And the boss should be in a structure like a graveyard or a crypt (Something to do with the undead). And the portal is a door that is behind the boss and the skeleton key is used to open it.
I can see this idea going well.
ive always though of the boss being like a giant bone worm, but ive also thought of a skeleton army type boss that you have to survive until one of them drops the skeleton key along any other skeleton loot you might want and open the exit. you can keep the skeleton key if you want to to farm the montane dungeon by opening the key locks on the door with the skeleton key
Maybe said dungeon would be opened using a Skeleton Key (just a little thought that could possibly work)
and you would get that key from a boss in the overworld reminicent of the undead warlord, but a skeleton, and you keep it through your adventures in the mod till its needed in the end
mabye if u get the time for it, hows about rare unique titan drops that 1. help greatly with the next titan, and 2. makes previous titans easier to kill, as a way to add "trophies" or boss drops beyond the giant amount of stuff they drop, and give a reason to go back and kill lesser titans fir better stuff, like a giant wither bow, a pet ghast summoning item, a "supersized" silverfish saddle (SSS), a giant spider fang with special poison that deals a ton extra damage to titans, a creeper crusher ( boomboom ), or the endertitans eye (idk, a deathbeam or sumfin)
heres an idea, you should make another dungeon dimension, something going along the theme of skeletons and the lower you get, the harder (mabye hotter) things will get.
ok, juz sayin, but this mod is REALLY cool. constant updates with lots of new content, the bosses, the equipment, I LOVE IT but mabye make a few 3-D staves, since there are so many 3-D weapons

it would be like a god fight like craexxeus, as in really long and a lot of attacks, but really rewarding
the boss would have 3 forms that all connect during the battle, named Tideus, Iceus, and Aereus
now to the attacks!
Tideus, the First Element: melee:10 (seeing as its a flying blob of water) range:5 (seeing as its a blob of water)
the first stage you would fight in this battle. Tideus, appears as a flying water being with no feet. he has 4000 hp, flies towards you attacking with melee and the occasional water projectile. the projectile will drop water on contact, and this is important for the next stage of the fight. he is immune to potion effects
when you have defeated Tideus, you will enter the next stage
Iceus, the Second element: melee:25 range:15
Tideus is the second stage of the battle: he appears as a spiky, icy titan, slowly walking towards the player. he has 1000, which seems low, but for a reason. he attacks with heavy melee, and occasionaly will shoot a bolt of ice that slows you down to almost a halt for 3 secs. he is invincible for the most part, but he looses his invincibility once he is in water. he will even take rapid damage as long as he is in water, helping get damage on him if you dont get a weapon in time. once killed, he enters the third and most risky stage. he is immune to potion effects and magic/energy weapons
Aereus, the Third Element: melee:15 range:5
Aereus is the third stage of the fight, and the most risky. he appears as a floating being made of rapidly spinning tornadoes. Aereus will fly towards the player, having a decent gravitational pull, seeing as hes a living tornado, which slowly losses potency as his health lowers. his melee will throw you far into the air, like smash at low health. either land in the water, or have lunar armor to save you from fall damage. his projectile will also knock you into him, so be aware of them. he 3000 hp, but only 2000/3000, because he heals in water rapidly, and if let to heal to full health, he will turn into Tideus, therefore starting over the whole battle, so either dont let him enter water, or have a reliable source of fast damage (noxious/underworld staff) he is immune to potion effects and all physical types of damage, seeing as a sword, arrow and bullets fly right though him (hes a flying clump of air) only magic and energy weapons can deal sufficient damage to him, seeing as they attact the soul, not the body.
if you do kill Aereus without him reincarnating Tideus, he will drop 1 of three different greatblades: Sky Slice, Ice Spike, and Tide Turner. the three work like a primordial greatblade, shooting a projectile 40% on a hit, but they each have different perks
Sky Slice fires a projectile that throws your enemies into the air. 20 dmg, projectile deals 10
Tide Turner heals half a heart on a hit, and the projectile heals half a heart, and infinetly pierces enemies, healing half a heart on each pierce. it deals 15 dmg. projectile does no damage
Ice Spike shoots a projectile that slows you enemies extremely effectively, and deals double damage to slowed enemies. 18 dmg, projectile does 10.
Can you make a forum with all of your aoa skns? you can use mediafire for it or even imgur. I would prefer you use mediafire so that it is easier to download.
