    I am sort of in the middle here, on one hand, I love Beta terrain probably the most. Maybe that is nostalgia, but I loved the sheer variety of terrain you got- massive cliffs, those enormous overhangs and I sort of miss the random "sandpits" you would find. That said I don't dislike the new generation, it just isn't quite so exciting, even with many more biomes. I also miss the continents you used to get, the world is currently like a Pangea and the oceans are in reality lakes, I sort of liked the adventure in crossing enormous oceans to new lands back in the early releases. One thing that could be improved upon in modern Minecraft is you can spawn in a world that due to the temperature of biomes is almost exclusively desert and savanna biomes. I am lucky in my world it is mostly the biomes I like most near spawn but that is pure luck.

    Me too, I miss the adventurous aspect of it, it feels like most of everything is just mountains which get incredibly annoying and oceans don't seem to actually exist anymore. More so large rivers. I've found one seed out of about 4 I made that made me happy, everything else was very ugly and those stone mountains were an eyesore to say the least.

    I disagree with you. My current single player world has nearly all biomes within 2000 to 3000 block radius from the spawn, and I actually like the world generation the way it is now (minus the mountains, can't wait to the new mountain generation coming in Caves & Cliffs part 2).

    You also can set the game to have "large biomes", when starting new world, so it wouldn't feel as claustrophobic.

    But be prepared to end up in the middle of gigantic mountain biome or birch biome (which I personally like, but I'm bit weird anyway).

    While I indeed don't agree with you. I can't claim, that you would be the only one who has nostalgic feelings towards the world generation of Alpha and Beta versions of the game.

    In the end, everyone has their own preferences.

    That is a pro for the new world generation, but I've found the oceans are a lot harder to fine and those damn mountains look really gross, other than that, biomes being not as rare is a plus, but it's the look that bothers me.

    I've started up a couple worlds, now I am very particular with what I like, but ever since the game has been steadily updating, I feel the terrain has gotten bland and the biomes spawn in dense areas that make me feel claustrophobic, does anyone else get the same feeling? I remember the world generation being quite different and very interesting, with floating mountains and the such, it feels like these days it's always snowy mountains and a birch forest, it doesn't feel like the game is random more so just bias towards those biomes, especially mountains. As such everything feels clustered and looks kind of gross, I miss the greenery from the Alpha and Beta days, where the terrain was much more nuance and had bizarre looks.

    posted a message on Is Villages more common now?

    Been playing since 2012, do not remember villages being so common, I keep finding so many in my world and close together as well. I have found 8 so far, is this normal or am I just super lucky? Plus the terrain seems a lot larger with higher mountains.

    posted a message on Miclee deserves to get their cape back

    Miclee got a cape years and years ago for the creation(?)/idea for the Zombie Pigman, in fact, his skin was used. Here is Miclee's cape that was removed:

    Now people may say that this isn't a huge problem, which it isn't, but considering DannyBStyle got a cape because Notch said he liked his genitalia, and considering JulianClark, MrMessiah, billyK_, etc, got a cape for their contributions to the game, yet Miclee's cape was taken away due to people asking for one. I say Miclee should get the cape back, after all, Zombie Pigman have been a notorious mob in the game for over a decade now and it's hard to not think of Minecraft when thinking of the name "Pigman".

    posted a message on Question about breeding Villagers

    Hello, so I've just come across a village in the Savanna, and I'd like to populate the village a bit more. Now I've searched for tutorials on this, but I don't want to build these ugly contraptions, I want it to look natural. Is there a way to do this? Do I just try my best to replicate the village houses with bed obviously and add crops near by?

    Thanks.

    The enderman one (2016) is really cool, IMO. The unused capes look nice, too.

    I personally really like the unused green one.

    posted a message on Which is your favorite MINECON cape?

    Hi everyone! I've been seeing a lot of posts about Minecon recently so I thought it would be a nice change to instead of complain about how Minecon capes aren't being given out anymore, we could look back at the past and discuss our favorite ones.

    First up is the Minecon 2011 cape. This cape was chosen according to a vote done at Mojang.com.

    Next is the 2012 Minecon cape. This cape unlike the previous year, wasn't chosen according to votes, and was a complete mystery until Curse leaked it.

    In 2013, it was thought the next Minecon cape would be the unused green cape from the poll in 2011, however, this prediction turned out to be true, and false.

    2014 would be a "Minecon-less" year and would only return the next year in 2015. 2015 Minecon brought forth another cape that would be given out to the 5000+ attendants.

    Minecon 2016 would be the last year we would get of a physical Minecon. This would also be the last of Minecon capes we would see until 2 years later.

    This one is a huge surprise, to me anyway. I'm not sure how this cape works, but according to the Minecraft Wiki; "Unlike previous events, this cape is being distributed on the Minecraft Marketplace, as a promotion for the upcoming character creator." This cape is called the MINECON LIVE - Founders Cape.

    The last capes were never used unfortunately, and lost to the Creeper cape in the 2011 poll.

    That's all for now! Which is your favorite?

    A little detail I noticed a while back is how repetitive the capes are, they all follow the exact some background except a different color and different 'symbol'.

    Personally, I wish I had the unused green cape, but oh well, my second favorite is definitely the 2011 one.

    Honestly, the bells could be cool, but the granite blocks and what not, there's just too much to the point I end up not playing the game, this is what made older Minecraft supreme, there wasn't too much to do.

    posted a message on Air Based Mobs?
    Quote from wimpyloois»

    I was thinking, as there are Parrots and the upcoming 'Monster Of The Night Sky', what if there were neutral flying mobs? What if a Vulture could stalk players who tread on the desert, and attack them if they held a piece of meat? Maybe they could be stopped or slowed if a piece of said meat is thrown on the ground, resulting in the Vulture flying over to the meat and consuming it; though an animation is not required to show this, imagine the Vulture leaning over to consume a piece of meat before flying towards you again if you still held a piece of meat. Also, the Vulture wouldn't fly towards meat that was thrown to a certain distance, as the meat held in the player's hand would be a better target. Maybe it could also hold meat, which would be dropped if it was slain, if there was too much for it to consume at once? For an item drop when it is slain, it could simply drop feathers as a standalone item (also dropping meat that it holds). I hope you all enjoy my idea!

    |||||| = Place

    |||||| = About The Mob

    |||||| = Item Drops

    |||||| = Attacks

    I support only if the Vulture is massive like the Spider. Like a Pterodactyl!

    posted a message on Will Minecon Always Be A Stream?

    Hopefully, a lot of people really only want the capes, I know I did in 2013, but before that I really wanted to go for the experience. Also, too many capes are being given out in my opinion, heck, someone was given a Turtle cape for the idea, Miclee had his cape removed DUE to people asking for personal capes... Miclee should get his cape back lol he came up with pigmen.
