It's been a while since my last post around here. I recently went back to texturing, so I thought of sharing a bit of what I've been doing. I'm using a custom palette for this pack and so far I'm liking how it's coming along. :)

It's a picture from a cave in my 1.9 snapshot world. Everything here is done minus the particles.

Made some more textures, and revamped the sand and stone.

The woods are: Oak, Spruce, Birch and Acacia, along with their respective leaves The other ones are tall grass and fern + extra tall variants.

@Ringoster: I have some comments on your palette from the SPS3. You said over there that this is the first time you make one, I thought of giving you some feedback on what I felt using it.

First of all, I like the colors, you chose some very good ones, and the transitions between them are very spot on. There are also some gray-brown-yellow synergies floating around that I quite like. The blues and purples (and if you stretch it a bit, the grays too) also have a good deal of combinations. I have yet to figure them out, as they were the ones I used the least, however, I think I was able to make 6-7 combination for the lapiz lazuli ore alone when mixing them, so I definitely see potential there.

However, I think the greens are not very balanced, the contrast is too high between the darkest and lightest tone, and the two middle ones. At first I was worried about the red being too brown-ish, but once you combine it with other colors it really looks red, so it's all good.

Overall it's great, the reds, browns, yellows and blues have some good synergies, but the greens need to be tweaked as the extremes of the ramp are way too contrasting for a general use.

    Hey everyone.

I made some stuff with Ringo's palette from the SPS 3, what do you think?

    Clockwise, from top left corner:

Cobblestone + Mossy, Grass top and side, stone and ores, bricks, gravel, farmland dry and irrigated dirt and sand.

Thanks mate, glad you're liking it!

    Neato!

Do you mind if I include a link in the OP or combine it into a pack with the rest of my mod support? I've got a whole bunch of other mod support finished/semi finished thanks to a couple of other people plus me and I'd like to have a mod section which will contain links to it all, if not having one downloadable mod addon pack. Of course I'll include full credits to you for your work either way!

List of mods completed/semi completed so far would be:

    Archimedes Ships Mod
    Backpack Mod
    Barrels Mod
    Better Grass And Leaves
    Bibliocraft
    Buildcraft
    COFH Core
    Dynamic Earth
    Growthcraft - Bamboo
    Growthcraft - Rice
    Iron Chests
    Luppii's Ladders
    Mystcraft
    Nether Ores
    Project Red
    Railcraft
    Redstone Arsenal

    Roadblocks
    Secret Rooms Mod
    Simply Jetpacks
    Thermal Expansion
    Weapon Mod
    Several Modules from Xtra Blocks:
    Xtra Blocks DIY Fencing
    Xtra Blocks DIY Metal
    Xtra Blocks DIY Powered
    Xtra Blocks DIY Xtras
    Yet Another Food Mod

Oh, also, for anyone wondering what I'm up to currently, I'm starting work on the guardians and I'm also redoing my skybox + finishing off the daytime skybox. I've also redone my addon packs so that they only use the model system where possible instead of ctm so they have maximum compatibility and should work in vanilla. I'll take new photos of them too.

I'm also working on reworking the OP a bit as for some reason the forums bugged out and all my pictures got deleted and my formatting got a little buggered up.

Here's a pic of how I've redone the moons in my skybox:

    -snip-

Of course you can, that would be great!

And those are some awesome new moons. Actually, your skyboxes overall are excellent, they are so good they fit with the other packs I use, even.

Hey, Sheep, I made mod support to the Roadblocks Mod, it's just a small mod that adds exactly what the title says, road blocks.

I'll leave here a download link to the zip file I made, if you'd like to see it: Link

This is the mod I'm talking about: Roadblocks

I've been doing lots of items recently, experimenting with animations and working over the GUI (just finished the HUD). I might have enough for a thread to showcase (maybe even publish) by now, but I want to finish a few more items before I make any of that.

