Use shading underneath the grass! This is what OneWingedPie meant, btw:
(it's from my pack when he made the same comment)
So, not shading ON the grass, but under it, where it should create a shadow on the dirt to create the illusion of depth.
Thanks for that example! I understand now. I fixed it up now, and it should be better.
Here's a two pictures of the edited side-grass and stone/cobble/mossy cobble:
EDIT: Woops, made a mistake. Reuploading pictures now.
I really like what you have done so far!
I love the dark grass and drit!
Thanks! I might retry dark grass sometime in the future when other textures are finished. But currently I think I'm going to stick with the lighter version.
Also, I edited the original post and added in an initial stone texture.
hmm... I dont have an example, and I cant really whip one up right now... sorry but under the sidegrass change the pencil opacity to 30 or lower then draw underneath sidegrass
It looks nice, I like the lighter grass better because the dark grass is a bit "harsh", and the lighter grass has less tiling problems. Also, is the stone in the "grass" spoilers, is that the stone you put in the previous posts? Because it looks very nice from afar. The stone looks ok in the posts, adding some more depth and variation in the colors would be nice.
Thanks for your opinions. Er if you mean the first image on my original post, then yeah my new cobble stone texture is based from that. I've modified it since post #6, I'll be posting up some more pictures later.
I need opinions/suggestions/criticism on my first texture pack that I started working on.

I like the idea, but certainly needs more work. As mentioned above, no point in posting a basic outline. At least put some more effort before showing everyone your progress, else you're not showing much at all.
I hope you update this again, I'm interested in seeing how it will turn out.

Thank you! It's a bit frustrating in all honesty, but certainly very fun.
I'm having a bit of trouble with the side-grass shading right now. Going to have to fix it tomorrow, and I'll update this in the morning.

Column #7, Row #3 (from the left), just colour it like you did with your grass texture (the first texture in the terrain.png).

For the most part - I believe it's a full version with a time limit. I could be mistaken though..

I unstriked it for you. Basically GIMP and Paint.net are free programs, and Photoshop requires you to purchase it (or use a demo,or other means....)

A paid image editing software that I personally use is Photoshop.
EDIT: ninja'd by peyton :c

I misunderstood your question, it is indeed the default stone.
It's an improvement over the first cobble stone, it doesn't look like the stones are bone-shaped (for the most part).

I'll see what I can do.

I'm not sure if I follow, could you give me an example?

Hmm, okay. So I think I'll stick with light for now. Thanks!
Okay, so I've added in side-grass shading and adjusted my old dirt texture into cobblestone. Here's the result:

Thanks, and which do you prefer the dark version or light version of grass? I had the same thing in mind too, I'll try it for cobblestone.
