It's very nice of me to reply two months late. I've been too busy eating cookies, that's why.
Thanks for the kind words. I really miss the server and everyone in it too, but alas I've had a very busy year and I can't see how I would've had time for Minecraft or gaming at all. Maybe one day in the future I will again have the chance to admin a server, and then I'd be sure to spam every old Road to Fortuner out there about it
As for the map... Yeah, I know we haven't made much progress on that lol xD And I'm way too lazy to do anything about it now. But feel free to spam me about at some other point, and we'll see
//Bert
EDIT: And yes; please note that RtoF IS completely closed. Any Minecraft server that might be using our old IPs have nothing to do with us.
So, as you might know, the server has its second birthday now the 26th of May
So, while it's Monday the 26th of May in Australia, we will launch the Birthday Adventure on Sunday the 25th. Time: 6-9pm UTC. (Americans - this is rather early for you. Day time. I hope you can still make it!) We will give you an exact time later on.
Make sure you can join! It will be a large birthday adventure inside a huge cake! If you can't make it in time, it will still be open for free tries later on, just like the old Birthday event. But... if you join the event when it starts, you might have chances to be the first one to complete it! Great prizes await for the three first players to complete it and survive...
This server has made history!!
Well, we can't be sure we're the first ones to do it, but it's definitely something we can be proud for forever.
You guys made it in time and baked ONE MILLION COOKIES before my birthday! I never thought you would be this able. Thank to many hours invested in the mass production of these delicious things, a number of players (most of all ShineSoBright, Tubeminer and WhyNotBanano) made this goal together.
Thank you and congratulations to all who participated!! I will enjoy this dinner you prepared for me.
New easter eggs have been added to the new City!!
These easter eggs are typically hidden entrances to hidden rooms with hidden secrets. If you find one of these easter eggs, you are truly awesome. You can decide whether you want to keep it a secret or tell people.
The Easter Eggs are in different places in the Spawn City. They are only in places where things have been built.
Our beloved RtoF is reaching two years of age. It is once again growing, now that both admins have regained energy and time to spend. As you must have noticed, we are carrying out a number of reforms that we believe are needed to keep the server growing. Now, finally, it is time for a major Spawn city reform.
Some of you have been waiting for this for more than a year, others might not immediately welcome this radical change. But I think all of you agree with that our current Spawn city has its problems. It's nice and cozy, and has been an icon for the server for nearly two years - yes. But it is a bit of a mess, it doesn't really look like the kind of capital city you would expect in an economy server - and it's laggy. We've had it for two years and it hasn't changed all that much in that time. Some would say it is getting a little boring. We believe it is time for a complete change. So now, at last, we start the plans I've been working on since the idea first came up in the spring of 2013.
I present to you:
A NEW SPAWN CITY
For the first time in the server's history, we will change the location of the spawn. We are going to build a new city, a big one, together. One that reminds us of the economy aspect of RtoF. One that actually LOOKS like a city, and hopefully a beautiful one.
If you feel lazy today, you can skip the text below and jump directly to the practical information. However, please don't criticize the reform if you haven't read the entire post.
The main idea in the architecture of the new city is that the /spawn and the newbie spawn aren't in the middle of a concentrated, laggy shop area full of entities and other fps decreasing factors. Shops have to exist, of course, and limiting them would not be a good idea. So instead one of the city's three districts will be dedicated to this: player houses and shops. This area has also been designed so that it will look cityish, with straight streets and the city plots arranged in town quarters (see pictures below), and large enough not to concentrate all the shops too tightly together. Naturally, this will still be the laggiest place on the server but at least it doesn't surround the /spawn. New player who join the server won't be welcomed by an immense fps drop, as they did in the old spawn. Instead, the new /spawn will be located on a big and quite empty plaza in the very center of the city - surrounded by the three districts. You will be able to visit the spawn for other purposes than shopping without (we hope) still being drowned in the shop lag. The distance problem (so you don't have to walk for 5 minutes before getting to your city plot from /spawn) will be solved by having a few warps within the city. Only a few though - you will still have to walk and learn the street names etc. in order to navigate successfully. And most of the plots will be predefined, which means you don't have to wait for an admin to come lnline in order to purchase them (it will work a bit like the Grid, with signs that you can click to buy them).
The other thing we hope to achieve with this reform is to have a capital well worthy of the server, at last. The financial district will be full of amazing skyscrapers, built by players and sponsored by the admins. In the future, players will be able to purchase entire skyscrapers to show off their immense wealth - capitalism at its purest. The western district is the Old district, or the Admin district and includes my own project. This area gives the city its "historical" value with its 19th century buildings. This district is only for decoration; for now it serves no practical purpose. In the future, it might contain the Hall of Fame, Parliament hall and similar important places. The spawn plaza itself will be as empty as possible to minimize the spawn lag. This is why it is completely flat and shaped as a compass. Under this platform there will be room for a new help section for new players. Hopefully this new larger, mightier city will give a better impression to players who join for the first time.