Anyways, here are my tools, tell me what you think. :)

    Assorted items I did today:

Top row: Wheat, Bread, Gold and Iron Ingots

Bottom row: Records (13 & 11), Acacia Door item, Emerald

Also, here's an album cover I'm turning into a painting for my pack, just 'cause :P

Pics from my unnamed pack taken in my current modded world.

(I'm aware of the problem with the bed side, I 'll try to fix it later.)

There are lots of other things I didn't show here, as I have about 3/4 of the block textures done already, as well as most of the GUIs and part of the HUD. Most entities are still vanilla, the only ones I've done are the chest and the sign.

Crap, it's hard to work with a palette, but at least it's easier to nail down the color department, which is, IMO the hardest part of texturing.

Here I present you... a sunflower!

Those are also the actual sunflower textures of my pack.

Also, here's the cover of The Dark Side of the Moon, which make for a nice minimalistic painting. ;)

Unrelated to textures. Made a few album covers today. Here are two of them:

Wish You Were Here - Pink Floyd

Blur - Blur (It's their eponymous album, OK? :P )

If not for the fact that my pack is not quite modern, I would add them as painting, but that not the case, so... eh.

Yesterday in the night I finished all the tree/wood stuff by doing the leaves.

From left to right: Oak, Big Oak, Spruce, Birch, Jungle and Acacia.

As I mentioned before, some logs are inspired in the bark style of Pixel Perfection, specifically, the oak, big oak and spruce. Meanwhile, the leaves are inspired in photos of the real life versions of the trees in-game (Jungle trees are based on mahogany), the leaves are also tinted, but I forgot to change to default on this screenshot to show the actual colors.

Finally, there's a detail here. I've had problems with the browns for the plank colors though, so the oak and spruce are very similar and hard to distinguish and want to remake either to differentiate them. I'm open to ideas! :)

    These are great textures!
However, a few things that you might want to change are:
    1. There are two base ore block patterns. The ores themselves have a nice variety to them, but the blocks of ores are to similar.
    2. Add a better white scale to the palette. This will help with the andesite (white stone) and other blocks that use white. (Quartz possibly)
    3. The Cobblestone has a vertical line in it. To me, this could become annoying if I were to play with this pack. I do like the cobble other than this.
    4. If you are up for it, add a random variant or two to the grass, there seems to be a slight tilling issue with it that could be resolved easily this way.
    5. There are not enough textures done. These are too epic to be left by themselves. You must make more. That is a must. So do it.

    Thanks you for the reply.

    1. Yes, most are placeholders though. I only need inspiration to do something the blocks of ore, so I'll replace them with time. I already changed the emerald block though.
    2. I think you mean diorite (andesite is the grey/brown stone), but yeah, I'll consider it. I already expanded the blue to include cyans (the only color lacking in the pallete) and added a one extra green, so maybe I'll see if I can get a good extra whites.
    3. I do see what you mean, it's not a big deal to me, but other people might not like it, so I tweaked the texture to break up that line.
    4. Well, once I understand how to do that, I may, but right now, I'll keep the grass as is.
    5. Of course! More texture coming up! :D

It's incredible how much you can cut down by doing the wools, glasses and clays. I count 160 textures that I have already done, mostly thanks to said blocks, though I want to remake the clays, since they look awful and flat right now.

Anyways, with the textures I have, I think I have enough to show game screenshots from one of my worlds. Yay!

All the textures inside the spoiler were done by myself, minus the leaves and water, those are default (and I'm using the Better Foliage Mod, btw).
Ah! A little village! With a pretty town square to boot!

I took this one to showcase the normal glass and the oak door. There are other doors done, but I'm playing on 1.7.10, so I couldn't show them here.

Some nature, to show some of the logs, some of which were inspired by XSSheep's Pixel Perfection, my favorite resource pack. Here you can also see my grass top and side, tall grass and the dirt.

    Comments are appreciated. :)

Hello, everyone, I wanted to share some textures I've done recently. I've done about 70 textures or so using Jimmy Walker's pallet, which I took from the Simple Pack Showdown 2 thread.

Here are some pics, tell me what you think about them.
