What do you think of the server?: For what the server does (that is skyblock, skygrid, and all that other stuff), it is exceptional. They're all very balanced, with and without donor benefits. The only complaint I have is the lag spurts, but it's all very manageable.

You guys didn't notice that mineshafts don't generate on flatland, which are usually all over the place in a regular map. Mineshafts are also considered structures, so logic would dictate that strongholds also wouldn't generate, since mineshafts don't.

You can make a brewing stand but you can't make any potions in superflat. Why? There's no sand anywhere in the universe. You can't make glass or bottles.

You can theoretically harvest glass panes with a silk touch tool, but those can't be used in crafting.

Ah, yeah you're right, hadn't thought of that. Damn sand.

The majority of these 'tasks' are simply grindy, and unrewarding, specifically the type that is 'kill x type of x with x' (which isn't so grindy if you are already doing so without prompting, but I doubt anyone will be keeping count). Not to mention, it is missing some good tasks that have already been thought up (for example, crafting brewing stands, making giant mushrooms with shrooms gathered from the nether, and more).
But, I will admit, some of these are good, but only about half, which the others could be compressed to simply 1 task (ie: craft a complete set of swords: wooden, stone, iron, gold and diamond)

It's very difficult to do so, but it is very possible to make a nether portal with the materials you gain from super flat mode.

(Blacksmiths chests can contain iron ingots and diamonds, and you can get flint from the gravel roads, so you can arrange portals by either mining obsidian made from the blacksmith lava pools with a diamond pick, or pick up the lava in a bucket and cool it in a portal arrangement, then light it with a flint 'n' steel.)

So.. any of you made a nether portal yet? - or better yet, made any potions yet?

I've been playing minecraft a lot in the past few months, as such, I've been having more minecraft themed dreams. Here's one that I had in mid September. (I had another one last night, which is MUCH longer) This one was long enough to be recorded, but a lot of it was more scenic naturally generated type of layout, so it isn't easy to describe it.

I was inside Minecraft in a large mountain range. I was basically in creative mode, where you can destroy blocks instantly and effectively have infinite blocks, but you couldn't fly. I was playing with lots of other people, and we were all trying to find each other trying to kill each other to be the last man standing to win the game. Multiple times I went through the mountainous world going up placed ladders, going into a large cave inside a mountain, trying to avoid being seen and get the jump on someone. I hardly ever made contact with anyone, though I did see people multiple times. It seemed that I was doing terribly, except whenever I saw this one person, where I would just own him and it would usually bring my score much higher to compensate for any of my bad score. At one point I was also able to turn myself into a creeper and make myself explode on someone, if I could get close enough, which I did explode, but I never killed the person with it. Near the end I had gone up a ladder into the very large cave - almost archway into the mountain, and was in a ride inside the mountain. There was someone there, traveling to a bridge that went the length of the cave and to the other side of the ridge. The person hadn’t seen me, so I kept behind him until I get close enough to hit him, which I did swiftly, which he turned around to attack me before he died, but ultimately failed to even hit me. It went on for a long time of multiple games trying to beat the other players in the same map.

Yes, tall grass now is an item u cant place by yourself. Pretty nice at decorating interior and exterior of your houses :3

Actually you can. You can't place the block itself without sheers, but you can make tall grass grow with bonemeal (which also sometimes grows flowers).

Lulz, with bonermeal growing huge = 1 mushroom = ~10 mushrooms.

    Doesnt matter to me

Well yes, I see the reasoning behind the change, but I wish it was simply reducing the spread rate a lot rather than breaking my farm without a word.

Thanks a bunch for the find! I've been trying to find reasons as to why my mushroom farm wasn't working, and testing this out, it seems to be absolutely correct. I removed a ton of the seed mushrooms in my farm, and now it spreads again, but at a terrible rate since there are so few mushrooms able to grow.

I've been trying to find this out also, and I've been doing a lot of testing.. I've been trying to find out why my mushroom farm wasn't growing, so I was testing if they needed more space, problems with the setup, etc., which I did manage to get some to grow, but extremely rarely. Searching around the forums, I found this thread, which explains what is going on.
"Existing mushrooms won't spread further if there are five or more surrounding mushrooms in a 9x9x3 area around that mushroom."
After I reduced the number of seed mushrooms in my farm, they did start to grow again at the same rate it used to. It makes my farm incredibly inefficient, but it was salvageable. So they do still spread.

