    Even though I don't really like the new power rails (they are weak, should be a bit stronger), I though it would be nice to make an Minecart station which would be completely legit.

    I came up with this concept.
    It's not using any glitches (as far as I know), so people who like to play "legit" can get few basic ideas and make something out of this. I made this in my test world, using the "TooManyItems" mod.

    I made just the main parts, I didn't build buttons to chose the destination. If you want that, I would recommend to use this design. It's compact, easy to use, easy to expand.

    This project uses ~40 powered rails and 10 detector rails. I doubt it's possible to make it with less rails. Empty carts lose easily momentum and speed. It would be easy to put the dispenser under the station, but then it would require even more powered tracks. With a stack of gold, you can make a nice big station which would send you quite a long distance.
    Powered tracks aren't as bad as I thought at first. The only weak part is that they give to little momentum to empty carts. That should be fixed.

    Minecart dispenser:
    The dispenser is the "hardest" to build. It requires a lot of space and some easy, but annoying redstone.
    Once the cart in the stations leaves the station, it sends a signal to the first cart in the dispenser. It leave the dispenser and sends a signal to the second cart. The second cart moves to the first place and sends a signal to the third. This repeats until all carts in the dispenser move by 1 place.

    According to the picture, it should work. The only solution I can think is what many people already wrote, destroy the torches and replace them. You could also destroy the blocks and replace them since sometimes even that is needed to reset the torches.

    EDIT:
    Look under the block of the turned off torch. It could be that there is a burning torch under it that prevents it from turning on.

    Yeah, I know it's stupid, but **** can always happen, especially if you try your best to prevent it. :SSSS:

    An autosave that will do the job right, on a small, regular bases. I hate when the game crashes. It saves my coordinations, but not the surrounding. Next time I log in, I'm IN a solid 10x10 stone block. JUST GREAT!!!!! I hate this.

    Also, logical gates for redstone would be nice. Making gates doesn't really require skill. Just time. So gates won't really take the "magic" away since it won't make building complicated stuff easier. Just smaller.

    Buff powered tracks.

    Try placing 2-3 buttons instead of 1. Since this is only useful in multiplayer and SMP has some lag, it will be extremely hard to hit 1 button.

    I like the idea. Gonna rebuild this as soon as I fix my graphic card.

    I'm currently using a combination of the old booster and the booster tracks.
    Instead of using doors to start/stop booster carts, I use booster tracks.

    The booster room in my minecart station was 10x10x8. Now I use 1x8x3. The booster tracks are to weak to be used on their own, but when combined with the old booster, it's great. The only problem I see is that they are omni-directional. They can't start a minecart on even ground. You need to stop them when going downhill, so that they can be boosted when needed. I wish there were directed booster tracks. Could make my station even smaller.

    My opinion about the new tracks. They are really useful, but they can't replace the old booster. They are more cost effective if you need to go a small distance. 50-150 blocks. But when you go over 300 block, old boosters are more cost effective. An old booster with 8 tracks can boost you over 300 blocks on flat ground. With every additional track on the booster, you get ~100 blocks.

    Don't worry about _01.
    There should be _02 tomorrow to fix this minetrack placing bug. Sometimes they don't curve right so you have to destroy them and replace them. Annoying as hell.

    If we rely only on powered tracks, gold should be much more commune. Those tracks are really weak. Every 15 blocks to keep max speed or so. At least what I've noticed. Maybe I'm wrong. But I know for sure that you need them on every second block when going uphill.
    If you plan to build anything bigger, you will need insane numbers of those tracks.

    I never understood why Gold was as rare as diamonds. Hell, I even have more Diamonds in my main world then Gold.

    Powered Rails need a HUGE buff. Pushing empty carts less then 10 blocks, that's useless for any serious cart structures. Neither is is any good with a person in it.
    And we need 2 versions of detection rails. 1 for empty, 1 for full carts.

    For now, I like boosters more.
