Well, I had 30 levels saved up and wanted to get a good enchant on a bow.
If you use an enchanting table with any expectations whatsoever, you lose. It's random, you're not going to specifically get what you want most of the time, that much should be obvious.
Maybe not superb, but at least something like Power III and Infinity I.
Dat 3% chance. But seriously, you have high standards since getting infinity period happens about 20% of the time.
I drop 30 levels on a bow and what do I get? Flame I. That's it. Gee, thanks game.
I should probably mention that there isn't a flame II or III. However, I agree that this is a bad bow. You had about 85% chance of getting a Power III or IV, but you didn't get any. You just got unlucky, it happens.
And just to rub it in, I then drop 7 more levels on a different bow, just to get something decent. Power I. Not great, but many times better then Punch I, as power allows to 2-shot enemies with a bow.
What a waste. Using 1 level will give you Power I 100% of the time. You could get 7 Power 1 bows with all those levels.
The bow will only give you something different starting at level 9.
Next time, try between 10-16. There's a good chance you'll get Power II with possibly Punch I as a bonus. If you're unlucky, you'll get only Punch I or Power I about 10% of the time. Over 16 Becomes a lot more random and a lot more inconsistent, so I wouldn't recommend it unless you have a crapload of levels and don't know what to do with them. Besides, it doesn't really make a huge difference, getting Power I or II should be good enough to 1-2 shots 99% of the enemies.

Stevern waited. The redstone lamps above him blinked and sparked out of the air. There were demons in the map.
He didnt see them, but had expected them now for years. His warning to Cernel Vaks were not listenend to
and now it was too late. Far too late now, anyway.
Stevern was a Minecrafter for fourteen y ears. When he was young he watched the minecarts and he said to
dad "I want to be in the carts daddy."
Dad said "No! You will BE KILL BY DEMONS"
There was a time when he believed him. Then as he got oldered he stopped. But now in the hostile map
of the Vaks he knew there were demons.
"This is Vaks" the chat log crackered. "You must fight the demons!"
So Stevern gotted his encant bow and blew up the wall.
"HE GOING TO KILL US" said the demons
"I will shoot at him" said the ghast and he fired the feiry fireballs. Stevern shotted at him and tried to
blew him up. But then the cieeling fell and they were trapped and not able to kill.
"No! I must kill the demons" he shouted
The chat said "No, Stevern. You are the demons"
And then Stevern was a zombie.
I wonder how many people got that.

also, I don't recall if this was possible before, but the layers can now be stacked to a full block size, while still acting like snow covering.
Does that means it acts like glass, allowing the sunlight inside? If it does, you could make ceilings that aren't really ceilings with those. Well, as long as you don't update them that is.

I think the reason people are freaking out is because those snow layers are often used for hard-to-see snow traps, which are now broken.
Oh, I see. I didn't even notice that you could walk on them.
You can even craft it apparently: http://i.imgur.com/OhifIRn.png
Jan 31, 2013Bonemeal is now between being OP and being inefficient. Usually, most of the food you produce in CTM maps are from farms and I don't really like having to wait for it to grow, so I usually just have a bonemeal setup to speed things up. I'm glad to see that it's still reliable.Posted in: Maps
Also, I don't get why people are going crazy about the snow layers... you could do that already with external programs.
One last thing : "comparators constantly causing block updates" was fixed. If you have anything using this, it's not working anymore. If you make contraptions with features from snapshots, you're a fool if you think it's going to stay stable, especially if you're abusing a bug.

I really don't like it. It doesn't add anything to the game.
You're wrong, it adds a ton of clicking to do.
I think you can just hold the button down... right? Worst case scenario, you can use a dispenser with a clock to help you... if you have enough bonemeal that is.
I wish it was 2 or 3 steps instead of 1... or maybe an AoE like the grass.

Thanks I will defiantly use them in the future.
Not trying to be rude, but...
I'm just saying.
Also, Dispenser + TNT + Hoppers = Almost infinite TNT cannon anyone?

you could make a non-trapped chest cause an explosion if you take any items out of it.
So? You can just run away as always.
Or, for the more creative minds out there, you could simply swap the items for other items just like Indiana Jones.
As for the trapped chests, a lot of people are just using texture packs in order to tell the difference more easily. The best thing to do in this case is to make all the chests in the map trapped chests. That way, you can trap the ones you want to trap without making it painfully obvious and you can make the player paranoid.

