Probably best to use Minecraft.net instead of a help desk website

I think I need to elaborate further on my point. Before resent updates (beta 1.7.3) the game was more about exploring the awesome terrain and building as well as playing multiplayer. Now the game is all about building large unnecessary farms and large overpowered beacons. Now the main goal of the game is to fight the wither and kill the enderdragon.

Minecraft is dying, not dead but slowly going downhill. Mostly because of its bad new updates.

karyonix posted a message on Shaders Mod (updated by karyonix)

ShadersMod adds shaders to Minecraft and add multiple draw buffers, shadow map, normal map, specular map. These things can be used to change appearance of Minecraft world. How it looks depends on selected shaderpack and some user settings.
This mod is derived from daxnitro's GLSL Shaders Mod.

This mod requires recent and fast graphic card with NVIDIA or AMD GPU.

Graphics effects do not come out of nowhere. They require computing power of both CPU and GPU.
Some shaderpacks render around 10 times slower than vanilla Minecraft.
You can expect low frame rate if your computer cannot get more than 200 FPS from vanilla Minecraft.

- How to prepare shaderpack zip file

1.Make a folder named shaders
2.Copy *.vsh *.fsh files in the folder
3.Zip the folder.
4.Make sure the zip file has shaders folder in it with *.vsh *.fsh in shaders folder.
5.Rename your zip file for easy identification.

- How to prepare shaderpack folder for in-game shaders selection

1. Start Minecraft with ShadersMod installed
2. Option... Shaders... open shaderpacks folder
3. Create subfolder .minecraft/shaderpacks/packname
4. Create subfolder .minecraft/shaderpacks/packname/shaders
5. Copy your .fsh .vsh files into .minecraft/shaderpacks/packname/shaders

Here is folder structure for .minecraft/shaderpacks

- .minecraft
--- shaderpacks
----- packname1 -- folder
------- shaders -- subfolder
--------- *.vsh
--------- *.fsh
----- packname1 -- folder
------- shaders -- subfolder
--------- *.vsh

Troubleshooting

- Texture resolution
If the game cannot run after install this mod, and you are using high resolution texture, try again with 16x16 or 32x32 texture. If it works, you can try higher resolution like 64x64 or 128x128.
256x256 does not work well with ShadersMod on most graphics cards today.
- Java heap size
This can be set in Minecraft Launcher - Edit Profile - JVM Arguments
-Xmx1024M or -Xmx1G is usually enough. 2048M is plenty, depending on render distance and mods.
Don't set it too high.
ShadersMod and OpenGL requires a lot of memory outside java heap.
Make sure you have enough memory remaining outside java heap.
- Console output
In Minecraft Launcher - Edit Profile -
check "Launcher Visibility" and set it to "Keep the launcher open". Save Profile.
After this is set and you launch the game, console output is in Minecraft Launcher window, Development Console tab.
Reading it may provide some clue about cause of the problem.
You can copy the text and paste it to http://pastebin.com/ (or similar website), submit it and get its link. Post your link in the forum when you ask for help.
- Crash Report
If the game crashes. There is also Crash Report page in launcher window that provides useful information.
- Version and system info
If you ask for help, please provide Minecraft version number, Forge version number, ShadersMod version number, and other mods name and version/edition (if installed).
If non-default launcher is used, you should write its name and version number too.
Also the operating system name and version, graphics adapter name and driver version.
Please be specific. Don't say latest version of everything.

Modpack permission

This statement is about ShadersMod only, not including shaderpacks (which are made by many people).
You can include ShadersMod in mod pack.
However, some computers are not compatible or not powerful enough.
This may cause problem for your users. You should provide support for them.

History

daxnitro created the original GLSL SHADERS mod which create possibility for better-looking Minecraft.
However, in September to October 2012, daxnitro did not update his mod for new Minecraft version 1.3.2-1.4.2. The last version was 2.1.6 for Minecraft 1.3.1.
Many users requested an update for new Mincraft version.
daxnitro said in his post that he allow modification and distribution of his mod.

Quote from daxnitro
class="quote-body">
Modified / Alternate Versions

A few community members have been making modifications to the mod as well as mods that supplement its functionality (It's open source and I encourage people to do so.). If you do this, you can do what you want with it and distribute it how you want, but I highly recommend putting it on the wiki for everyone to download.

So I started updating new version of mod. id_miner also made his updated version of GLSL Shaders mod as well. He post it in his GLSL Shaders OF thread. I am combining his code in my version of shaders mod. He plans to leave development of shaders mod after I include all his added features in my version.
If you like the mod and want to donate to daxnitro, see the link in his thread.