I keep a dream log because sometimes I have really ****ed up dreams, and I like to record them, because often times I wouldn't remember them. Also, I haven't played minecraft in at least a week, and I've been playing very little even in the month, so it's puzzling as to why I would have a minecraft dream... but I digress. Reading my old dreams jogs my memory of how the dreams went in my head, and sometimes there are fantastic things thought up in dreams that spurs my imagination, so I can use my dreams as a creative tool.

There's also some Terraria thrown in that dream too.. As per the colored block walls and link's tunic, I'm 100% sure thats where that came from.

Hello everyone. I regularly keep a dream log and last night I had an especially odd dream of minecraft. I'd like to share it with you.

The dream started out as me being in Minecraft after the new 1.8 update, labeled as the Adventure update. I was out in the wilderness standing on a hill overlooking a camp. I knew that I spent a while progressing through the game and found myself in a dungeon made of odd colored bricks. There were portals everywhere that monsters were pouring in from. They were mostly zombies. I was in a corridor and went into a large room with two portals on each side and a deep hole in the middle. I got hit from above and looked up to see monsters coming down from the roof. There was an overhang ending over the hole and I went to the other side of the hole to see what was there. There was a sideways portal that monsters were shifting gravity coming out of. I went past the room into another corridor, killing and mobs in my way. I came across an odd looking painting that looked like epic fan art for Minecraft. I touched the painting and pieces of it came off and flew past me as I went into the painting.

Everything looked like it was patched together with pieces of paper and everything was suddenly amazingly realistic graphics and I was extremely impressed that they managed to make this in Minecraft, sort of like proof that they could make a really impressive graphics game if they wanted to. The place was mostly green and some small hills with flowers on them. There were other people there with guns shooting some undead creatures there, and I was using a sword. Past the edge of the area where there was a fence, a group of skeletons and a hooded lich came through a gap. I was attacking them as they split up to attack different people. After we killed them we retreated back to the painting. I went through and saw the world reform from the bits of paper back into Minecraft. No one went through the painting with me. I went back in and hit some lever from a distance that I hadn’t seen before in the middle of the area. The entire world started coming up in square chunks and disappearing into the sky all around me, leaving a floating area that me and the other people were standing on surrounded by a white void.

One of the people resembled a giant fish wearing an armored suit reminiscent of Link’s tunic, complete with a giant hat to fit on his head. He started crying and broke down where he was standing. I didn’t know what to think, if he was crying out of beauty or what. He looked at the person in front of him and took up his gun while sobbing and shot him. The person fell back, which he was in a relatively normal looking white suit, as if from halo and sat there holding his side. The fish-man sat there in the fetal position. There was a car behind me and it had become apparent that everything had become extremely cold. There was a woman inside the car, and I knew that she was dying for some reason. I opened the door and looked at her. I was reluctant to, but I was going to put her out of her misery and jabbed something in her chest. I looked at the others outside of the car for a bit. Everything started to get so cold that the people stopped moving and they started to ice over with some sort of blue metallic surface. I looked at the man that was shot. He started to cloak, and he lifted his visor to show that he had blue skin, as that cloaked too. I knew then that he was some sort of alien race when he had lead on to be human, which was some sort of relevance to a previous narrative that I didn't know of. I assumed he was dying as well. I knew that I could save him, but I had to act quickly. I pushed the dead woman to the other side of the car. I went and grabbed the cloaked man and put him in the car and I got in to drive. I tried to back the car out of the painting, but the dream ended there.

Thinking back on it, the group seemed hugely like Mass Effect, which is odd because I have never played the game once, but then again I also haven't played minecraft much lately either.

I've had other minecraft dreams, but none that had such a turn or so long, and in retrospect, not any minecraft based dreams that were so.. disturbing. Post your own dreams if you like. I may be inclined to share some of my older minecraft dreams.

But yeah, I was really surprised to find that someone had actually made the mod when I saw it featured on the yogscast. Especially after it had been so long ago that I had suggested it. I'm surprised that this thread got bumped tho, as it is so ancient.
