posted a message on Reason for Minecraft to have a language filter
Really, it's up to the server admin. I don't mind the occasional swear, but when it gets to be constant, usually they are just saying repetitive cusses that don't even make sense. Mostly, I just don't like filters, because they almost always catch words that are perfectly harmless. One forum I know blocks the word "okapi" when the okapi is simply a harmless mammal related to the giraffe that lives in africa. Another forum blocks the word "cross," for no apparent reason (other religious symbols are fine), which makes giving directions nearly impossible.

    Man, your mobs are GOOD!

I wish you'd make a Player Spider model for me...

I actually made a spider-player skin. Albeit, not a very good one. Would you like to see it?

I might as well post an idea.

    Madness Potion:
(1 2 4 and 5 will be the secondary stuff as 3 will be the main part)

    [1. Raw Pork]
    [2. Poison] [3. Slime ball] [4. Poison]
    [5. Raw Pork]

The potions disorients all who touch it, enemies will turn on their friends, non-hostile mobs will become suicidal or hostile, and the player will be confused. If a player steps in it, their vision will go blurred and wavy, enemies will appear as non-hostile mobs and vice versa (not all of them). If this potion is placed on something that isn't stone (like sand and dirt) it will be absorbed into it after some time, making it impossible to retrieve, but also causing the blocks it touches to be toxic, and will seep through the dirt till it can't go through more.

Interesting. I will probably change the recipe, though.

    posted a message on WitchCraft
All of the results I found for "witch" were misspellings of "which" so...

    WhichCraft
On Mr. Torb's Necrocraft thread, Mr. Torb commented that one of my ideas sounded like witchcraft. That is what inspired me to make this thread. I called it witchcraft on account of all the potential bad puns pertaining to minecraft.

There are three main types of witchcraft in this thread. Potionmaking, Transforming, and Conjuring. Potionmaking always uses a liquid base, and makes a liquid which has special effects. Transforming turns one object into another, and conjuring creates an entirely new object. For witchcrafting, you first need a witches pedestal.

And yes, the block in the middle is a gold block. The witches pedestal is a half block high, and when you right click it, it opens up to this menu.

The red square in the center is the base ingredient. The green squares represent additives, and the purple square is the finished product. Like a furnace, you need to wait some time for the product to be made. Eight seconds unless stated otherwise.

    Potion Making

For potion making, you need a golden bowl.

Don't worry, you get the bowl back after every potion. The potion is made in the bowl. Remember? Unless specifically stated, all potions can only be picked up with a golden bowl. You cannot make an infinite spring out of any potions.

This makes poison. Poison moves as fast as water, but only spreads six blocks. When stepped on, it deals half a heart of damage every second, and for four seconds after you step out of it.

Yes, that's a bowl of lava in the middle. This makes a flammable liquid. Like poison, it flows like water but only for six blocks. When set on fire, the fire almost instantly spreads to any adjacent flammable liquid blocks. To put out the fire, scoop up the liquid.

This is a madness potion. When you step in it, all hostile mobs appear a harmless mobs, and vice versa. Any mobs that step in it will not see you. The effects last for sixteen seconds. (Credit to Flubbedpig for the idea).

    Transforming

This is a fire pick. It chops through obsidian in four seconds, but against anything else, it is like wood, but it pre-smelts any ores. It has the same durability as iron. (Don't worry. When you're done, the golden bowl appears on top of the pedestal as an item you can pick up.

This is fertilizer. It's sort of a joke for witchcraft. Plants (saplings, wheat, etc) grow 1.5 times as fast on it.

    Conjuring

This is quicksand. It is a single block that you can place. When on it, you move at half your normal speed and you slowly sink into it. It takes four seconds to completely sink through one block.

I don't think pigmen should be summonable. They are somewhat civilized.

    Oh. And, Mr.Torb,

How about a "Voodoo Doll" sort of thing. The voodoo doll would look exactly like you. Right clicking on it allows you to equip it with armour. What would basically happen is, when a voodoo doll is placed, and you are killed, you don't die, but the doll does. You might, however, lose some items (roughly a 10% chance). If you have more than one voodoo doll, they will all die the same, making it only practical to have one at a time. I'm not sure how it would be made, though.

Heh, thats more of a witchcraft thing. Would be interesting to have a "witchcraft" suggestion that featured witchcraft as a mix of enchanting, potion crafting, and special objects (seeing as actually shooting fireballs out of your hand is a big no-no).

    I'm creating a witchcrafting thread.

I am now making Darkstone a very useful tool to avoid the over saturated light, it will protect you from the rays and it will be over abundant in the safe zone areas (to such an extent that you have enough to mine but still not enough to over spawn heaps of monsters) and you mine it when you want the ability to place it. Overhanging structures and islands will also protect you from direct sun damage, thus the value of a house increases (the house that features a roof).

A while ago, I had an idea for light sponges. Darkstone could be a similar object.

posted a message on Aura mobs. Found in the aether, and uncommonly near portals.
First off, sure, I think these might be great in the ether. I'll go change the OP.

    Quote from sarge_azza »
I do like the idea of this, though as said previously it perhaps wouldn't fit well in the nether. If it is fine to put some of my own input in, I think that having them spawn rarely in dungeons would be a more interesting way of refreshing the excitement and adventure found.

I would also suggest giving the mob s 1v2 size (similar to zombie, creeper, etc.) in order to make them easier to hit, and have them able to spawn in any 3x3 or larger areas, with their effects working through walls as well. This would make it harder for players in the manner that the mob doesn't necessarily have to be in the room with them, so they would have to dig through walls to find them, but when found they would be much easier to defeat due to the larger target, thus making such a mob as a sort os scavenger-hunt game when they are around.

1 thing I would like to ask is how the aura/ability would work. By this I mean you have mentioned that for some of them (eg. Fire) there is a percentage of chance that the player and their surroundings will be effected by them. In order to do this, would you perhaps have a timer effect (eg. every 20 seconds the mob's ability activates, and the percentages of chance come into play), when a player approaches (eg. it activates once when the player is in the 8x8 radius range, and the effected blocks continue to stay effected until the player is out of range) or some other method?

If you were able to get back to me on my question it would be greatly appreciated, I hope my reply may help in some way and suggest you keep up the good work!

I was thinking of making then 2x2x2 cubes, and yes, effects working through walls would work (although maybe there should be a block that they don't work through. The auras affect anything (block, mob, etc,) in their effect radius. They are active no matter what. (Except for the creeper auras explosion.)

I am going to add that they float, and give the dark aura a new ability.

Fun. If getting mobs to go places (such as leaving a trail of flowers for the sheep to eat or something), this could be used to remotely detonate large explosions, as redstone only goes fifteen blocks.
