Hey all, it's been a long while since I last posted here, and I hope to be able to get back into texturing soon. I've decided to continue working on this, which I'd started during the Simple Pack Showdown 3, but then stopped because of real life things.

Anyways, here are a couple things that I created recently/a while ago, but never actually shared:

Just a large mish-mash really (from upper left to bottom right): cobblestone, oak plank, jungle plank, mossy cobblestone, spruce plank, and jungle log. Thinking of naming it either Nautilus or Cinnamon Roll when (if) I'm done, but leaning towards Cinnamon Roll.

    New stuff from last night:

Some sand, grass, and birch trees

Also, I can't decide as to which texture to use for the oak log. I like the one with more contrast, but is it too much?

    @Fuzzlechan

    Alright, thank you!

I'm trying to see how many different shapes and patterns i can make pretty much just with swirls. Thoughts?
    Using Fuzzlechan's palette.

If you want nice, comments, make an effort to make something nice.

People generally commend effort and ingenuity.

Haven't made one of these in a while

    48 colors, background not included

I also have a question. I started dirt, grass_side, grass, and grass_side_snow in a simplistic style before the competition was posted, but the night that the post was created. Can I use the 4 blocks that I have, but recolour them to fit with the palette I choose?

would you think i would read hate-replies?

You know, I really dislike it that hate is used so often, and so incorrectly.

Hate: to feel intense or passionate dislike for someone or something

Why would I feel any intense dislike about your pack? At this point, I've become ambivalent to these kinds of packs. Either the creator accepts feedback, or they don't.

And if you'd taken some time to read my paragraph, you would actually be able to see that I was trying to help you. To make you better, and to provide you with an enjoyable hobby. As I said, what would be the point in throwing any kind of hate at you? We're not trying to scare new artists away here.

Please learn to accept criticism. It is essential. You simply cannot improve without it. Heck, I'm sure your teacher provides you with feedback (positive and negative) for your work all the time. Do you view that as a personal attack as well? Of course not, because you should know that its to help you achieve a greater degree of success in whichever class you're in.

Finally, if I wanted to "hate on you," why would I spend my time typing up this much, when I could be doing better things with my time?

yea, trying to "help", im taking as hating and hating Team Rasmus too, every forum i have gone to have hated ALL my work, even if i have worked on it Days, and Days, weeks and weeks, months and months, just for getting hate, do you not know that you are insulting my feelings?
    WOW, Diamonds on level 83

Do you think, perhaps, that it might be that what you're working on might need a bit more work before it is released? If everyone is critiquing (and I mean critiquing, not hating) then maybe you need to look back at the things you created and reevaluate them, as objectively as possible.

Its like the saying: “If one person tells you you're a horse , they are crazy. If three people tell you you're a horse, There's conspiracy afoot. If ten people tell you you're a horse,it's time to buy a saddle”

Now, about your pack. Like everyone said, it needs some work. Flat packs aren't very well received here. They require minimal effort (and yes, 3 days of work is considered a small amount of time in this; many of the packs you see on here took months to make), and they generally don't work well in Minecraft in a survival world (see Alvoria's post).

Keep in mind that nobody here is trying to flame you. What would honestly be the point in that? We want to see new, promising artists, not drive them away.

Improvement wise, shading is key. It gives the blocks depth, and makes them more interesting to look at. Even simple packs have shading.
Read some pixel art/texturing tutorials. They'll help you improve your skills, make you a better artist in general when it comes to this.

Again, don't be afraid of feedback! Its good and helps you grow!

I am not responsible if you get seizures from rapid flickering textures!

Why would you have rapid, flickering textures, enough to cause a seizure? It would be hard on the eyes of anyone, even if they aren't prone to seizures.

And your textures themselves aren't exactly aesthetically pleasing either. Way too harsh, too much neon. Recolors of default textures.
This honestly needs a lot of work.

Those look nice Blueberry, just a little chaotic a times.

Yeah, I'll probably adjust the stone a bit and make some additional variants, so its not so pebbly. I think that may be a bit of the cause of the chaos.

Also, I've been testing out some wool. Might not work with the rest of the textures though:
