posted a message on Item Models
I was just curious about the possibility of making a Minecraft mod that would display actual 3D models for items held in your hand. I have experience with 3D modeling but not programming...

I think it would be nice to have an actual, 3D pickaxe instead of a pixel one.

Is it possible? If so, I'm officially requesting a mod for it. :smile.gif:

I agree, but I keep being told other wise. So I'll just slap an unconfirmed tag on it for the sake of it.

Heh, perhaps that's best. It's actually unconfirmed as being neither in 1.8 nor not being 1.8. Apparently pending confirmation from Jens.

Going by every 1.8 video I've watched so far, torches don't emit light when being held. They only do so when placed, like normal. The bad quality on Notch's PAX streams made it look like mobile light, but if you watch the higher quality videos (Like this!) you can see no mobile light from torches.

posted a message on Will 1.8 really add an adventure element?
Honestly, I'd like to see Mojang focusing more on the atmosphere of the environment. Vines in forests, rocks and boulders on the ground, more plant life in general. Perhaps rare apples trees. Stalactites and stalagmites in caves, seaweed in oceans, cat tails on river sides, etc.

EDIT: Also more varied tall grasses and giving desert shrubs an actual use. Perhaps desert shrubs could drop between 2 and 5 sticks. At least then they have some tiny use.

I cannot agree with this at all. If there's going to be pvp, it should be based a player's own personal skill and experience, not on how much free time they have to grind levels. Granted, Minecraft is a shallow experience in terms of competition gaming (whent compared to, say, an RTS or a fighting game), but adding power leveling isn't going to make it any better. I can guarantee that much.

Assuming that there are even combat-related skills...

The "mystery" bar is confirmed as the EXP bar, so I think it should be moved to the confirmed section.

Quit complaining about it being in USD. It doesn't freaking matter what currency it's in, just go do a calculation to convert it to Euros and get over it.

posted a message on Making Creative Mode Replace Peaceful
Every time I've played on Easy or Normal, there's absolutely no noticeable difference. I don't play on Hard, assuming it's not much different besides a little enhanced spawn rate. Honestly, the game's difficulty levels could be split up like so:

    Creative
    Peaceful
    Normal
    Hardcore (Or just Hard.)

It would also be beneficial to make Normal and Hardcore actually different. Hell, increase enemy damage by 50% and increase spawns by a noticeable amount. That's hardcore, right?

posted a message on Making Creative Mode Replace Peaceful
Not everybody plays Peaceful for the sole purpose of building. It's foolish to assume that every Peaceful player is only playing it because it's as close to Creative as they can get.

People, myself included (sometimes), play Peaceful because they enjoy having to gather their resources and legitimately build a home without having to deal with monsters that became boring and quite frankly pointless after the first time they were encountered.

Creative is nothing like Peaceful and should never replace Peaceful.

    gold- ???

Have it so that it retains its durability and protection, but that wearing a full set of Gold armor gives you a very slight chance to get 2 ore instead of 1 when you mine an ore block. Mayhaps like a 10% or 15% chance, playing off of the fact that Gold is associated with Luck properties in some games.

Farlander sounds like Highlander. Now say "Farlander" like "HIIIIIIGHHHLANNNNNDAHHHH!" and you're immediately sold on the name change.

    [FACT]

False. That makes Farlander sound even worse than it already does. But I don't care what they change it to. I'll call them Endermen, regardless.

Endermen all the way. I think its association with Slender Man is the reason that it's creepier, and Notch wants creepy. Farlanders just sounds like a society of nomadic, futuristic assholes. (Totally not creepy.)
