I remember how I used to check out the mods section here a lot. Now with both Curseforge and Modrinth most devs don't bother maintaining a thread here and I don't blame them.
There was never a guarantee that devs had proper version control here or that they wouldn't use some shady file hosting site.
I know Discord is one of the reasons why the social aspect of forums died, but proper modding sites helped in the killing as well

I still don't like the direction Mojang took with the Adventure Update back in 2011. They turned Minecraft into more of an RPG with weird magic elements and more focused on combat. I just never liked that. I want to build, I don't want to worry about hunger. I don't need to create potions, nor have I ever even done that.
I guess b1.7.3 is the best in a way. People seem to agree with me since there are now multiple big mods available for that version which add some quality of life features as well as fixing numerous bugs.
And it's not like I don't enjoy playing modern Minecraft, but I definitely enjoy survival mode way less, and just focus on creative more.

My best guess is that this is all made up by OP. lmao

I’m all for these kinds of mods! While I like BTA and ReIndev a lot, they do add a lot of things that make it feel way less vanilla. From looking at the feature list here, it seems more like a bugfix mod, which is exactly what I was looking for!

That made me check the PMC forums out again and I noticed the last post I made was 7 years ago. And the ones before that 9 years ago lmao. I didn't know it was still active, or even ever.

Insane how this mod gets almost no attention at all anywhere. Only about 5 YouTube videos being made with the most viewed one only having a little over 200k views. This is seriously one of the most impressive Minecraft mods I have ever seen. It completely overhauls the game. It all feels so great as well. And for an alpha build, it works incredibly well.
The maps are fun too and the guns feels satisfying. That classic Day of Defeat feel in Minecraft is just awesome.
Seriously, more people need to find out about this.

I’m sorry, but is there any reason for this mod to be made for 1.5.2? in 2021 no less? I don’t even know anyone who still plays 1.5.2 for mods. 1.6.4 or 1.7.10, yes. But 1.5.2?

“collaborating” is a weird word to use when Mountain Dew is owned by PepsiCo lol.
I wish PepsiCo would do this more often though, I want weird combinations. Mondelez already does this, that’s why we have Milka filled with Oreo yesss

what do you do with those guns 😳😳😳😳

Y, we're almost there. But I don't think there are still many bronies left.

Even the forum games seem to be dead lol. I realised that the little bell icon never has a red number next to it anymore. I few years ago I'd have it full every day because of those forum games I decided to post in just once

This topic makes me feel like it’s 2012 again. Insane that people are still talking about Herobrine some 10 years later.

Boy that takes me back. I remember long ago that my parents tried (this was pre-tablet days) to give me half an hour of screentime with a timer. I think about the only thing I did on the computer was look up Lego instructions or play The Incredible Machine 3 probably lol. They gave up not long after.
The problem was that they were (and still are) way more addicted to screens than I am.

I can't stand the fact that I'd have to join a Discord server just to download a mod, resourcepack, shaderpack or fangame or whatever. But sadly this is often the reality nowadays. A forum is just such a nice centralised place for downloading stuff while finding information about said stuff (Curse is good enough in Minecraft's case, but user-to-dev interaction seems to be at a minimum). I really don't feel like having to join some server just to download a mod and then having to rejoin every time that mod updates.
Don't even get me started on asking questions on most Discord servers. The people in there often treat you like crap when you ask a question because you 'don't know the rules' or their 'in-jokes'

Man, I've been checking out some of the forums (or would it be 'fora'?) I used to post on some 10 years ago and I'm sad to see that most are pretty much dead nowadays. Minecraft is still a huge game and there are luckily still a lot of posts made on this forum but it's not the same as it has been years ago.
Modders don't seem to bother with maintaining a forum post on here nowadays. It's either just posted on Curse (which is a heck of a lot better than the countless of dead Megaupload or adfly links on here lol) or Patreon, which seems to be a trend with modders on all games (easier to put it behind a paywall than relying on that easily overlooked Paypal-donation button, right?)
Most new threads I see on here now are from day-old accounts not realising that you can just ask your question about a mod in the mod's thread itself and have a better chance of getting an answer (or even Googling) than making a new thread in the wrong forum section and having it locked within the hour lol.
But the forum is not dead yet compared to most forums I used to be even more active on. I'm most of all just curious where all of those people have gone. Maybe Facebook groups? Or maybe Discord? Although I think most users have just moved on.
What an interesting time in internet history.
