A fox would be fast moving, and well hidden. If you are within five meters of them, they stalk you. When you face them, they hide. If you get within two meters of them, they flee quickly. Incredibly hard to kill because they are so fast and well hidden. If you attack them, they will bite you if close enough. The bite will cause one heart of damage, and stun you for two seconds, which the fox will use to run away. If you manage to kill a fox, you get fox fur, which can be used to craft fox fur clothes, which work like armour.
Maybe the mole tunnels could be self-sealing, but dirt would be replaced with loose dirt, rock would be replaced with loose rock and so on. Loose blocks would obey gravity.
I was thinking of another mob type. A lot of people want another way to get gunpowder. I thought of the jumper. It would look like a creeper, but with no legs. Instead, it would have a cut in the middle, vertically, so that it could crouch down, and spring back up. It could jump two blocks instead of the normal one, and move very fast. Its attack wouldn't be very powerful, but it would be hard to hit. Like the creeper explodes, the jumper would propel itself from the ground. What results is that you would be sent flying up to twenty meters. The explosion wouldn't damage you, but the fall would. If killed before it launches, it drops some gunpowder.
I've seen plenty of ghost ideas, but no spectres. My idea for spectres, is to have a mob that can transform into any other mob, and changes every few minutes. They are completely silent, and have a very subtle transparency, but other than that, are indistinguishable from their solid counterparts. They cannot hurt you in any way, but if they walk through you, you get temporarily stunned. The can only be killed by electrocution (see my electrocution idea here http://www.minecraftforum.net/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=65239) and would drop ectoplasm, which could be used for two things. =ectoplasm
would create a spectre, but the spectre would only be a chicken. []
while replacing [] with whatever block you want, would create a ghost block, which would look like a regular block, but you could walk right through it. Good for secret entrances and traps.
When used, you could connect it to a redstone circuit. There, it would slowly drain (it would last 3 day/night cycles) and electrocute monsters that touch it like a cactus, but more harmful.
I think this would maybe make the game a bit too easy to navigate. I had a similar idea.
Compass Beacons.
I was thinking that it might be useful to craft an object that a compass will point towards. The bad thing is that a compass will always point to the nearest beacon, so you could just get even more lost if you have a lot of beacons. Your spawn point is a default beacon, and beacons behave like normal blocks and can be destroyed with a pickaxe. []

There should be a naturally occurring block underground that absorbs light, rendering light sources useless. On the other hand, all of the light that it absorbs is concentrated into one small area. This means that the light is very bright, but doesn't cover much area. I was thinking that it might be found in dungeons and could be used for lighting up small areas such as corridors.
I am in favor of the golem idea. I think that it should have a guard range of 5 blocks from where it's placed. If a mob comes into that range, the golem attacks. It probably should be able to kill about 3 mobs at weakest and 12 mobs at strongest, depending on material. I was thinking of the following recipe. =clay =sword =furnace

Then you place the golem, and right click it with fuel. At most, it should be activated for one day/night at a time. When destroyed, I think it should drop a furnace and a sword. Note that this idea may not be practical because clay is very rare.
I was creating some electrical lighting using lava which could be allowed to flow through a door which could be opened and closed, turning the light on and off. While doing this, I thought that perhaps a lightbulb might be a good idea in minecraft. =glass = redstone torch =redstone dust
Another idea was a lead block which could be used as a building material or as a material with which to make long lasting, but slow, tools.
Another idea was mirrors, which would reflect light, illuminating an area even more, but it relies on a preexisting light source. =glass =iron (bars)

My final idea was a new weapon. A spear. The spear could move faster than the sword, but break faster too. =stick = smooth stone