PRACTICAL INFORMATION:
The new city is located at City2 (until the spaws is moved, use /warp city2). It obviously looks very empty now, but YOU will shape it once you've started purchasing/migrating plots.
The city has three districts, apart from the spawn plaza in the middle (which might include a help section later on):
This is a scale plan of what the city looks like at the moment. Buildings in districts 2 and 3 have not been painted. 1 pixel=1 block. Please zoom it in a lot if you want to see details. Will be updated.
1. The Player district or Shop district (notice there are two ones in the picture; this district has a channel splitting it). This is where all the player plots and shops will be located. Both predefined plots and custom plots will be for sale here; price depending on location. The cheapest plots will be cheaper than they were in the old spawn city - but the finest plots will be worth thousands. Only the rich can afford to have a shop on the finest areas close to the spawn. This is the only area that will contain a large number of shops and entities and therefore will be the area that affects fps the most. Thanks to this, the rest of the city should be relatively free from fps drops. This will no doubt be the most visited area, anyway.
2. The Financial District. This is what we hadn't had before. An area of mighty skyscrapers, sponsored by the admins but built by players on survival. More about this in the "A second server city" thread. In the future, the extremely rich players might be able to purchase an entire skyscraper to show their might and power. A real symbol of the economy aspect of RtoF.
3. The Old district/Admin district including Berthur's project. This is the only district where nothing is built on survival. It includes Berthur's personal project (19th century buildings), among other things the Palace or Parliament, which is still under construction. Later on, this area might include some important official places like the Parliament hall and the Hall of Fame. It will more or less be the city's tourist attraction.
In the southern area - the largest part of the shop district - predefined plots will be for sale, just like in the Grid. The plots will be sold like medieval style (or English style too, for that part) houses - the typical plot
is narrow but goes deeper into the quarter, leaving a facade of 10 blocks while the plot itself is 10x15 blocks large. They are arranged in town quarters or blocks, with an inner yard in the middle. Trust me - it will look awesome. And for those who don't like being tied to that strict boundaries, in the Eastern part of the Shop district, there will be space for custom shaped plots (sold by Berthur on demand). The price of the plot will depend on the location. All the prices are displayed on a sign on each plot, so you can go take a look for yourself and perhaps decide which plot would be the perfect one for you.
Since the city is a lot larger than the old one, and the Spawn is not in the middle of the shop area to avoid the lag, there will be a few warps within the city. Each quartz fountain is a sub-spawn (there will be only 3 or 4 in the whole city to begin with) with its own warp. These warps are mainly for people who have their house or shop close by so it doesn't take you five minutes to walk from the spawn to your home. Naturally, the plots that are close to a quartz fountain will be more expensive.
The streets will have names and the plots will have addresses - more info about this later. This way, you can actually tell someone at what address your shop is and they will find it without your help.
THE MIGRATION:
Since many of you already own plots in the old city, I imagine you might not be very fond of the idea of moving the Capital. This is why I offer moving your plots to the new city on request. I will not charge any extra money for this work as long as you are cooperative and you do it soon. After a certain deadline (at least a week from now), I will charge money for this. You still have to pay the difference if you move your plot to a more expensive plot in the new city. You can also have your old shop removed and get the same value of new plots in the city, if you want to start afresh. Some of you might prefer staying in the old spawn city, and I respect that. The old city will of course not be removed, it will remain as one of the server's most important cultural locations, at the very center of the world and with its own warp. New plots will not be sold in the old city for now, though. Inactive players will stay where they are until their plots are removed in the future. So don't fear - our beloved Melon Spawn will not be forgotten!!
If you wish to move your city plot, please contact Berthur.
NEW CITY PLOTS WILL NOT BE FOR SALE UNTIL I SAY SO IN THIS THREAD. But feel free to visit /warp city2 and take a look at the plots and their prices, in the southern area.
There are great plans for the new City project... Stay tuned! Lots of info to come soon. For now, make sure you visit it at /warp city2 and follow the development of the project! If you are interested in contributing with a skyscraper, read about it here.
Numerous projects and events are being planned. Stay tuned for news about the City2 project and... the server's second birthday, which is approaching! The 26th of May, I promise you a Birthday event, like last year. More info soon.

Here a screenshot of what it looks like so far (excluding the skyscrapers). At night:
Make sure you buy yourself a plot here to be a part of the city's development!

Right click on the sell sign on the plot and it's yours, if you can afford it.
