Quick, somebody start a discussion so we can work at 3000 posts.

    Um... Um...

So howabout those villages, will you be able to make houses to expand it like the vanilla villages? More tribespeople, more protection, more elders (side quests :o), more fun (more work). Ya'know?

Which sort of school would I rather go to for a traditional education in the core subjects is what you're asking? Going onto a server as a replacement for a classroom? What the hell? I'm sorry if I sound rude, I don't mean to be...I'm just incredulous. Hands down, any day, I'd rather go to a brick and mortar school for class.

As much as I adore Minecraft and think that it is an incredible tool for a lot of things, I cannot see it as a replacement for vis-a-vis teaching where the instructor is physically present and is able to establish a proper rapport. By being there teachers can gauge student interest or struggle by looking at body language and tone of voice. Using Minecraft to supplement teaching I'd be okay with but Minecraft is just so...limited that it is a ludicrous idea to use it to replace the tried and true teaching tools readily available to us today.

I feel old when I'm not that old. I think about the topic of school and I think "kids these days need to buckle down and just suck it up because it's not even that bad. Take notes, listen to lectures, put your nose to the grindstone." Because there's a lot of coddling going on.

I must agree with you here, I would prefer that Minecraft had a part in education but not a total convergence. The lack of seeing the teacher as a human would be... negative.

Students need to be able to have expectations that they must meet, and these expectations are more easily met in the real world, as a virtual realm is easily ignore-able. Also, essential social skills are not allowed to develop in a virtual-only classroom, so yes, keep it real, keep it relatively 'traditional', but I would like to see Minecraft in classrooms.

[EDIT] Also, Minecraft is a great gateway to Graphic art, it's where I learned to use photoshop.

I choose Minecraft, not World of Warcraft or Second Life. Minecraft is extremely diverse in the activities you can do with it, way more things than Second Life or World of Warcraft. Minecraft has loads of Mods that add new content, and it is appealing to the senses (unlike brick and mortar schools).

Not only are you able to learn physics with it, you can also learn architecture, community planning, creative thinking, computer programming (mod), math, and several other things. You're also given the opportunity to have fun, such as PvPing and Role Playing, or just plain ol' surviving.

May I ask why you want to know?

If you're still looking for Operation Wight Lighting members, I found a good youtuber who may be interested in it. He's pretty good at conducting teamwork, too. He's TodaysMarriedGamer.

Support, I always enjoy a good adventure, but usually end up throwing away my base coords and getting lost.

    Oh! Mini Bosses!
I would love a kind of spider-y thing, a darkness crawler, an ambusher.

To summon it, you must get to the top of one of the big trees, and near the top is an egg sac, making small spider noises. If you break this egg sac, a bunch of 'egg' particles fall to the ground. The creature digs out of the ground and starts making its way up the tree to you. It is immune to fall damage, but relatively easy to kill, the only trouble is you are stuck in a tree.

    Looks like this?

Names, names, names... Queen Leech? Swamp Spider? Earthen Jaw?

You might be able to fight this mini-boss more than once, though egg generation in trees would be a low chance.

I've used BWG before. It's exactly what it says on the tin... a better world generator. For the default generator. In other words, probably the best thing it does is make the underwater bedding less ugly and make the grass color of some biomes better (and some worse; jungles have the same ugly water as swamps, and BWG swamp/jungle water is even WORSE than vanilla's).

True, the water is pretty.... ugly. But it adds mountainous terrain into almost every biome, making it a slightly better alternative to vanilla.

I have found a slight cure for this problem. It's not truly in game, but it's been working for me. It just creates more mountainous terrains, or some other random terrain generations.

    This mod.

And otherwise, I agree. In 1.7 Beta, you could find sweet overhangs and even almost hollow mountains (I lived in one, so cool!)
Now you can find... a mountain. And maybe a ravine...

I'm actually a little glad I didn't win the preview... it's why I don't get Minecraft release Snapshots. Though I like finding bugs, I would not like trying to play and being surrounded by them :P

So I'm content in waiting until the release, when there aren't a lot of game-intoxicating bugs all over.

The thing I want to know is if there'll be an official server set up for this mod. The Aether Devs planned out a server that will open soon after the release of the mod. It's PvP based, I think.

Keep in mind that a lot of Yogscast's fans also are fans of other Youtubers. I don't think having Yogscast in OWL would really change much, fanwise.
