Thanks for the input on the checkerboard, I'll take greater pains to make my next shelter more defensible. This one for now though, is just a secure place to do some mining until I gather enough resources to move on to a more permanent location.

Whenever I start a new Survival world, I never build my house DIRECTLY underground. I always build my house inside the sides of hills/mountains, simply because it's more cozy to me to be inside the terrain rather than under it.

posted a message on Your favorite song to listen to while playing Survival
I used to enjoy the in-game music itself, but after months of playing Minecraft, it got boring to me in no time flat. If I feel like listening to music while playing, chances are I'll just open up some playlist full of epic tracks on YouTube and let it roll.

A lot of Minecraft YouTubers use Kevin Macleod's Royalty-Free music tracks in their videos because it's good and free to download. His music is good for casual Minecraft play as well. You can search his music tracks here, Clicky:

What the heck is a zombie golem? Is it like a normal golem or what?

Giant Zombies that can't be spawned in vanilla Minecraft but can be edited into the game with a level editor. And I have no idea why someone just called them Zombie Golems.

No mods. It seems like the deeper I go into the game-made mines, the more monsters.

That's just because there are a greater amount of dark areas in the lower regions of the terrain. Simple.

If your island is a jungle biome, then it is located at the following location:

    Seed: Artomix
    Coordinates Of Island: x = -255, z = -17

Kindly leave a reply if you found it.

Relax, you'll get used to cave mining. What happened to you happened all the time when I was a newb to Minecraft, but now I have an exemplary mining record if I do say so myself. Always bring a bucket of water and at the very least iron armor when you go into caves. You're pretty much on the highway to doom otherwise.

I agree with these points as well. Most of these are the kind of things the mapmaker can only see in hindsight after seeing people struggle with it. I have been making a list of things I want to change about VFII ever since I released it basically but, after the OOGE play through and being berated by those guys (Etho excluded) I wasn't going to change shizz. Now that time has passed I feel I can update the map to the way it should play now without feeling like I'm changing things for a crybaby who called me a liar then threatened to kill me because a rom-hack hard map was too hard for him.

I'm going to be updating the first two VF maps to work with all the new features and mechanics of modern minecraft as well as adjust the style of play to the way I feel a CTM map should play. (trust me, I dev commed the first map, LPed Nightmare Realm and just finished LPing twisted logic Moon II and I know dropping 50+ hours into a map playthrough is not ideal for anyone, especially video makers.)

Haha, I can't help but sheepishly agree about OOGE. They have skill and they're talented Minecrafters and whatnot, but their lack of sensibility in your maps is downright hilarious. Sorry about criticizing the difficulty of FIL, keep it that way. It's legitimate RomHack content.

Also, with the advent of the 12th disc 'wait', is that going to be something you'll implement into the JBM of VF3? And do you have any plans for the series beyond VF3, like more FML mini-maps?

Anyway, here's some screenshots regarding my progress in VF1:

Bridging away to the JBM/ FFUUUUU Big Tree:
    (Record: cat)

Trying to attempt the Gravitationally-Challenged Graveyard from the top and regretting it:
    (Record: far)

Running out of food, bridging to the melons in Sh*tty Christmas:
    (Record: strad)

Proximity detectors @ Land Of The Snow Golem.

Land Of The Snow Golem's lapis blocks & birdcage! Not really in jeopardy though. Almost died from a creeper blowing up the snow beneath me while approaching the birdcage. The result of that was a gaping void hole.
    (Record: mellohi)

    The JBM thus far
    (Records: 4/11, Ore Blocks: 1/6)

I'm aware some of these screenshots look rather mobless, but believe me, I'm playing on Normal. Took these shots during a creative flyaround (Didn't misuse creative mode, I promise).

I've also yet to find iron ore/ ingots so far, so I've been balancing around stone tools. Sadly, even stone has to be scavenged for in the Gravitationally-Challenged Graveyard.

Enjoying this series more than all of Vechs' maps combined. Looking forward to VF3!

I've never had any sort of proper Minecraft dream before, however I have seen blurry images of creepers in the hypnagogic state (the state where you are very tired and barely awake).

Going to try Wrath Of The Fallen after this, I just completed Herobrine's Mansion. At first I was trying to dispatch of the Wither with my Nysa's Beauty (bow), but it dealt so little damage that I eventually got fed up and melee-killed the Wither with Herobrine's Axe.

They're planned for the 1.5 redstone update, which, according to Jeb, will hopefully be out sometime in January. In the 1.5 update, redstone wire will have a charge strength associated with it, and capacitor blocks will only output if the input is of a certain strength (or something like that).

Cool. Looks like the technological advancement of Minecraft gameplay is speeding up.

There's going to be the capacitor block in 1.5 and possibly even a variant of the allocator block.

I still wouldn't play, though, since I couldn't stand figuring out the crafting recipes for new blocks and items on my own, and like somebody already mentioned, if you don't know what's in the new update, you're not really playing the new update....

Capacitor blocks? What are those? 12w49a and 12w50 only encompass fireworks, enchanted books and the new 'Thorns' enchantment.
