They're still redundant. And before you say: "Fine, they won't hurt you and they will give you Fire Protection and Speed" think about the concept of food for a sec, food doesn't give you magical abilities (except for golden apples, I don't know why they added that), potions do.
That's a good point, but this *is* food from hell. Now I agree, it shouldn't be any kind of major effect, but it could have a very minor one. Healing half a heart of health instead of hunger for instance.
Let's re-work the fruit a bit. What if it rarely spawned on netherrack inside nether fortress chunks and had a 50/50 chance of restoring one and a half hunger or 2 secs of regen?
PS: I will NOT accept rude or meaningless comments that don't include some suggestions.
I don't think you quite know how the internet works.
As for the suggestion, I think that having to prepare to head into the nether is really part of the experience, and that running out of food is a result of not preparing enough. It is hell after all. As for the food itself, I don't think it should be craftable, quite frankly the recipe is a little convoluted and expensive, but maybe a more simple food could be added and with it you could brew a potion with a similar effect as described.
Dinnerbone, if you're listening here's my additions to the Super Scary Update.
Transmorg Potion: Mundane potions are pretty useless right now, let's change that. Brew a mundane potion with any mob head and get a transmorg potion that'll change you into and exact replica of the mob. Size, movement and sound will all be identical to the mob but armor will still show and your name will be hidden. Transmorg potions cannot be made into splash but will last a long time or until you drink milk. This isn't only for trick or treating though, use it to blend in and scare your friends, or hide in plain sight. Unfortunately, your disguise won't fool mobs.
Distract: [Awkward Splash Potion + Coal] Mobs will be drawn to where it lands. Mobs will attack any players or other mobs it hits. Mostly a novelty potion and perfect for "tricking" those that don't give treats.
Detect: [Invisibility Potion + Fermented Spider Eye] Can be brewed into a splash potion. Effected targets can be seen through walls by a light outline even while sneaking. Strength of the potion determines how far the player can be seen. Splash Potions of Detection only last 20 seconds(?) Can be used in dispenser traps against invisible intruders or while adventuring with a friend to help find each other. Non-splash Detection lasts much longer. Effect can also be removed with milk. Always make sure you have one of these while trick or treating. You don't want to get lost do you?
Do you have any suggestions to add to this list? Please let me know!
How often you expect to play: I will likely play very often so long as the server remains active.
What you like to do in Minecraft: I like to collect riches, then hide them in temples. Aside from that, I like to build and fill storerooms with materials.
great server, i am a proud member! Bumped... and black4ugust anything in minecraft is there and allowed, accept cheats ofc...mods, hacked clients, and i think even xray texture packs are not allowed. Pvp is on also but its whitelisted, i don't think any greifers would go through applying...you know?
Thank you, you have been quite helpful.
IGN: black4ugust Age: 21 Why we should consider you: Primarily, because I use proper grammar and I have removed my caps lock key. Though I suspect you want to hear that I'm a mature individual capable of normal interaction with others over the internet. Also, I'm a decent architect. How do you feel about vanilla servers: I would rather play on a true vanilla server than any other server, save the occasional PvP game. Do you, or have you ever griefed? I neither have, nor ever will. Skype: Will be sent in a private message.
I have a couple questions before I submit an application:
First, how new is the land generation? I'm assuming that it's 1.3 generated judging by the time stamp on this thread, but is it a standard map, not large biomes?
Second, and a rather shady question, are creepers and TnT enabled? I do quite a bit underground building and TnT is immensely helpful.
i like the fatigue ive always wanted something like that in minecraft
I'm glad you like it. The biggest point of fatigue is to get some diversity in how people play, especially in PvP. This way we're also more likely to see people in leather or chain mail, which at the moment is practically no one.
A little bit of background: For quite some time I've been annoyed at how little personal play-style there is in Minecraft. It seems that the first thing everyone does is search for diamonds, then enchant it for prot 4 and feather fall 4 armor. I aim for a little diversity in the, rather monotonous, combat. These changes could allow for better ranged combat or quick guerrilla-esk skirmishes. The suggestions here are meant to be simple and easily adopted into the game. If you feel that any of these effects would be too difficult for people adapt to please let me know. Also, this has been posted on reddit so if you like any or all of these ideas I encourage you to head over there and show it some love. If you absolutely hate it and think it should be buried, then go ahead, just know you'll be crushing my hopes and dreams.
Armor changes:
Fatigue: Almost no one wears leather armor. It's bothersome to craft and is nearly useless when compared to a simple suit of iron. In order to increase its usefulness and cater to other play-styles, I propose that heavier armor such as Iron and Diamond add fatigue. Fatigue would work by making walking, sprinting and jumping cost slightly more hunger and when you are below half (or so) hunger you'll move slightly slower. If you are unarmored or wearing light armor (leather or chain-mail) then you won't be effected by fatigue unless injured. When injured, regenerating health also costs hunger.
Leather Armor:
Because of other changes leather should be given a little more durability.
Leather should also only be able to receive Protection three.
Chain-Mail:
Chain-mail pieces should be offered more by black smiths or a random piece offered at third(?) tier trading.
Changes to Enchanting:
Higher level enchants at top tier enchanting.
Possible negative effects given at top tier enchanting.
In the tool-tip positive enchantments should be a light blue while negative enchantments should be a light red.
New Enchantments: Positive Effects:
Tempered: Similar to Unbreaking. Can only be enchanted to Heavy Armor.
Light Weight: Sprint and jumping cost less hunger. Can only be enchanted to Light Armor.(?)
Leap: Increases sprint jump length. (NOT height) Can only be enchanted to Light shoes and pants. (Increases by half a block each)
Aim: Decreases arrow vertical drop. Can only be enchanted to chest. (Or better for bow?) Cannot be enchanted with Draw.
Draw: Faster arrow draw but removes critical effect. Can only be enchanted to chest. (Or better for bow?) Cannot be enchanted with Aim.
Holy/Sacred: All actions cost less hunger. Can only be enchanted to Heavy chest and legs
Metabolism: Regenerate hunger slightly faster but burn twice as much hunger.
Bolt(after Usain Bolt): Increases sprint speed at the cost of additional hunger. Can only be enchanted to Light(?) shoes.
Negative Effects:
Restricting/Encumbered: Sprinting and jumping costs more hunger. Can only be enchanted to chest or legs only.
Scarred/Chinked: Opposite effect of Unbreaking Can be enchanted to all armor.
Corrupted: All actions cost more hunger. Can only be enchanted to chest and pants
Coveted/Shiny: Mobs see you from further away. (distance determined by armor worn) Can be enchanted to all armor. Most common negative enchantment.
I'm unsure of much of this so I would very much love your input on the names and enchantment effects. I would also love to hear recommendations from you for additional enchantments or enchantment restrictions and other ways to balance these effects.
Bonus: New Potions
Distract: [Awkward Splash Potion + Coal] Mobs will be drawn to where it lands. Mobs will attack any players or other mobs it hits. Mostly a novelty potion

Just wondering, is the server difficulty set to easy? It seems like there isn't enough mobs spawning at night. Would be nice if the difficulty could be bumped up a bit.
Free-only building events.
MsDigger is demoted.
About 30 members+ temp perma banned. Oh no!
Envionz becomes mod!
Innocent ones eventually unbanned.
People who were exploiting something stayed banned.
Oh Mai! Somebody's breaking into people's chests!
Knvm the Sr.Wardens fixed it.
Kuan The Lurker becomes Warden.

Well, I don't know about that, I just posted some good Halloween themed ones if you'd like to have a look at those.