I've also been watching a few LP's of the advent maps, and am wondering how the save files appear in the world menu for everyone. The way they work for me, and how they're intended to look is like this:
but I've seen some people with the "§" symbol visible and replaced with different characters. If this is a common problem I might change it, but just want to see how many people are affected by it first.
Keep in mind that I'm playing with 1.2.5, so that might not look like that in other Minecraft versions

Self imposed rules :
No Invisibility PotionNo Lava BucketNo Ender PearlNo PistonNo TNT
Texture pack is painterly with a few modifications from me
Part 1 :
Those traps at the start are really nasty, so I decided to block them in order to take it easy.
Part 2 :
This is what I'll start with. The utility chest is useless to me because of my self imposed rules. Also, I wont be using boats and a lighter here. Burning enemies is slow and really bad when you need to kill monsters as fast as posssible and there's no water in sight, so those boats are useless. I also compressed all the sand into sandstone to make sure I make bridges that are actual bridges.
Part 3 :
Alright! Made it to the altar! But there's a slight problem here... I don't have anything to put on it. Damnit. I'll have to restart the map because I know I wont leave this place alive.
Part 4 :
I noticed a hole in the lava and I decided to investigate. It turned out to be the bonus disk. I tried to get it just to see what was gonna happen. I managed to get my hands on it, but I got knocked off in the void. Well, at least I know where the disk is. I managed to get it for real this time right after getting the black wool. By going all the way down here, all the ghasts that spawned from grabbing the black wool despawned! The main room was clear once again.
Part 5 :
What a minute! There's dungeons in this map!? This place might be more interesting to explore after all. Unfortunately, I didn't get the wool I was looking for, but at least I got some fire resistance potions. I also grabbed the fire aspect fire because why not.
Part 6 :
Woah, I think I missed some dungeons along the way. This one has a really nice enchanted flint with sharpness and a ridiculous smite. Also, there's enderpearls, but I can't use them, so I left them there.
Part 7 :
Yeah... this place. Quite easy to get to the end, but quite harder to leave it. I ended up pillaring in a corner. The reward didn't look very interesting, just some better boots and a punch bow. I rather have a power bow than a punch bow.
Part 8 :
Damn, I got stuck for a whole minute in webs trying to leave this place, but I managed to survive somehow. My armor however took some serious damage. Those boots actually did help after all! Inside, I found an anti-spider fermented spider eye. I think the enchanted flint is better than the enchanted fermented spider eye, but I took it anyway. However, the big thing in this dungeon is the milk bucket. I didn't even realize until I was out of the dungeon that the hunger debuff was gone for good! Very nice.
Part 9 :
You'll have to excuse the poor lighting here, I'm out of torches. I'll go grab the 3 stacks I left at the start later. This place wasn't so bad, especially with the boots. I took minimal damage from the blasts. I quickly grabbed the infinite gold pickaxe and left.
Part 10 :
So, I have looted dungeon 1,2,3,4 and 5, grabbed the black wool and the music disk, the only thing left is the red wool, but I have no idea where it is. Also, there might be more than 5 dungeons...
Part 11 :
Ok, nevermind, there is only 5 dungeons. The dungeons are all done and I have the disk, so super bonus victory? No, it's going to be a victory when I'll get the red wool and place the wools and the disk on the altar. I searched the entire carvern and I just couldn't find the red wool. I gave up on it for now and decided to secure the path to the altar first.
Part 12 :
Are you kidding me?! There's no way to reach this place unless you have enderpearls, minecarts with rails or boats. I think this is a legitimate reason to break my no enderpeals rule if I'm actually expected to go through those bedrock stripes. Unfortunately, I had nothing to reach this wool, so I had to leave, go to the dungeon #5 (because I knew there were 8 enderpearls there) and come back.
My armor took serious damage in dungeon #4, so much in fact that the helmet broke in the altar room. That porkchop wasn't infinite after all, I managed to reduce it down below 64. I got a few potions left. All the dungeon loot is on the left. That includes :
-The Fermented Spider Eye
-The Milk Bucket

There are small random loot dungeons, that you can clear for loot, and light them up to mark them. It would absolutely no point for you to just light them up, you wont clear anything by it, and you don't have to complete them, its optional.
One would assume that the loot is at the end of the dungeon.
One would also assume that there's danger between the entrance and the end where we assume the loot is.
Therefore if you can use the path that the redstone uses to reach the lamps outside, one can skip all the danger and get to where we assume the loot is.
Of course, that wouldn't be worth it if the dungeon is extremely small and it wouldn't work if the loot isn't at the end or if the redstone path for the lamps isn't accessible.
That's what I meant.