Vauff posted a message on How to Add Colour to Your Server MOTD

Confirmed working with Minecraft 1.12

Welcome to my tutorial on how to colour and format your servers MOTD! If you're here, then you have probably tried to do a MOTD such as "&5Vauff's Awesome Server!". Sadly though, it would have shown up like this.

Let's try to fix this shall we? First we're going to need to get rid of the &5 and make the MOTD "Vauff's Awesome Server!" again. Before we more in depth to tutorial lets go over the colour and formatting codes again.

&0 - BLACK
&1 - DARK BLUE
&2 - DARK GREEN
&3 - DARK AQUA
&4 - DARK RED
&5 - DARK PURPLE
&6 - GOLD
&7 - GRAY
&8 - DARK GRAY
&9 - INDIGO
&a - GREEN
&b - AQUA
&c - RED
&d - PINK
&e - YELLOW
&f - WHITE
&k - Obfuscated
&l - Bold
&m - Strikethrough
&n - Underline
&o - Italic
&r - Reset

Now, in order to get our MOTD coloured or formatted we need to put § instead of the &. So something like &5 would turn into §5. The full list of these is listed below.

§0 - BLACK
§1 - DARK BLUE
§2 - DARK GREEN
§3 - DARK AQUA
§4 - DARK RED
§5 - DARK PURPLE
§6 - GOLD
§7 - GRAY
§8 - DARK GRAY
§9 - INDIGO
§a - GREEN
§b - AQUA
§c - RED
§d - PINK
§e - YELLOW
§f - WHITE
§k - Obfuscated
§l - Bold
§m - Strikethrough
§n - Underline
§o - Italic
§r - Reset

You would also be able to use § in replacement of the & instead of § if you choose to do so.

After replacing the &5 in my MOTD with §5 my MOTD now looks like this.

Hope you found this tutorial helpful :)

Marglyph posted a message on TooManyItems, the inventory editor and more (1.8 Forge is here!)
Marglyph's TooManyItems

Create & customize items, including those not available even in creative mode. Save and load entire inventories. Switch game modes and control time, weather, and more.

Download TMI for Minecraft 1.8 (Forge mod) (2/14 bugfix update)

Download TMI for Minecraft 1.8 (jar mod)

Installing: Put the Forge version of TMI into your Forge mods folder. The non-Forge version may be used with a custom launcher or by installing as a jar mod.

TMI for 1.8 new features:
• The new 1.8 items
• Enhanced enchantment, potion, and firework panels
• All-new custom items: colored leather, player heads, signs with text, filled flower pots, preselected note blocks
• New fuzzy search! You don't have to type all the letters (e.g. rcmp for redstone comparator)
• Press enter in the search box to spawn the top item! Get items quicker than ever
• Everything now fits in a sidebar; no more overlap with potion effects etc.
• Easier My Items (favorites) editing with helpful tooltips
• Rename save states
• Unlimited stacks is now a global setting, along with keep items on death, prevent rain and more
• Unlimited stacks refresh without ModLoader/Forge as long as you've opened the inventory
• Switch to spectator mode
• Improved multiplayer custom item spawning (still only if within chat length limit)
• Fixed some bugs, possibly added new ones
• Removed Herobrine spawner
Copyright: All of TooManyItems except for the small portion excerpted from the original Minecraft game is copyright 2011-2013 Marglyph. TooManyItems is free for personal use only. Do not redistribute TooManyItems, including in mod packs. Making YouTube videos using TMI is good though!

More download versions

Download links have ads on them to provide some support for modding Minecraft. You are not required to click on the ads to download TMI; there is a skip button in the top right corner. You do not need to download any installers or download managers.

For 1.7.9 non-Forge version
For 1.7.2 Forge version

(Note: 1.6.4 version has a problem with the newest Forge that did not exist with the original 1.6.4 Forge release. Unless I have time to go back and fix this, only use 1.6.4F with an older Forge release.)
Older: 1.7.6, 1.7.5, 1.7.4, 1.7.2, 1.6.4, 1.6.4F, 13w48b, 13w47e, 13w42b, 13w41b, 13w39b, 13w38c, 1.6.3 NF, 1.6.2NF, 1.6.2F, 13w38a, 13w37b, 1.6.1 NF, 1.6.1 F

Documentation for old (pre-1.8) TMI
Better documentation for 1.8+ will be up shortly.

Turn On/Off: Press the "o" key while in the inventory screen. You can change this key by editing the configuration file.

Add items: Left-click on items in the right sidebar to add full stacks, or right-click to add one at a time.

