No, TC 4 worlds will not be upgradeable to TC 5.
Besides, in 1.7.10 there is basically nothing you are missing but the cheaper enchanting in 1.8 and the bunnies.
TC 5 is gonna change some very fundamental things, so you'd want to start a new game anyway.
It will not be upgradeable as the two will be incredibly different in how the Aura systems work, as well as many blocks being removed or replaced. Best bet is to have MultiMC or separate profiles on the main Minecraft Launcher so you can play 1.7.10 and 1.8. I have been doing that for ages.

I continued to watch it with some free time (I stopped when you got to the 1.7.2 version bugs this time though. 1.7.2 is pretty much an unsupported version by now. If the bugs don't work on the latest version then they're pretty much resolved.)
Being unable to remove the thaumcraft effects with milk is intended. Being able to remove these so easily would defeat the purpose of warp and these mechanics.
Weather and mob spawns are biome dependent not dimension dependent. There are 3 types of weather (none, rain and snow). The hell biome (the nether) and the sky biome (The End) are set to no weather. When you change the biome you're also changing the weather. That's why it rains in The End and nether. Intended or not, that's just how minecraft works and cannot be changed without changing vanilla code (and doing such a thing usually breaks compatibility with a large amount of mods).
Like TPB and I have already said before, it might be a good idea to visit Azanor's github for thaumcraft. Bug reports there are much easier to keep track of and remember rather then needing to watch a lengthy video.
