    Hi there! I guess I was working on my own to try and make a mod for generating villages. If you don't mind taking a look, this is what I was working on (I am using 1.7 blocks too) :

    I tried to stick with specific sizes for it to be easier to code. There is a few easter eggs in the for of chests, as I consider loot as one of the main reason why villages exist.

    The accompanying text explains how it would work, but I realized how poor I was at java at this point starting with nothing.

    If I have two main requests, one I'd really like to see is an unpopulated underwater village, similar to what I have in there, as well as sometimes two/three housing settlements instead of full grown villages.

    If you see something that you are interested please let me know!

    Would you mind checking the different buildings and see if you find improvement to make? It's always good when things can be even better!

    I'm working on making easy-to-achieve tree houses, you can see them on the lower left part of the map, connections are made by putting openings togethers, each houses have 3 doors connecting to either other houses or to balconies, and it would populate parts of jungle before other trees. Should not be too hard to code.

    naming biomes most likely is possible but that would require VERY advanced math that I don't know. {nope}

    Cool, I'd like to see the stone one being added to other harder-survival mod if you can discuss with one.

    By disc world, I mean a finite world which, instead of looping/warping as other requesters ask (get far enough and you come back to the beginning), would be similar to what people thought of the earth: flat and round shaped. I have already worked around some of the coding but I don't know how to make the size [radius] customizable, I could send you a message with the code I used if you are interested.

    Hi there!

    Do you realize we just pop in dat world? How the heck did we get there?

    I'd like then to see us stranded here somehow... So why not use the chest-at-spawn option to, instead, provide us with some back story to our arrival in that world?

    It could be a few different options. A wrecked boat at the shore, a plane, a space shuttle, a broken "portal", a hut...

    What do you want the portal to look like? Made like a rectangle as for Nether portals, or a single block on the ground?

    Do you really need a texture, or do you want to use blocks that already exist?

    I asked a few people for these but I'd like your thought :)

    Discworld-like edge of the world
    I have been trying to work on a disc world, making finite worlds but to which you can see the edges, sharp and flat as the world was thought to be. People could still build on the edges but it would largely help with stopping word generation.

    The result on a one-map scale looks like this for the moment and I am looking for a better modder to work on it.


    (Outside of the rim are mineshafts that continued to grow)

    Of course the size of the worlds would have to be customizable.


    Automatic map filling
    There always has been something with those silly maps. I'd like it if I could just go around and do my normal things like killing cows and running into creepers without having to traverse the world with a map in my hands so it can fill itself.

    Regions: Names for specific biomes

    I would like to name-tag, as for animals, specific biomes. This can give a feel to the world you are whether you play solo or multiplayer. A whole ocean could be called the Pacific, a swamp Rome, a forest Riverdale, mountains The Dwarfs', etc.

    Realistic stone: The deeper it is located, the harder it is to mine it

    I think that the fact that stone is relatively easy to mine is a bad thing for exploration and adventure. Looking for diamond? Dig more or less straight down to almost bedrock, and then make tunnels in hope to find it. Not much risk. Not exciting. This is way too easy. This is not minecraft.

    Why not make it that the lower a stone is on the Y-axis, the longer it takes to mine it? That, or it breaks down the pickaxe more easily. Whichever is easier to code / better for user experience.

    This small change would sound like an annoyance, but by forcing people to go through caves, the adrenaline of the risk to encounter funny folks is higher. So the choice would be less clear between breaking down slowly the rock, or risking your (minecraft) life in caves and mine shafts.

    Hi there!

    Link to the Town's Map of schematic again.

    Towns will follow a specific logic to be created, and it may be of only a temple, or a house or two if there is towns too near.

    An expanded town may look like this:




    And this is the temple for a new town style.


    I'd like to insist on this: I am not so great at coding myself, but I can explain all the different procedural aspect the code would have to do. It seems to me that this would be complex but not complicated. My problem is that my main coding experience is with PHP, not Java.

    The idea behind this is to have a compact world, more or less limited resource, the eeriness of an edge, and the possibility to make moons, comets and other planets farther.

    If you want I can share with you where I am at. I could find out how to stop generation passed a certain point, but I would like it to be customizable from the world generation menu.


    (this is what I was able to come up with but don't know how to make the size modifiable, and outside the edge is mine shafts continuing to grow on their own)

    Nice for communities as well as on own's own. There is:
    A few waterfalls and one lava fall on the mainland,
    Many medium sized island to build on.
    Cool mountains on the water side.
    2 villages, one in the middle of the bottom left corner of the map, the other at the top right. None have blacksmiths though.
    A quite large stronghold in the north east area of this map under the savannah.
    Another but quite broken stronghold south of the southern village.

    To the east of this is map is a desert, to the west and south the mainland continues, to the north is mainly the ocean continuing. I have not explored much more.

    What do you think? Make or break?

    I have been considering posting this for a while and I would like to have your opinion on it.

    Minecraft created a genre. It has its own vibe and ambiance. It is a gate to an open world in which one has to survive yet be creative while doing so.

    This is why I consider the addition of elements outside of this ideal wasted effort. Sure, that game/show/movie is great, I do believe it. But making a mod specific to that game/show/movie will only touch a niche.

    Instead, if there is something you really like about a game/show/movie that is not in Minecraft, it would be great to try and broaden the idea.

    For example, if somebody really likes the movie Treasure planet, it may seem a great idea to have floatable pirate ships leading to other planets. This is in fact two ideas. One sounds like Archimede's ship mod, which already exists, and the other is maybe having floating island generation.

    By doing the effort of broadening your request, not only will you possibly have what you want and let your imagination do the rest, it will also have more chance to have people wanting to create the mod and use it, and separated mods can more easily work together.

    Considering this, what do you want in general of a mod?

    Very useful idea indeed. I think that it should have some sort of handicap to it otherwise it would be too much used as opposed to normal ones.

    How about it slows you down (you have to be careful when carrying something that can smelt iron), or you can only smelt a maximum of 16 items (portable size also means smaller portions), or you can only have one at the time in your inventory?

    I don't know if this is possible to add but here is my idea.

    At the moment, Biome generation is done randomly following a seed. Instead, I would like to have the possibility to render the world following an image giving the topography and biome generation.

    This is pretty much the opposite of making a map from the generated world.

    There could be a second map showing the underground. Not sure how it would work though.

    This could work for a quite big world if the image is big enough, and I guess it becomes normal generation passed its limit.

    What do you think?
