Your upcoming update sounds awesome. Looking forward to it. I just started looking today for an updated skyblock and was happy to see yours, I really enjoyed your last one. I could see the build-your-own-cauldron-and-fill-it idea appealing to some people (like me) but it could take awhile to acquire that much iron early in the game which may make it too tedious for some. Including the cauldron (in the nether?) would relieve the tedium and it would be a nice change from the ice block. You might also want to add a clue in the book regarding its use.

One suggestion: While the multiple biomes are great the square shapes are boring. Maybe make them a little more naturally shaped with some plains and/or river biomes weaving through. Make edge type biomes like cold beach, edges, rather than a large area. Put the mushroom island biome surrounded or partially surrounded by the ocean. Things like that. It would give people a chance to make their island(s) more naturalistic. This may all be moot with your new world generation type. If so, just ignore this.

I had the falling problem in the nether and I didnt test it but

Regarding the falling out of the nether portal, looks like the recent release of 1.8.4 has fixed this.

It seems I just had to wait a bit longer, eventually my two villagers got in sync and bred. I'm up to 7 villagers now and growing.

The wiki mentioned the farmers dropping extra food, but apparently other types will too. My clerics throw food at the kid villager and at each other from time to time.

Note that in 1.8, blacksmith villagers only accept coal for trade, not charcoal. Good thing coal is available.

I am playing the 1.7 map on 1.8.1. Seeing how it goes. I have two priest villagers (cured from zombie villagers). I have got them both to have love hearts. I traded with them and gave them bread. However so far I haven't got them both to have hearts at the same time! It seems there is a random element to it. Curing more villagers will presumably increase my chances. I'm going to keep trying with the two for a bit longer however.

I had the issue of spawning on the wrong side of the portal also. After multiple falls, trying entering different ways and such, I tried placing a block against the base of the portal as I was falling, with the idea of landing on it next time. It worked in fashion. The block ended up against the portal itself, blocking the spot I previously spawned in at and so I ended up spawned on the other side of the portal.

I noticed the "not pretty" biome edges too. There is a little corner missing in the jungle, as well as the sections missing from mushroom and taiga. I used BiomePainter and fixed mine.

Regarding ghast spawning, I was working on another minimalist map, and I built a box (9x9x9) a little bit bigger than enough for them to spawn in, with 2 high pillars in the center for them to spawn on, any pigman spawns tend to drop down to the floor. I didn't bother to automate anything. The spawn rate isn't fast, but I did get a few. I made it a little longer (9x13x9) to provide a couple more spawn spots to see if that would help and I've been thinking of building more boxes - far enough apart to be able spawn while I'm clearing out the others. I have a 2 high door at the base of the cube, blocked with a trapdoor. I can kill the ghasts and all the piggies and the occasional magma cube that way with impunity. Sword or bow with max looting enchantment helps a lot.

I gave it a try. I liked it, though finding enough diamonds took a long time. The map is interesting. Your circuit needs some work. I had to open the walls and fix it to get to the conclusion. Glass and some other blocks don't transmit a redstone signal.

I actually exploited the animal glitch yesterday. I wanted to move some but not all the animals from where I had stashed them far far away back to my main base. I made a baby animal (because they glitch the easiest) held a food item and backed up a bit and they very nicely glitched through the fence and I then led them to their new home. Other animals pushing helps. Sometimes it didn't quite work because more than one animal would glitch through, but I was able to separate them out further by using more fences.

I also had an animal die to the glitch I think. I found some raw beef in the middle of my pen. I think the cow glitched into the ground and suffocated. Nothing else I can think of that killed it. I have seen animals in blocks in the ground, though they usually pop back up before suffocating.

I got a complete collection of music discs yesterday by a minor modification to my mob trap. I'm now working on getting enchanted gear for the trip to the End. Needed more leather for books for a few more bookcases (don't currently have a villager selling them and I'd rather spend emeralds on things that I can't get any other way) thus the reason for moving the cows - hanging around at the far far away farm waiting for cows to grow up got boring.

Finally bothered to update to 1.5.2 today. So maybe that will help with the animal glitch, though I didn't see that mentioned in the list of bug fixes.

    Goddammit!!!

I was about to go and capture my second villager when suddenly I walked into the first one and POP
He jsut fall throuh the world -___

Is there any way that I can spawn one that was the same as him If I go in creative mode?

Ugh this bug is so annoying. Fortunately I didn't have that happen before I got my village going. I did have one baby villager glitch through the floor, though I had a slime farm underneath, so it was just stuck there until I decided to put it out of its misery when it didn't have a useful trade. Animals keep escaping their pens, especially chickens. And back to villagers, I tried trapping some with good trades but they kept getting out, only one or two stayed put, so I've given up for now and just wander through the village looking for the trades I want. Maybe I should try solid blocks instead of fences. Solid blocks behind fences seems to help with the animals, though sometimes they will still manage to glitch on top of the fences and then walk out.

Ah, not familiar with map editing at all. I didn't know that you couldn't place witch huts or nether fortresses. I assumed that the blaze spawning was simply linked to the nether brick, not to a nether fortress identity as well. Well that makes me more impressed with your map.

I was making my traps on the Soul Sand level, but that'd be level 40(ish). The fortress is on level 60(ish). What a maroon I am.

I was wondering about that in your let's play. I was wondering how you were going to make your way up to the next level then you started making your trap. I thought you were after the zombie pigmen.

Humorous event: Ghast fireball hit a pigman when it was shooting at me. Pigman spent the next few minutes running around chasing the ghast. It was hilarious watching it from my shelter. Then it got lucky and the ghast got low enough and pigman killed it. I cheered.

    Here's some screenshots.

My first base with zombie trap on the left. Spider proof fencing. You can see the results of some creeper explosions here and there.

    Zombies incoming!

The New Base with Village and Farm.

Cobblestone generator version 2 or 3

The Nether Fortress, nothing efficient about it, but its a nice safe spot. I like to kill everything with a bow. The slabs are to discourage ghast spawns, while keeping it dark enough for blazes and wither skeletons. Torches near the outside walls to encourage spawning toward the center as the outside walls are out of bow range. With the ghast spawn more controlled I run around outside the fortress a lot more now. Oh, there was one weird nether brick block, that was above the level of all the rest, I don't think it was intended? I couldn't see any reason for it to be out of place. I kept thinking it was a magma cube until I took it out.

    And my treetop mooshrooms.

Now I'm working on a very complicated (for me) semi automatic chicken farm. Why? when getting a substantial amount of redstone is a fairly slow process? I don't know. Now if there was a witch hut in the swamp... Nah, that might make the map too easy. Though it could make life more exciting in the early part of the map.

I fixed the ocelot spawn now. They needed more grass. I was just using the tops of jungle trees, since the wiki says they can spawn on grass or leaves. I did have one block of grass up there, not sure why I went with just one, or even why I choose to put it there in the first place, so that accounts for my rare sightings. Put a small 4x4 grass square up and they are spawning much more frequently.

Oh slimes near the original lava square? I found a slime chunk farther out, but its under my house so the noise gets really annoying. I was already looking in the direction of the original lava square for a replacement chunk, good to know I was looking in the right direction.

Ok, figured out the issue with the mooshrooms. They apparently have a height requirement like ocelots. Put grass above level 65 and boom mooshooms. None at default ground level. Which kinda makes sense since mooshrooms naturally spawn on an island above sea level at 65. I would have guessed that they could spawn on mycelium as well but no. I was trying grass as well anyways. Now to figure out why the ocelot spawning is having issues. Trimmed my herds, but that doesn't seem to be helping.
