I am currently working on a Town mod - slightly bigger and more varied villages - and at the moment I am mainly trying to do the same thing as the vanilla villages, random location, random placement, but popped and unchanged houses. I also feel the need for a more complex house generation system where each house can be unique.
What I was trying to work a similar logic for procedural houses and by creating wall by wall a perimeter that must find a way back to its origin. A second story would follow the same logic with chances to have balconies (meaning less inside space). Same could be done with a basement.
House tops and outside decoration is also what makes a house unique. That could be easily done (I believe) By having specific kind of decoration that would be placed randomly.

It would have to be an expensive item so that people don't overuse it. And when the altar is activated, you are teleported a few blocks up of the other one with feather falling for 5 seconds. Just a thought ^^

What do you think should replace it though?
It seems to me that this website is considered the norm in this community - for the moment. I don't know any replacement to it yet but as soon as people will start to use it, others will do.
I guess a better way for modders to get paid for their services and time should be a more centralized donation system.
I'd like to hear known modders on how much they actually get percentage wise from ads as opposed to donations.

I'm so still having a hard time to code this and would really appreciate the help of a more experienced modder but in the mean time it's fun to see when people like this.
So what's your idea on the underwater towns, should they be a specific style or should they be like any of the more normal towns but simply underwater? And what should chests give as random items?

I have to admit some of the far mountains look silly ^^' otherwise I really like the idea and I don't understand how such mountains are not already part of the generation processes.
Hunger is already a part of Minecraft, and thirst could be interesting, but I have the impression it would be making it too complex. Instead, it drinking water should have a low saturation of hunger, as in, it may replenish the bar, but only for a shorter time than say a loaf of bread.
Frostbite and heatstroke would happen when somebody wears the wrong kind of equipment at a certain temperature for a long time in my belief. So unless one wears a full leather (hide, not latex) suit, one would suffer of frostbite, while under hot temperature one should simply wear fire protection or no-metal equipment.
Sleep seems unnecessary though in my opinion, it would add to realism but take away from game effect, especially if one is on a server and can't really sleep.
So how different do you want the rope from this mod? The mod you are using to ride up actually seems very fine as is. The real thing that needs to be added for a Mountaineer mod is a new biome, and simply being coupled with this mod, no?
I want a glider now XD.

I would really like to see it minecraftian in the sense that it follows the moon cycles, as there is an upcoming official season system so it would be great if this could lead the way in terms of how to separate time.

- Accessible upon death or through an item

- Creepers and skeletons are not, you can even trade with them
- You can walk and see through anything wooden

To make it look realistic, it would spawn similarly as a river separating two biomes (like for India's crushing in Asia) or following a coast line (like the rocky mountains).
I think though that it would be cool to have caves at some points in them, and that it should have some sort of layers like bedrock or cobble stone to break the monotony of the stone. Also, why not spawn some ores at sight, which would give a good reason to have to climb it.
What strikes me with the picture you posted looking down is I can see somebody use a glider to go down, that would be awesome

I would love to be able to name regions and be able to see the name like, top right corner of the screen.
This would obviously be only in the over world, and might have to be joint to the biomes so it does not create other regions.
For example, I could decide to name a particular river (the technical biome) Tiber (the region), and a particular swamp (the biome) Rome (the region).
Similarly, somebody may have the full rights to build and mine on that particular biome for which he/she has rights and may opt for having a team to work with him/her.
I guess the way to name/claim a region would be to have a flag posted in the region/biome which would permit to name-tag the area.
A later addition would be that if somebody breaks the flag and posts a new one, they can claim the land.
Understandably, oceans and rivers cannot be claimed, but could be named.

But to stick with the arrows, I guess for the outlook, when you get hit by one, you have to heal the wound with a bandage of some sort, and this would be showing on the player in the same was as an arrow sticks out of the body. I guess for infection one could get poisoning after a few minutes if not healed with a bandage.
You may want to change your subject's title though, "Great mod Idea" does not tell a lot about the idea.
