Well, I only included the tracks because they were important as to how some of the minecarts worked. I have no intention of adding more tracks unless they're necessary.
I have some cart ideas here, and thought that, since this thread seems to focus not so much on carts as what interacts with them, that I'd post these here.
why post a suggestion for something that isn't implemented in-game?
I don't think I quite understood this post. If something is in-game already, it needs no suggesting. This idea has not been implemented, so it has every right to be suggested.
Are there? I looked through that thread before posting this one, and didn't see anything like this...
I'll go back and check.
EDIT: I checked again. The only thing I saw that was similar was the pressure track/cart detecting block. My idea focuses mainly on new types of carts.
This topic focuses mainly on the addition of more types of minecarts. But to start we need redstone tracks.
This makes sixteen redstone tracks.
Redstone tracks can be powered by redstone to supply power to any cart passing over it. Apart from that, redstone tracks behave like any other track.
This makes eight (four?) pressure tracks. A wooden pressure track will register all carts and only carts. A stone one will be restricted to carts with mobs in them, as well as dispenser, furnace, bookshelf, TNT and chest minecarts. When activated, a pressure track will send a charge to the cart passing over it and any adjacent redstone dust or redstone tracks. To avoid possible glitches with intersections, pressure tracks can only be placed straight.
Now onto the carts. Note that all of these carts will drop their components when destroyed.

Where is a dispenser and is a minecart. This makes a dispenser minecart. When activated via a redstone or pressure track, it will shoot whatever is in it straight in front of it. Good for clearing mobs off of tracks while on the move. Also, with clever laying down of tracks, you could make an automated defense system.
[]
[]
This makes a TNT cart. When hit or activated with redstone, a TNT cart starts its timer. It goes on for slightly longer than normal TNT, allowing for a bit more distance. Then it explodes with the force of a creeper. I think the use of this is self explanatory.
[]
[]
This makes a bookshelf minecart. A bookshelf minecart would only be useful if books were ever to be customized, and then only placeable in bookshelves. Apart from that, it can be used as a weight to activate pressure tracks.
Message Minecarts:
You will now be able to place signs on plain minecarts. Aiming properly will allow you to destroy the sign without destroying the cart. This allows you to send messages via minecart (which you could do with a bookshelf minecart, but this is more efficient for short messages).
Redstone torch Minecarts:
You can also place a redstone torch on a plain minecart. This will activate any redstone tracks it rolls over.
I'd also like to see carts with mobs in them having a slow, but constant, forward momentum. While also having practical uses, such as sending mobs off to locations (possibly to a remote location to kill itself with a TNT cart), it would also be fun to have a zombie messenger delivering message minecarts to people.
Muncher! I'm surprised at you! You didn't give your "making something optional does not make it good" speech! Okay. I'll give it.
Saying something is optional does not mean it should be in the game. If it were, then I could say "let's add guns and nuclear bombs and other stuff not suited for minecraft, but it's okay because it's optional." Think. If everything were optional, how many options would there be? Leave the options menu for important stuff, like difficulty level, or else stuff that are definitely good, but may lag some computers (or something like that), like the new lighting system.
TROLL SQUAD ASSEMBLE!
YOUR LEADER DEMANDS FULL FRONTAL ASSAULT ON THIS THREAD!
ALL CIVILIANS EVACUATE THE VICINITY!
But really,
This idea is so utterly stupid and idiotic words can not describe.
Meth is not needed nor wanted in minecraft. Either, make a real suggestion or just leave.
No one wants you here, no one will care if you leave.
I never thought I'd be happy to see Muncher. Well, actually this is something like the fourth time.
And you forgot one thing.
Dislike =/= jealousy.
Because he's going to say that anyone who dislikes his idea is just jealous that they couldn't think of it.
You're just not getting it. Do you not understand English or something? I specifically state what you're doing wrong, and you completely ignore me. Read the rules. They're right here.

Zombies should not bleed because their blood has dried already.
Skeletons should not bleed because... they're skeletons. No flesh.
Do creepers even have blood?
What about ghasts?
And Notch specifically changed the skin of the zombie pigman to avoid blood.
Thus, this game should have no blood.
Good day.

If you want blood, get a mod and/or texture pack.

Anyway, I'm willing to do some art for this thread if needed. I can also try to help with some of the mobs. Just throwing it out there.