Configuration file: Find the directory in which your minecraft saves folder and options.txt are, and once you have used TMI at least once you will also find TooManyItems.txt there. This contains options that you can change, not all of which are documented yet.

Spawners: In some previous versions, to create different kinds of spawners, edit the "spawner" line in the configuration file. Use at your own risk; in some (older) versions of Minecraft, spawners of non-mob entities such as boats can crash the game and wreck your save.

Unlimited stacks/tools (single-player only): Shift-left-click on items in the right sidebar to add unlimited stacks OR unlimited-use tools or flint and steel. ModLoader is required for "true" unlimited stacks. Without ModLoader the quantity of >64 stacks will refresh when you open your inventory.

Tabs: Use the chest, star, and book icons to change between the item, favorites, and enchant tabs.

Favorites: This allows you to save commonly used items. ADD to the favorites panel by: (1) clicking an item on the favorites panel, (2) alt-clicking an item in the items panel, or (3) clicking the Favorite button in the enchant panel. REMOVE an item from the favorites panel by alt-clicking it.

Enchanting: (in SP, or may work on some Bukkit servers) Click an item on the enchanting panel to switch to that type of item. Use the + and - buttons to change the levels of individual enchantments. Click the Create button to make the enchanted item once, or the Favorite button to add it to the favorites panel.

Trash (single-player only): Drop an item stack on the item sidebar or the trash icon to delete it. Click the trash icon to turn "delete mode" on and off (in "delete mode" you will delete any item you click on -- useful for selectively deleting a lot of items). Shift-click thee trash icon to wipe out your inventory.

Game mode: Click the "S", "C", and "A" icons on the toolbar for survival, creative, and adventure mode, respectively.

Time: Click the sun and moon icons to set the time to sunrise, noon, sunset, or midnight.

Difficulty: Click the creeper icon to toggle the difficulty without having to go into game preferences.

Health/hunger: Click the heart icon to set health and hunger to max.

Save states (single-player only): Several slots are available for you to save your entire inventory and restore it later. (The "x" button next to a saved state will remove it.) This can be used to save your "real" inventory before editing, save a blank inventory to clear out everything you're holding, save a full inventory of materials, share inventories between characters, etc.

Multiplayer: You need to be a server op. Also, every non-vanilla server works a little differently. The command issued to the server to give you items is configured in TooManyItems.txt as "give-command". In this command, you should put {0} for the player's username, {1} for the item ID, {2} for the quantity, and {3} for the damage value. If {3} isn't in the command, items with damage values other than 0 won't show up.

Vanilla server command: /give {0} {1} {2} {3}

* Since the vanilla server used to not support item damage with the give command, TMI may still have /give {0} {1} {2} by default. You can now add {3} to the end. The default will be updated in a future TMI version.

Bukkit with the Essentials mod command: /item {1}:{3} {2}

Fast crafting: Right-click on the output square when crafting to craft the maximum possible amount. (Works while the inventory overlay is disabled).

Troubleshooting

Crashes show an error report on a purple and white screen, and you can copy and paste the report into a post. With the latest version of TMI, most errors that would have crashed should instead show a chat message that says a report has been saved to a file in your minecraft folder, and you can copy and paste from that file into a post.

Black screens are caused primarily by: not deleting META-INF from your minecraft.jar, mod conflicts, wrong versions of mods, and improperly installing mods. Please check these things and, if necessary, start fresh from a new minecraft.jar as an old installation problem may still be causing errors.

"TMI doesn't show up": Press the "o" key in your inventory screen to turn TMI on and off. (Unless you have already changed this in your config file.) Your preference about whether TMI should be displayed is separate in single- and multi-player. If this still doesn't work, you probably did not install TMI correctly.

Notes: TMI's code does not run until you open your inventory. Problems creating games are something else. TMI does not change any crafting recipes. You are not forced to use fast crafting: just left click like normal instead of right clicking. Yes, TMI does work in multiplayer, but read the instructions. No, it is not a server mod. Finally, the number of pages of items depends on your Minecraft window size, so, you are not missing items because it doesn't have the same pages as in the screenshot.

Uninstalling: If you manually installed a mod, the only way to uninstall is to either restore your backup copy of minecraft.jar (you did make a backup, right?) or delete minecraft.jar and run the game launcher so it downloads a new minecraft.jar. If you used a mod manager, refer to its instructions.

I was unable to find any extreme hills islands. However, out of about 300 seeds I sifted through, I found two seed candidates you may be interested in.

