get malewarebytes. Their website is malewarebytes(dot)org. click free version, wait for it to finish downloading, then install. After installing, run with Admin rights, and do a FULL scan. It will pick up at least one or 2 things if you keep getting pop-ups.

Since you said you're getting pop-ups everywhere, you most likely got adware or some kind of malware. That will be one of them it should pick up.

After it picks them up, it will quarantine them. After that Reboot your computer!

Then, unless you have an antivirus, install one, like Avast! free antivirus.

    Quote from Awger

    Update:

I've been following the MCP+Forge discussion... they're coming along, but it's still a moving target. There are still a few minor problems with the build system, but the major hurdle is a lack of function name translations. Since the SmallBoats mod overrides most of the internals, that's a blocker.

In the meantime, I decided to rebuild my data array (double the disk space and stripe it) and Windows partition (I run Linux, and dual-boot into Windows for playing games that aren't happy under wine). I had to do a fresh install because my old windows partition was built on my old motherboard (BIOS+MBR) and freaked out on the new system (EFI+GPT). I figured that disconnecting all my Linux drives and installing Win7 on its own drive would be safe... silly me. The Win7 install worked fine but, as soon as I reconnected the Linux drives, Win7 trashed the EFI boot partition on the Linux drive.

    *&^%$#@!

Oh well... I needed to update my Linux anyway... just didn't want to do it right now.

Apologies for not being very active of late, I've been buried under snow and other work (schools closed for an entire week, and we're starting a major development project at work).

I can wait as long as you need. The snow can cause power outages, closings, and other problems, messing up plans, and it's been affecting a ton of people. If you need to do other things besides the mod first, go ahead: your the mod maker. You choose what happens to the mod.

I....didn't like it. I tried building a caste, and the moderators/assessors commented saying it looked like a prison. When I tried building a simple house with torches, furnaces, and all the other things, they wanted more with furniture. I didn't know how to build furniture on minecraft, so they told me to look it up. So I did. Then they wanted me to add greenery to my lawn (I assumed he meant trees), after they commented on what I replaced the obsidian with (I replaced it with my favorite colors of wool, and an assessor said "these colors make me sick." I replaced the wool with grass). That satisfied them. Did I get the promotion after trying to satify them? Nope. They showed me one of the assessors houses that passed and I assumed I had to build to that level. I wasn't that experienced, since I recently got the game in October, and I was busy on school mostly since I got the game.

Assessors and moderators who made rude comments at someone with little experience and expected a ton out of a new user. Not a good server for me.

posted a message on What should we expect TU14 to have?
Some things I'd like to see:

Enchanting books and anvil (That way you can choose what enchantments are on the item through enchanting the books then placing the item and book in the anvil. I like that way of using levels instead of using them and getting a useless enchantment, like fire protection when you only farm, build, mine, or kill and seldom, if never, see lava. Plus, repairing a tool is better than making a new one in some cases.)
Carrots and potatoes (the one I'm after most. Just growing wheat on a far gets boring with 1 plant. Why not variety?)

This is a great mod. Keep up the great work!

One question: once the cannons are complete, how are we going to fire them? There are many different combinations (Flint + Steel, cannonball [texture would be needed though] , TNT, redstone, etc.), that I don't know which one it would be.

Also, an idea for boat damage is the heart system the game uses, only instead of hearts, it's Hoy ships (since it's the one with cannons and the whaler) filled with blue (since you're in the water), and the boat is destroyed when the Hoy "heart" gauge is empty. Since you said in the main post that these take a lot of damage, the amount of Hoy "hearts" could be equal to the amount of normal hearts.

posted a message on Why does Minecraft lag for some people?
Due to the tons of blocks in a world, the way minecraft loads it (loads as you move a certain distance), and that you are doing various things at the same time (moving, mining, building, crafting, etc.), eats up a ton of FPS. Depending on the amount of RAM (Random Access Memory) a computer has, and the processor core power can equal the lag you are feeling (low RAM + 1gb single core + tons of minecraft at once= bad FPS lag; medium RAM + 1GB dual core + tons of minecraft= some lag; tons of RAM + 4 or more cores at 1GB + ton of minecraft= not much lag.

Thus, you have to factor in the computer specs as well. You don't just rely on the way minecraft loads up the blocks or what you do.

posted a message on LAN Help
What versions can play in a LAN world? is is all the same like a normal server would, or can it be random versions?

Reason: The students at the school I go to play minecraft through LAN, but ONLY on 1.3.2. They are firm on not updating. The reasons? Minecraft is spread through the school through sharing: if a kid that wanted to play didn't have the files nor account, he would be given the pre-1.6 files for 1.3.2 and the old launcher. This was because the school found a glitch in the launcher where you typed a name, but not a password, clicked enter, and then play offline, It would let you play with that username you typed. They found they could use that username on LAN, which lead to Minecraft spreading through the school on 1.3.2. Since the kind of mod I'm wanting to use on them (airship) isn't available for 1.3.2, I'm curious to see if any minecraft version can be used in a LAN so I can use the mod on them.

The main thing I'm currently after in a Minecraft update is item deconstruction. A lot of you, like me, probably have constructed items we don't use. If Mojang added item deconstruction to 1.7 or another update, we could get rid of all the useless items we have and use the materials we got back to craft useful ones.

I voted for the Deconstruction!, as I have so many constructed items that I can either use until destroyed, or stick in a chest. If there was a deconstruction methos, I would have all the iron, cobblestone, diamond, string, sticks, and other materials that I screwed up on crafting with.
