I've set up a small 10 slot server that I'm willing to share with a few mature players.
Server is 1.1 running mcmmo, ecocreature, iconomy, and chestshop. I may add factions or towny at a later date but for the moment don't see the need to.
While I am the owner/admin, I do not play as an op or admin. I prefer to tame the world by hand.
The map is new as of an hour ago, its a medium sized tiaga island and I am getting a lost viking vibe while exploring.

Thank you for the invite but It looks like my class load is going to keep me really busy. You can drop me if you like to open a slot for another. I'll check the server once I have a better handle on school commitments and see if I can come on in or if I need to knock on the door again.
Good question. I'd like to think not, but we're unsure as to what will happen with the changes. If the group as a whole wants to restart at any given point, regardless of how I feel, we will do so. I consider myself to be just 1 vote like anyone else.
As far as economy type plugins... I like them, I think they're a great idea, but it's simply not needed for the smaller groups according to others on the server that have spoken about it. I honestly haven't checked to see how it works elsewhere, as I've not joined any other server but mine (thankfully, after hearing all the horror stories), but the way I see it, it's more for a huge booming economy with way too many people to look after.
Instead, we store items and help each other out if needed. Obviously, certain items like diamonds and slime usually are kept to ourselves, but there are times when we may deposit them in the community keep's storage supply near the spawn point. Everything there is organized as best as possible, labeled, and open to anyone who needs them. We just ask of others; if you take out, put back in. I still don't even really have my own storage supply, I use the keep still.
On 1.8, fair enough. Its my understanding that there will be some 1.8 features that will only be available on a 1.8 map. but that's just internet rumors for now. Your doing alt maps as events anyway, I guess you could always just start a new map, take a look then revert if the group does not care for the feel.
I'm not super attached to the econ idea, you just asked for suggestions. I don't need tanks, or guns, or flight, I just threw out a suggestion. After reading your reply, I like your system better anyway...
Possible Plugin Suggestion(s) for server: You have a solid list. Perhaps some sort of econ plug in, Tradecraft comes to mind,I think it offers a hard currency/shops system. Though I understand Iconomy will have something similar in the next build. *shrug*
When do you normally play/how long: Week days while at work Pacific Standard time and some weekends.
How many players you'd like to have white-listed: Enough for a community when I log in but not so many as to make the lag unbearable.

Are You A Good Builder: I think so. Dirt and Cobble are not so nice, but you can dress it up with signs, ladders, and fences. I'de rather bake stone or hunt bricks though.

I got it to work!
My minecraft froze on world creation the few times I tried to generate a fresh world but loaded a non converted, saved world just fine.
The autumn and 5 heart issue are yogbox mods. Not sure about the spinning steve, but I had that happen as well.
