Skype - I have a skype, but I'd prefer not to post it on a public forum. I can give it to you via a PM or whatever you prefer.
Country - 'Murica!
Tell a bit about yourself-I enjoy building larger builds, and I've started recently to explore map making using Worldpainter.I enjoy the technical side of minecraft, and I can also build pretty well. I can take jokes well, and I can laugh at myself.
How long have you been playing minecraft? - I have been playing since November 2011, or Beta 1.8
Have you ever been banned? If so, justify it - No, I have not been banned from any servers
Have you played on any other servers and why did you stop? - Yes, I have played on many different survival vanilla servers, but I stopped playing on them because they were shut down.
Why would you like to join the server? - I would like to join because I am not currently playing on any other servers, and this server looks like it may turn out well. The application looks like it is good enough to deter most, if not all griefers, so I can be reasonably sure that my buildings won't be destroyed willy nilly. Also, UHC is on on this server, which will make PvE a lot harder, as it is pretty easy, even on hard mode when you don't have NatRegen off.
What is your forte in minecraft? - PvE and building, and I do pretty well with redstone.
How often will you be online? - As often as I can, but I will be pretty busy with schoolwork and my map making experimentation.
(It'd probably be a good idea to add more to the applications, to filter out any would be griefers or immature players, just a few questions to get an idea on why they want to be on the server and how they play minecraft. Just an idea)
1. IGN: Benny_McRyan
2. Age: 16
3. Why do you want to play on our server? I've been trying to find a pure vanilla server for a while, and all the ones that I have found have shut down, or aren't really vanilla.
4. What can you contribute to our server? I enjoy building and creating redstone contraptions, including mob farms, and I like to think that I'm not that bad at either.
5. What are your strengths and weaknesses in Minecraft? (Everyone has a weakness, do not be afraid to show them) I am pretty good at PvE, but I am terrible at PvP.
6. What is your opinion on the saying, "Honesty above all."?: It is a good ideal to strive for, but one that is often hard to reach. Green
7. Do you like the fact that we have no opped players unless of a grief or theft?: I really don't care either way if there are opped players, but it does take away the temptation to cheat.
8. What prompted you to try out this server? As in what made you first get interested in plain old Vanilla?: I've just never really gotten into mods, and I like survival servers as there are people to share my creations with.
9. Do you agree to all the rules that we have stated above, and do you think we should add any more?: Yes, and no.
10. What is your opinion on this server? Be honest.: No opinion as of yet, I haven't been on to be able to form one!
11. Way for us to contact you: Skype, but I'd prefer not to post it on a public forum.
I just spent a few hours of my time making a 1.6 compatible version of this texture pack. It is a mix of Vattic's and Affinite's textures, and all of the textures should work, however, the horse armor item and some of the horses are not HD. As well, I created a second version that has much calmer weather and minecart sounds. The instructions are included in the zip file, and I will put them in this post farther down.
I also included a 1.5.2 compatible version, which includes many of Vattic's textures.
To use this resource pack, you NEED to be running the 13w24a snapshot or later. I will not be explaining how to find or install these snapshots, as there are plenty of Youtube videos explaining this already.
Installation instructions:
1. Unzip the ZIP file containing the pack.
2. Copy the folder titled "[64x][1.6.x] Affinite's Faithful" or "[64x][1.6.x] Affinite's Faithful + Better Rain" that was contained in the ZIP file.
3. Find your resourcepacks folder, in the .minecraft folder. There are two ways to do this:
Method 1:
1. Open the latest snapshot of Minecraft. After logging in and reaching the main menu, click the "Options" button.
2. In the Options menu, there will be a button titled "Resource Packs."
3. Click it, and you will see a list of resource packs you have installed.
4. To the bottom left side of the screen, you should see a button titled "Open Resource Pack folder".
5. When you click that, it will take you to the folder containing your resource packs.
Method 2: (For Windows)
1. Go to your start menu, and in the search bar, type %APPDATA%.
2. A folder titled "Roaming" should appear. Open it.
3. One of the first results should be a folder called ".minecraft" Open it, again.
4. After opening your .minecraft folder, look for a folder titled "resourcepacks". Open it.
4. After having opened your resourcepacks folder, paste the resourcepack into it.
5. Finally, open minecraft, navigate to the resource packs menu item (See method 1 above), and select the resource pack you wish to use.
Note: There appears to be a bug that messes up the text when you close Minecraft with the Resource pack applied. On reopening minecraft, the text is unreadable. To fix this, switch back to the default resource pack, restart minecraft, and reselect the HD resource pack.
Finally, a disclaimer: All of the 64x64 textures included in this pack belong to Affinite, and are his intellectual property. All of the 32x32 textures belong to Vattic, and are his intellectual property. The modified sounds in this pack were downloaded from free sound fx websites found on the internet, and were edited by me, Benny_McRyan, into the Better Rain version of the resource pack.
