I agree, that actually does sound "exciting!" I mean, its not like there are thousands of little kids who used to simply imagine all these things around them, with superpowers and secret bases and things that aren't really there, cause little kids don't do that kind of stuff, they only do things with stuff that is already there and real.
Its not like as those kids gew up they ditched the imaginary games for stuff like board games and video games, not because they became less imaginative, but because they craved more of a challenge with rules and requirements,
Its not like this would be the perfeect solution for both having an imaginary realm you could play in with friends, while still keeping the rules and requirtements that you started to love for a challenge.
Its not like... its not like... wait.
...
Tell me, honestly, what is the difference between sitting in a log cabin outside , using agumented Minecraft, and the difference between sitting in a cabin you made, hile sitting on a cumpter? There are a few I can think of:
You are actually feeling like you are IN the cabin, especially if you use the google cardboard goggles thing like Gamelord said.
Two, you'd be building this in your world, instead of a totally different world.
and Three, it'd be a bit more emberrasing to walk around with goggles over your face or holding your phone up at awkward angles, but only because now everyone can SEE you be a geek, and no more emberassing than playing Pokemon Go.

This is probably the wrong way to go about it but I don't much like it when the last three posts are all the same "I don't like your comment" Kinda posts. It just leaves a bad taste in the mouth, and people feel obligated to comment on that instead of the main post.
Plus I halfway agree with him.
No Minecraft is not meant to be realistic. But it has to be based on something, and the skewed physics of minecraft at least seem skewed cause we know what physics is really like. The the issue is more picking out what realism should go in minecraft and what realism shouldn't.
After all, if there were giant spiders, you'd expect them to climb walls and jump at you, instead of, say being tamable with rotten flesh. Insects and bugs don't seem like the tamable type.
If it was a question of adding a new object, that would be a lot harder to decide. We haven't added huge ships or magic spells or cars or anything because they don't really fit into the skewed realism. (I think its because they aren't simple enough)
But for something like this... Cobwebs slow you, and that seems like something that would slow you barely ANY. More just make you jump around and scream after you walked through them. And yet they do slow you.
But for me it seems like every time we see a explorer walking through the jungle, they have to force their way through, hacking and slicing to make any headway.
Mostly its just the fact that all three of you are attacking that one post there. I do see why AThing did it, but if you aren't going to explain WHY you disagree, can you just not post?
Yep ok thanks!

I think the fix to that, as he said above, would be to make the skin changing comparatively slow, so its not so flashy, It would be meant to be something cool if you were watching carefully, and less of an attention grabber,
1
Ooooooh oooooooooh
Just my thoughts. It would be cool if that were possible.
So are we talking simply a skin that changes slowly over time to do this or that always?
What about options to add them for when different things happen!
Perhaps you have those folders with the separate animated skins, one for nothing, so you could just have your character blink or something every once in a while. One for a "long wait" basically AFK, and you could put a skin to make your character yawn or sleep. Another for "falling" and you could use a skin to make him look scared or excited from the fall. Another for getting attacked, with your skin looking pained or like it had been punched. Or maybe you are a barbarian and when you get hurt your eyes get big and you YELL AAAARRRRRRRG, so whoever hit you gets a big surprise :D. And another for swimming, another for eating, and a super scared one for when you hear a creeper hiss!
Of course, all these are just recommendations and you can have your character do whatever for all these. Maybe you want him to yawn when fighting. Or turn into a creeper when you hear a creeper hiss.

So I haven't read all the comments yet, but so far it seems to be the fact that you can't walk on them, and that it makes them annoying.
I might have a solution, if you like it, and its actually been something I've been thinking about for minecraft for a while. (So if you do like it please just mention my name or something :D)
I've noticed that when I step on a bunch of branches (which is what we are assuming hold UP the leaves, in these leaf blocks, right?) at first it might take a moment to get my balance, but in no time I can run and jump around on them with barely any effort. (this is in real life so yeah)
So my idea is, that when you walk through the branches, it does exactly what you are describing. But when you jump up on top, you can run around and walk on the leaf/branches like normal!
And the thing that I was really thinking of suggesting, is that when you are walking through the leaves, if you run into a wood block, you climb it like a ladder! (except a little bit slower)
I think this is actually the best of both worlds, which is great cause I've always wanted to be able to climb trees!
Leaves slow you down, yes. But only when walking through them. And it actually makes forests easier to navigate than ever! Now you don't need to tower up or search for low leaves to jump on, you can simply climb the first tree you come upon!
What I originally was thinking was that running into any leaves connected to wood would let you climb them, so you could jump from one tree to another, and hit the side of the leaves, and climb up and keep going.
But I think that might be kinda complicated.
Just saw this comment
Said a lot of the same things, I just added a little.
So yeah.
Refine it a little and Support!

