Hooray for barrels not being only about fish! (Dodged a projectile there.) On the other hand, it'll take some getting used to not being 64 stacks of just one type of thing, but instead like a regular 27-slot chest (except for no double functionality and can still use it if you put blocks on top of it).
Said barrel's recipe being very similar to the original recipe from back in the Factorization mod days, except 2 slabs instead of 1, and planks instead of logs. In fact, now that it's easier to just make barrels, what's the point of chests?

Use of TTF fonts in resource packs is a good idea. Unfortunately, it is very badly executed.
1. You have to put the TTF file in assets/minecraft/font, instead of just use an already installed one. The TTFR mod does this properly and makes it easier to switch fonts.
2. There is no way to change the font size separately from the ingame menu sizing. TTFR does this.
3. The lowercase letters have different heights and are all over the line. It looks like a ransom note. TTFR does this correctly.
4. Changing the GUI scale pixelates the text.
5. The font must be renamed to "seven.ttf" which does not identify the font.

OK, the cause of the game freezing was the Biome Blend setting. I set it to 0 and the maps loaded. But bang goes the cool colors! And now without it, there is now even less impetus to play it. Back to 1.12.2 and fun gaming.

What I know about 1.13-pre1:
•It freezes on loading any previous 1.13 snapshot world, or on creating a new world with similar parameters.•If 1.13 is going to get rid of Custom worldtype, there will always be the Cubic Chunks mod to add a much better CustomCubic worldtype which does a much better job anyway. And if 1.13 makes that worldtype impossible, then my server will just have to remain on 1.12.2.

Aug 10, 2016BaccarWozat posted a message on Community Roundtable: "Games Are Bad For Kids!"Posted in: News
At the beginning of the existence of video games, Nolan Bushnell had difficulty financing his company Atari; the banks said video games were a stupid idea and that people would steal the TVs from the cabinets. Banks were also of the opinion that the arcade market was controlled by organized crime, which was actually true about jukeboxes and cigarette vending machines. Though video games shook that perceived connection, pinball games remained stuck with it until the late 1970s.
I remember the first video game that caused major controversy: Death Race. This 1970s arcade game was reprimanded for the level of violence inherent in running tiny pixelated cars over what the company (Exidy) called "gremlins" officially, but anyone who saw the film Death Race 2000 knew it was meant to be the elderly! All that controversy did was cause people to notice the game, causing sales to go up and a sequel to be made.
Next there was a constant phrase that was all the buzz: "Video games are a rip off." This came to a sudden end in 1980 when Cinematronics released Rip Off, a vector game which wasn't violent or didn't promote stealing or anything. Games were only rip offs to those people who didn't think the experience was worth a quarter.
After that, the concern trolling focused on games in general being "too violent", and the complainers were increasingly Bible belters who kept trying to find ways to label video games as sinful. Many small towns actually banned video game arcades or imposed age restrictions. (On vacation in 1981, I remember going through a town with an arcade I couldn't enter because I was under 18.)
There was a small amount of concern about free games being given out as equated with a form of gambling. (A free game doesn't usually translate into winning money, but sometimes an arcade operator would give the player his quarter back.) This was what took down pinball games in some places in the 1940s. The only video game I know of that gave out free games was Universal's Mr. Do! (1982) and that had the option to turn that off in places that regulated free game prizes.

I don't think the Realms business model can succeed until they make it possible to run mods on it, and that can't happen right now unless they allow 1.7.10, AND get rid of their notion that "the only modded content we like is that which we appropriated and stuck in vanilla".

What about the whitelisted servers? They get no love here! Because of griefing, I will never run my server any other way, and since you have no interest in preserving a sane, mature application process through the new feature, I will stick to the "old" method: Reddit page.

Wood boats - keep as is
Iron boats (or maybe gold, since the boat recipe with iron instead of wood is a minecart) - squids don't break them, won't break against shore except perhaps to drop as an item
Obsidian boats - Sailing in LAVA

Shot by a shulker in the end! (The place, not a euphemism for anything!) The player has to throw down all of his items for another player to collect and put in a chest, because the only way he can get down is to the south-- where there is another island tall enough-- across the chasm.
I like this sort of thing! Will definitely be paying attention. And the boats-- whether gold (hint hint), iron or just stone, I would love to see them! -

Underground Biomes compat is being worked on with an addon mod. Development news is on the discord.

Multi-layer presets are perhaps the coolest feature in CC, as you can have all kinds of terrain gen in just 1 overworld. However, despite Minecrak and myself's work on maps for our servers (and a couple of others who've done layers), there's still very little documentation and we don't know everything that can be done with this exciting feature. The CC discord has the most information and people willing to help.

There were 3 mods for 1.13.2 the same day Forge 1.13.2 came out. By today there are over 40.

Water level can be changed, yes.
Normal CC behavior is to continue the caves all the way down. To stop it at a certain Y, you would have to make a separate layer in the preset JSON that was below the level desired and generated no caves.

Now we have a working mod. Thanks to @StuffTheChicken for making it!

Yeah, it's the smooth stone like the slabs but without the middle line.

Back in beta 1.8, Stone Bricks were added. Many people, still intent on playing beta 1.7.3, wanted them added to it. Such a mod was actually made for beta 1.7.3, though it had no recipe and the texture was wrong.
Today, of course, many people are still on 1.12.2 during these days of 1.14 snapshots. In my attempts at assembling a killer modpack for 1.12.2, I managed to get everything wanted (including debarked logs), except smooth stone blocks.
If someone would make a mod for that (please, no MCreator), and only that, I would be happy. It doesn't even have to have a recipe, since I can add one myself with another mod.
Or if someone would point me in the direction of an already existing mod that I somehow missed, I would be grateful. Thanks for your time.
EDIT: No, can't add Quark to the modpack, it crashes. Thanks for the suggestion though.

There's a converter on the Discord. Or just download it from this link.
To use it, run it, it's not a mod.

Crayfish furniture places quite well, thank you.
All mod compatibilities are on the Github: https://github.com/OpenCubicChunks/CubicChunks/wiki/Mod-Compatibility-for-Minecraft-1.12.2-%28Pre-API%29 .
Don't think WorldPainter works (or WorldEdit, etc.) Any mod with a 256 height limit hardcoded in is difficult to get around. Tell them to fix it! (They likely won't of course.)

The closest thing to a "host-only mod" that is this involved, would be a plugin. No plugin architecture works with CC. Therefore, just like any other dimension mod, you have to have all clients install it with Forge. But there are ways of helping make the process easier, like launchers etc.

Try MalisisCore 6.3.2. Some things were changed with 6.4.0 that break the GUI. (It's being worked on.)

Oh, it definitely matters. Any one of those could be subtly altering how anything is done.

I missed that bit of news. Congrats on still being around and (hopefully) updating to 1.10.2!

You could just run a regular LotR game but not go into Middle Earth, but then you have to spawn in all other non-vanilla blocks/items/etc.
To be honest, though, even if it didn't have Middle Earth, the mod would still use up a lot of memory because of everything else you want in it. Heating up a computer is a hardware issue and not due to any large mod or modpack.
Middle Earth is no more a problem then the Nether or End is, or anything from other dimensional mods.

At present we have builds for 1.10.2, 1.11.2 and 1.12.1. The main one is 1.11.2, and 1.10.2 is a backport that I do not know how long it will be supported-- likely at least until the alpha is released.