Country/ Timezone: Mountain Standard (In Arizona, so no Daylight savings)
Skype name: I can provide this in game, not really into posting contact info on public forums
Youtube channel (optional): Vanulous
Why should we choose you?: I enjoy playing vanilla minecraft and have been looking everywhere for a reliable vanilla server in the Mindcrack/Hermitcraft model
How often do you play?: It depends on schoolwork, but I usually can play every day.
What is your favourite thing about minecraft?: Redstone and building, with a bit of adventure thrown in
Some Minecraft builds you want to share with us?: This was on the last SMP vanilla server I played on, which as far as I know has folded. I built the building in the foreground: http://imgur.com/PI1p1TI
What is the name of mrheyhey124's cat?: Akira
Anything else you want to add: I have some experience with redstone, and with the update I will be making a lot of builds.
Affinite, you may want to update the Changelog in the OP, I didn't know anything had been changed since the 24th of December until a couple of days ago, and I can imagine that most people interested in your pack don't read every post on the thread.
Jeb works at mojang. Notch stepped down as lead developer for minecraft, and took up the position as head of mojang. Jeb replaced Notch as lead developer of minecraft in mojang. Notch did not sell the game to him.
Benny, stop trying to use my own words against me and twist the truth. Nobody is falling for it and moderator is an admin rank. You are likely corrupt, and I recommend that you stop posting here just to see who has bigger balls.
and thats the problem. The survival servers barely have any plugins, and usually as I said the staff are corrupt. They just want the players to be their own brain washed slaves. The griefers get banned all the time, but their griefing is permanent on the players' minds and it ruins trust between the players and the staff.
and I'm not assuming I am correct. I have yet to see a server that doesn't have a corrupt staff.
and they can't greet players the same way, as it makes the player feel uncared for, making the staff and playerbase look like robots controlled by stupidity
I'm not here to be insulted and I'm not posting to show that I have "bigger balls". Yes, moderator is a staff rank, but Admins and Moderators are different. I won't argue the small differences between them, though. I'll just say that Admin is a higher rank then Moderator.
If I'm using your own words against you, it is because they are your opinion and not the truth for every single case. They may be the truth for each case you have seen, but I know cases where they are not the truth.
I will not presume to make judgements on my own character, but you do not have the right to automatically say that I am corrupt, only because I am in a position of power. For you to have had these experiences and have these bias shows me that you are not playing on the right servers.
On large public servers with many hundreds of players joining every couple of minutes, Admins and their Moderators simply do not have the time to greet each and every player in a unique manner. On smaller servers, we have that ability, so the experience is much more enjoyable for everyone.
SMP is run completely by players, not mojang. Also, I am part of the playerbase, as I play on servers that I do not have any power on.
By the way: Tell me how players can be brainwashed slaves to the admins? Without happy players, a server is absolutely nothing, and brainwashed slaves don't seem like the happy player type.
Nether portals connect very easily, as each block in the nether is equal to 8 blocks in the overworld. When you are teleporting from the overworld in a nether portal, the portal will search a 256 by 256 area in the nether for an existing portal, which would translate into the possibility for you to need to travel 960 blocks above ground before you can build a portal that will teleport you to a new location.
Dr, you are correct that I am a moderator (not admin, I don't set any of the properties of the server, but I do greet new comers and accept or deny their applications) on a server, but I have played on many other servers. I would repeat my advice to not play on PvP servers if you do not like the fighting, but you aren't going to pay attention to that. Also, just because I am offering the other side of the story does not mean that my thoughts and arguments are invalid in this thread.
If you want individual toggles for pvp, there is most likely a server mod for that, but truly it would not be good for a server, as it would be easily abused.
I wouldn't say that Mojang have big heads, the company still only employs about 10 people (I believe), and they listen and respond to tweets from their consumers.
I have been able to find .jar files on the internet and download them, specifically 1.7.3, but that was a little while ago, so I don't know if its been taken down. I agree with you, as the out of date jar files are not what people are paying to download, the newest one is. I don't work for Mojang though, so i can't answer you question satisfactorily.
So... a griefer is a person who is punishing an admin or server for the admin's actions? Their destruction of someone else's work, which the admin probably didn't build, is completely justifiable? Also, how do you define negative comments? Any comment opposed to your stance?
How would you get on a white listed server in the first place if the admins don't care about you. Why would they spend their time and sometimes money to host a server for people they don't care about? There are servers which are whitelisted but are not completely private, and the players on the server have no connections in real life.
You are making very generalized opinions about griefers and smp.
As well, there IS a toggle for pvp in the server options. Anarchy and PvP servers are meant to be the way you described them, which is why they are called such. If you don't want to fight other players, then don't join pvp servers. If you don't want to play on a server where most of the players are "stupid", then you need to sign up for a whitelisted or permissions based server that has limited how many players can sign up, and screens them against griefers.
If you don't want the challenge of losing your stuff in survival, then you can either play on creative or be sure to keep your valuables safe. Honestly, would you have much fun on survival without risk? You may at first, but then it would get extremely boring.
I hope you succeed in your attempts to create your perfect server, but I think you could find many servers that you would find acceptable to play on if you look around in the servers section of the forums.
