    posted a message on [64x][1.0] Ovo's Rustic Pack v1.7
Yay it's being updated! This is definitely one of my favorite texture packs. :smile.gif: I've always loved building tiny little cottages in the wilderness and this is the perfect pack for it! The log and plank textures are just so awesome. Anyways I hope this pack will keep going until the final release of minecraft comes out. :biggrin.gif:

I've always loved the idea of dark and mysterious dimensions like this. I'll definitely be downloading. You should also add some type of goblins that roam the woods (just an idea).

posted a message on How to NEVER get lost in caves again.
    Quote from Xnut

This tip helps, but there are some cases where this does not help you.

In complex cave systems where the tunnels branches out and loops around back to a tunnel you have previously explored this method will only tell you in what direction you went when you explored the tunnel, not necessarily what direction you need to go to get out of the cave.

And as pointed out, if you fall and find yourself in a dark place you will not know what side you should place the torches on. So in order to not mess up the system you need to place torches on the floor, then explore until you find a tunnel that you have previously explored and then back track to place torches for navigation.

Personally I use this system when exploring.
Any tunnel that I have explored and found out that it is a dead end I will go back to the nearest intersection and quickly build a small archway out of cobblestone, this marks that it's a dead end. Cobblestone is not optimal as it does not stand out that much and if you do it incorrectly it might look like a dungeon. But you always have a lot of cobblestone that you don't need when exploring, and cobblestone rarely occurs naturally (exceptions being dungeons and lava/water combination). I suppose you can use dirt or gravel, but that might be harder for you to tell if it's man made or not as it also occurs naturally in the caves.

As for exits I usually just place a single block of sandstone (sandstone stands out nicely and I don't really use it for anything so I normally have a few stacks just sitting unused in my chests). So when I want to find the exit I just follow the breadcrumbs (sandstone).

In very complex cave systems it often helps blocking off tunnels and creating dead ends so that you can't accidentally walk in circle and thus get confused.

These techniques have been really useful. The whole blocking off previously explored tunnels thing really helps since I have almost no sense of direction in the those really big winding caves. Anyways thank you for these tips. :smile.gif:

posted a message on [Coming Soon!] Quintessential Creatures 2.0
Wait a minute here... when I first found quintessential creatures on the forum my assumption was it would be a mod mainly for Firehazurds mob suggestions. If that's true then why are there so many people asking for things like koalas and snow leopards? Do those people even realize the mod is based off Firehazurds suggestions?
