Hey all, it's been a long while since I last posted here, and I hope to be able to get back into texturing soon. I've decided to continue working on this, which I'd started during the Simple Pack Showdown 3, but then stopped because of real life things.
Anyways, here are a couple things that I created recently/a while ago, but never actually shared:
Just a large mish-mash really (from upper left to bottom right): cobblestone, oak plank, jungle plank, mossy cobblestone, spruce plank, and jungle log. Thinking of naming it either Nautilus or Cinnamon Roll when (if) I'm done, but leaning towards Cinnamon Roll.
Welp, I need to think of a new idea now! xD That looks way better than any of my experiments with swirls. I would use the heck out of those.
Thanks I've had the idea in my head for several months now. I created a couple textures several months ago, but never did anything with them. These ones are new ones with the same concept.
Though it would be interesting to see both of us do swirls, and see what our own take on the idea would be.
And thecrazydudesrd, yeah its grass side/dirt/stone, respectively
I also have a question. I started dirt, grass_side, grass, and grass_side_snow in a simplistic style before the competition was posted, but the night that the post was created. Can I use the 4 blocks that I have, but recolour them to fit with the palette I choose?
I am not responsible if you get seizures from rapid flickering textures!
Why would you have rapid, flickering textures, enough to cause a seizure? It would be hard on the eyes of anyone, even if they aren't prone to seizures.
And your textures themselves aren't exactly aesthetically pleasing either. Way too harsh, too much neon. Recolors of default textures.
This honestly needs a lot of work.
Those look nice Blueberry, just a little chaotic a times.
Yeah, I'll probably adjust the stone a bit and make some additional variants, so its not so pebbly. I think that may be a bit of the cause of the chaos.
Also, I've been testing out some wool. Might not work with the rest of the textures though:

New stuff from last night:
Some sand, grass, and birch trees
Also, I can't decide as to which texture to use for the oak log. I like the one with more contrast, but is it too much?

@Fuzzlechan
Alright, thank you!
I'm trying to see how many different shapes and patterns i can make pretty much just with swirls. Thoughts?
Using Fuzzlechan's palette.

Looks really good! Though maybe make the shadow for the grass less linear. Too straight looking right now, imo

If you want nice, comments, make an effort to make something nice.
People generally commend effort and ingenuity.

Haven't made one of these in a while
48 colors, background not included

Beautiful work as always.
You could use it for chiseled sandstone, or maybe chiseled stone bricks. It could also work for quartz, like you said.