1. 6363756627284333520

2. -1694901078362892558

Both of these seeds should be used with large biomes. They are both forest islands, although seed 1 has a larger area of forest than seed 2. Assuming you don't alter the default view distance on the server, there should be no other land in sight from the islands. The islands, being on large biomes, are larger than you would expect, but are still finite in size. Depending on the direction of travel, expect to go 1500-5000 blocks to find the mainland, although you may encounter other islands on the way.

If you wish to view it, the first spoiler contains a biome map of first seed, and the second contains a biome map the second seed.

Firstly you could stop making Minecraft servers that literally everyone else has already made.

Secondly not allowing swearing is never a good thing, it brings in only the kids.

Third plugins were NEVER a good thing, in fact I'll go as far as to say they ruin 50% of servers.

Give me hate. I don't care. You're trying something nobody can pull off anymore.

I am disappointed in this host. I cannot manage my server as I get errors within ftp relating to the server that fails to delete anything. I cannot get support as staff are not replying to tickets. I have server management addon and it is a waste of money as no one is doing anything.

The only good thing about this host is the cheap prices. I want to play on my server, not sit here knowing staff are lazy and not able to help. The discord is a waste of time as no one replies within hours of a question.

The Discord server is not one of our support options - it is a community chat and a response should not be expected from our staff there. At the time you posted this message, your tickets had been open for less than 6 hours and our staff had already responded. Response times vary depending on the amount of tickets awaiting a response - they're in a queue and each time a response is made, the ticket is moved to the bottom of the queue. Although we always have staff working (24/7 support), response time will vary depending on the amount of tickets in the queue - during peak times, there will be a longer wait. Regarding Server Management - you had only made a server management request a few minutes before sending this message. I'm not sure if you made a request in Discord, however Discord is not a support option - it needs to be made on our website otherwise we may not see it, and even if we do, we cannot locate or verify ownership of your account.

XAcidMystX posted a message on The Veteran Pack (Alpha Textures and Sounds Resource Pack)[v4.0]
For all you Minecraft Veterans out there I present:
THE VETERAN PACK [v4.0]
The Veteran Pack is a Resource Pack using old minecraft textures and the classic sounds of minecraft.

Screenshots:
Before:After:Before:After:Before:After:Before:After:Before:After:Before:After:Before:After:Next MAJOR version dev screen shot ;D:

Changes/Updates:
v4.0
• fixed lava
• made endermen eyes green. Unfortunately I don't think I can make endermen particles smoke again because the endermen use nether portal particles. This would make the nether portals emit smoke.
• spiders and cave spiders are brown
• default skin now bearded steve
• changed wool spectrum to alpha (Some are the current textures, like black and brown, because they did not exist in alpha)
• minecarts are soundless
• ladders are soundless
• made swimming sounds silent (old splash is still present when swimming :) )
• made axes battle axes
• villagers are soundless
• changed foliage.png a little bit, hopefully making dark oak, acacia, and swamp leaves a little brighter.
• made pigs crosseyed
• removed Herobrine
v3.6
• fixed apple outline
• fixed bread outline
v3.5
• fixed sounds
v3.4
• fixed the accidental downgrade of version in v3.3
v3.3
• fixed double tallgrass 1 gray pixel in bottom
v3.2
• now works for 1.7.2
• added double tallgrass and double ferns ALPHA STYLE
• fixed sound for 1.7.2
v3.1
• fixed explosion animation
v3.0
• removed unnecessary files
• made cooked pork the same as the steak texture
• made charcoal the same texture as coal
• gave chests the sounds of old doors
• fixed stone title screen, thought I already had but it was broken
• fixed potatoes
• now just drag and drop, no extraction required
• removed Herobrine
v2.1
• fixed portals
v2.0
• Fixed lava animation
• Fixed moon
• Fixed leather armor
• Pigs no longer have snouts
• Ghast fireball now a flaming snowball again
• Old Mojang logo
• removed Herobrine
v1.1
• gave food outlines
• Fixed cocoa beans

Please give feedback and let me know if you find any mistakes or think of anything I have missed.A few things that cannot be fixed currently:
• Any mob that falls down that normally shares falling sounds with Steve will make the Steve falling sound (if you need clarification, push a cow off a cliff XD)
• Swamps and other dark colored biomes are screwed up in coloring
Here it is:
WARNING: NOSTALGIA IS A CERTAINTY
For greatest nostalgia, set brightness to moody and smooth lighting to off.

Play something else. When you're bored of a game you're bored of it. It isn't some kind of disease or mental block, you're just bored. Play something else, let your mind get absorbed into something else for a while, and eventually you'll want to play again.
