Same thing happened to me after the update. Seems to only happen when I set the render distance to anything above 12 chunks. VBOs on did prevent it from happening though so I can agree it's a temporary fix.

I probably have a decently average gaming computer and it took about 1.5 to 2 hours to convert it to the new Anvil format, and minecraft ran out of memory 5 or 6 times (it resumes where it left off when you begin the conversion again) before it finally finished converting my save.

This is with a map I've done very little to so far (two reasonably sized cities and a few river/terrain tweaks around them so I haven't changed too much). So, yeah. Just a head's up.

    Quote from zipididee

Does the sun rise in the east and set in the west on this map?

It used to, since the change in the pre-releases it now rises in the south and sets in the west.

It is between the leftmost bed texture and the lit redstone repeater texture. Might be hard to see if you're just previewing the image. Just look for the blue pixels in that area.

I likely would have never noticed the change, however, the sun now rises in the South on my SP earth map and sets in the north which completely ruins it for me.

Always used the sun's direction for finding which way I was going anyway, so east was where the sun rose regardless of what the x,y said. Never used maps either as I tend to have a pretty good visual memory when it comes to terrain, though that's been messed up a little for the SMP maps I play on due to having the directions memorized by terrain.

Awesome map, been messing around with it for a while now, though the sudden 90 degree switch to where the sun/moon rises kinda disrupts some of the immersion it had.

Need to actually finish building something before resetting it and building something else though.

Visual memory normally. If I do get lost I'll wander around the local area until I spot a rock formation I recognize.

Had this problem as well just a bit ago. Reinstalling minecraft (and downgrading since our server's still on 1.4) fixed it for me.

Lots of changes since I first posted this. See the change log for the full list.

That said, I've only got 3 mob textures and a few random icons and the wheat to do. Water, lava and portal animations are going to be a monster to tackle, however, and I'm almost considering just leaving the placeholders as my pixel art skills are likely not good enough to do those right.

    Minecraft VX

    Disclaimer!
There are still quite a few textures that I haven't gone over and changed yet. Also, many of the textures are from RPG Maker VX, hence the theme.

    Summary:
This texture pack started when I first discovered texture packs and how much they can improve the game. Early on it started with 16x16 edits of RPG Maker tiles, but improved to a 32x32 size when I found the HD Texture Fix for Minecraft texture packs. Basically it's a collection of RPG Maker VX tiles, items or tiles, items and objects themed in the same style.

    Progress: 80% Complete
      [*:2nwpn1ub]GUI - Finished
      [*:2nwpn1ub]Environment - 95%
      [*:2nwpn1ub]Armour - 95%
      [*:2nwpn1ub]Items - 95%
      [*:2nwpn1ub]Art - 95%
      [*:2nwpn1ub]Mobs - 81%
      [*:2nwpn1ub]Animations - 0%

    To be Done:
    "Bleeding Obsidian" is still Default.
Repeater Block Icon is still Default.
    Bed Icon is still Default.
Six of the Armour Icons need to be brought up to 32x32 size from 16x16.
    Minecart item icons need recoloring.
Wheat Progress is currently a placeholder from Doku's RPG Pack.
Particles are currently a placeholder from Doku's RPG Pack (I think).
Water animation is a smaller version of Misa's HD water. Not looking forward to editing this.
Lava animation is a smaller version of Misa's HD lava. Not looking forward to editing this.
Portal animation is a smaller version of Misa's HD portal. Not looking forward to editing this.
    Cow, Sheep and Skeleton textures are currently placeholders from someone's pack of which I forget the name of. :sleep.gif:;

Please note: this texture pack requires Xau's HD Texture Fix in order to work due to it being a 32x32 size pack.

The painting (kz.png) file will have it's own credit list once I look up the owners of all the images since some are from RPG Maker, some are from internet sources and two so far are my own creations.

Reeds could potentially be some sort of mutated vine. Sugar could instead be a type of sweet sap and the vines while dried could still be used for paper.

Personally though, I use bookshelves a lot for aesthetics so I don't think I could easily do without them (not to mention existing maps would look funny afterward). Plus, when you think about it, books would be one of the most valuable things in a post-apocalyptic wasteland.
