviously this is just a visual thing and could be done manually so I wouldn't make the block too expensive. But I have no clue where else I would put such a thing.


    An idea I have is to give a redstone signal strength of the song index the record player is currently playing. As I have no real way to detect when a song is over, this may be the best bet.

    The way the record player/radio work is depending on speaker type it adds a certain play radius, and if the distance from that record player/radio is greater than the play radius it doesn't play the song. And because of that, having speakers super far away from the record player/radio will not actually make the song loud in that area.

    Now, I could go and change how that works, or make a config option to swap out how it works. Where it plays music from the speaker & the record player/etcher. I just don't know how well it will work.


    For the error, were you on a server, or in singleplayer? I'm guessing it was a client crash and not a server crash too.

    I'm not looking to give support for other mods, but maybe you can tell the mod author to take a look at the issue and if it's something I have to fix I will take a look into it.

    An update will come out in approximately 9 hours. I have sent StumblinBear a download for the new jar and when he is available he will release the update.


    I will be committing my changes to the official BetterRecords github as stumblin has given me access to that after a few minutes of this post to give him a changelog.


    I most likely won't be doing much to this mod.. I really have lost most interest in anything minecraft related.. I'll most likely fix up a few things in the 1.8 version(Add shuffling to 1.8) and that'll be about it.. I'll likely update it to 1.9 on a weekend.

    After this little fix comes out I'll spend some freetime slowly adding all the features you guys suggest that I think should be added



    To the disabling of speakers, I would guess you can get a server only mod to disable the crafting recipe in which the only way to obtain them would be spawning them or creative inventory.

    Is it possible for the frequency tuner to imput twitch streams? Twitch does offer audio only options and it is a stream so I was wondering if there was a way to.


    I'll look into it, I do know its possible as livestreamer can do audio only.


    Edit: Seems twitch uses m3u8... So I'll have to look into that

    If by flashing light you mean the Strobe Light, I have no clue how I'll be able to detect if the player receiving the effect is in the same room.

    Stumblin and I have both attempted to stop lasers going through walls without causing a high performance impact and both failed. I'll keep trying, I got pretty close.


    Music should only pause if the game is paused, Can you elaborate more on "single-multiplayer"? As it should not pause in multiplayer, but if you mean LAN I'll see if I can do something about that.


    The Lasers and Strobe light effects only render IF the block is being rendered by the player. I don't know if its possible to get around that with the current rendering setup, but if I change how it's done that could potentially be possible.

    Having 15 be on means only needing 2 pieces of redstone to turn it down a bit, where as having 0 as on means having 13 pieces of redstone (provided that 14 would be max volume) for those that dont have or like using a mod like computercraft to set an analogue redstone value.


    It's also better if you're using the record player for custom sounds in an adventure map type setting. Being able to trigger if off a high signal rather than having to "NOT" it makes life easier


    I'm not sure if it's possible to do both and just make it a config option?


    Config options are always an option for everything :)

    11/10 for an EPIC mod that i use nearly every day and that the community on the server i play on absolutly adore!


    Repeat one is possible by having only one song and putting a comparator with it.

    Shuffle is a pretty good idea, I'll add that.

    Don't really understand the repeat all thing, but again comparator and your record makes it repeatable.


    A way to control volume via redstone is a pretty good idea too. But I think 0 should be on, and 15 is off.


    I know you didn't talk about this, but I would love to add comparator support.. But its next to impossible.