I've always wanted there to be mountains the actual size of EVEREST! And the 3D biomes really caught my eye. There are so many new options with this, and its incredible.
How high would clouds be? Just wondering.
And you explained it really well too, so my nontechnical mind actually understood it
I love this idea, and Full Support
(Hope I'm not doing something wrong by posting so late but I just saw it)

I don't really know enough about the weapons mechanics to comment on those...
But I do like the idea of the armor making noise. Just a few things I think could be changed there. I've always wanted there to be more offhand and sneaky parts about Minecraft, taking some more planning and working than just "get the best armor and you win" kinda thing. I think that the level of the armor making noise would go up as the armor got better.
So Leather would make no noise
Chain would occasionally make a noise, but it would be more of a slithering metal on metal thing and less of a clink, so not as loud and only half a chance to make mobs aware of you.
Gold would make muffled clinks occasionally
Iron would make clinks fairly often
And Diamond would clink aaaall the time. Loudly. Like every other step.
A few other additions to make it easier on you iron armor folks
Sneaking would half the chance for your armor to make a noise.
Maybe an enchantment, like saaaay "Padded" Would both reduce how often your armor clinked, and how loud it was.
I kinda like the idea of the armor bar thing, though it would certainly need some tweaks. Right now it just shows you how much you have on, which is not the most useful. And it would give another few reasons for choosing this over that.
Yep!
Oh and I don't really like the draw penalty. The only time I hear people complaining about ruining the bows at scout camp is when you dry fire it, with no arrow. You can reduce how much you draw to fire along a smaller distance, no problem.

And I do.
But how exactly would it, if it does, get into minecraft? Does it really have to do with how many people like it?
Do the people from Mojang look over this forum every day or something? Do they have an account?
Are we all just sitting here making suggestions that will never be seen?
0
So how exactly do I know if this has a chance or not?
I hear people say "Support" and "No support" but that's not actually how it gets seen, is it?

I can't tell who you are replying too, him or me :/
But I don't as much consider the elder guardian a miniboss, just a tougher mob, and thats kinda what I was going for here.
I mean, the Iron Golem has more health and attack than this guy does. So we would have to include those in the MiniBoss range. :/

Thanks, I guess
You DIDN'T post before so It'd be REALLY nice if you would say WHY you support :/

So do you know if there is a way to change the title of my post? Cause I think a lot of the issues can be fixed if I change the mob to an octopus. And while I can rename everything in the post, I can't figure out how to change the name on top, which might be confusing...
And would the Giant Eyeball drop still work with two eyed octopus? Doesn't fit the theme quite as well.... (almost done editing main post)
1
Thats actually a lot of what I was looking for
pointing out different ways to look at this, and issues that people could have.
I do need to refine the tentacle idea a lot, don't I?
I really don't have time to edit tonight, but I will tomorrow. Thanks for the criticism!

Was the Giant ever actually added? I thought it was more of a gag thing, or an Easter egg.
It was supposed to have more than just being bigger.... I do like the Octopus idea, if that fixes that problem. Just gotta figure out how to even it all out.
0
Yeah, I said more variety and I was THINKING more natural looking dungeons and things to do, but apparently it sounded like I want lots of little things :/
How bout more action? That works, instead. I think.
Hmm... I suppose, and an octopus, not a Giant Octopus would add a unique twist to the theme. Whenever you hear of a giant tentacled monster, its usually a Kraken or a Squid. But an Octopus just being gigantic, and just assuming that that is the size of most octopi.... Adds some mystique.
I really like that, actually.
I don't know how the eyes would work out though. The armor and everything would need a different overall balance. And I really do like the Giant Eyeball.... And I suppose you could still get one from the octopus, but it doesn't fit the theme as well. Hmm.
Maaaaybe.... Maybe the Giant Squid could be its own thing, that spawns differently? That would add more variety, though there would be an awful lot of things like Squid and Octopus then... It would have to have a couple new mobs, to balance it.
I think I would rename the Cave to be the Octopus Garden, and then add a new kelp block or something.
Any thoughts about this? I'm not sure where to go from here.
