Meh... Nether is not that dangerous. All you need is a bow, milk and some armor.

Yeah. You can get your map fixed in MCedit by deleting the chunks, but you can't get your build back. Sorry.

Mob farms are structures abusing the game's design flaws for free items. Why should they be possible

Couldn't agree less. Automatic farms is what this game is all about for me. When I play survival I start as guy with nothing and have to do a lot of manual work. I put in this work to make my future easier, automate everything, so I can focus on building instead of tedious farming. Manual item sorting is like the most tedious thing, but unavoidable for a long period when you start to play. Making an automatic item sorter is more like a goal of the game rather than a design flaw if you ask me :P Just like with any farm. You need to collect lots of items, understand game mechanics, do a lot of manual work to even get your farm going. And once you do you no longer have to worry about that single resource and can start on a new project. Sounds like fair game to me.
Keeping your farms manual is like refusing to use a pickaxe better than wood imo.

posted a message on Question about villager trading [1.7.10]

So I have 3 "perfect" villagers. 2 of them eventually lowered their prices for everything after trading with them enough. But my priest doesn't change any of his trades after trading with him for 100 times :S The odds of him changing a specific trade should be 1/12 and any trade should be every time(unless it's maxed out cheap already) Or am I missing something? My priests last trade is 2x bottle 'o enchanting and I want him to make it 4x. But I have traded him SOOOO many times and it's still at 2... Will it ever happen or should I start getting another one?

With Looting III on your sword you can get plenty of ender pearls even in the Overworld.

True, but taking that he is running around overworld for enderpearls I'm guessing he is not too late in the game. Looting is a rare enchant. But there's always luck, so yeah :P

posted a message on The Problem with seeds

No. Getting a stack of seeds takes 10 minutes in plains max. As for carrots and potatoes, when you start growing them, they will bloom so fast you will soon be drowning in them. Getting your farm initially set-up takes a bit of time, but once it gets going, the speed is really good. I like how it is now.
    No support.

posted a message on I can't find any Enderman!

I recommend running around desert, rather than sitting in a lookout tower. Mobs who have spawned in an area won't despawn unless you kill them or move out the area. Getting ender pearls before defeating the ender dragon is a very slow process no matter what you do. If you can't kill the dragon yet, then just accept the fact that you will get 4-5 ender pearls per night. Sometimes 0.

Official Vanilla "pipes" would go a long way and solve much of the angst over water mechanics.

I don't think so... I use pipes in my modded world and well... It really takes the vanilla feel away. It makes it too simple. I like it that in vanilla you need to use hoppers, water etc. In vanilla you can do everything, but it's not so simple, that's what I like about vanilla. Ofc with this style, performance becomes an issue with large scale builds. But i think pipes and other tech stuff is better left for the tech-mod community, who use them in massive/complex builds. It would make items sorters and basic farms way too simple for regular players. Maybe a simple straight line pipe system to reduce the performance issue of hoppers cheking for items every tick would be good, but sorting pipes, round-robin pipes etc is something I would rather not see in vanilla.

"Note that this is Euclidean distance, not taxicab distance. The distance computation between portals in range is a straight-line distance calculation, and the shortest path will be chosen, counting the Y difference." Maybe this helps you?

posted a message on Help, I Lost My World!!!

Could you describe what happened a bit better? What was gone? A part of your build? The world didn't show up on the list? I assume you still have it in your saves folder? You are playing local single player? You have any backups? Also did you check the log? Try to find and post a log to pastebin from the time this first happened.

Did you log in with the same profile as usual?

posted a message on Auto Log/Wood Chop

Yeah, the way I use that function, if there is some self-placed wood that I want to chop down in one go, I will just place 3 leaf block to the top :P And overall it works absolutely fine. I have used it for around 3 years. I'm also looking forward to the new updates. Can't wait to build something totally new with new mechanics :)
