No, it has not been discontinued, just put on hold. I've become really busy lately so I haven't had the time to work on it (or any of my mods for that matter). I am trying to normalize my schedule so I can devote time to programming again. It bugs me I have so many things left to add to my mods and no time to do them :(

Fun fact: Cybernetica has been downloaded over 1,000 times since I haven't worked on it. I get it! You guys want more Cybernetica :)

    any updates on cybernetica?

Yes! I am currently working on an overhaul of the implant and module mechanic by turning it into a sort of mini-game. Modules take up a certain number of grid spaces in your implants, limiting the overall number of modules that can be installed.

Also, is it just me or does my OP not show any spoiler buttons?

Seeing as the portal is focused around the tainted nodes, in my opinion you should focus your dimension around the origin of taint as no other addons have done much with taint, or even the lore of it. Maybe even a hidden dungeon in the new realm that has extensive research to reverse taint? Maybe even have a way to reverse engineer taint with pure magic into a beneficial flora? If i had any better experience in java id offer my assistance because i really enjoy the idea this mod has.

I am thinking something along those lines already. The prysmal armor is supposed to help represent this. Despite the mod centering around the dimension itself, I am trying to provide two perspectives to the mod. On one side you have the corruption of Xth'uoth (such as blighters and the dimension), and on the other you have the Overworld's resistance to it (such as silverwood and prysmal). Also as a person who enjoys good lore, I do intent to add some more of my own :)

    VIS/ASPECTS/ESSENTIA

As you have determined and many people have agreed with, there are a moderate number of aspects with little to no use and removing them would be best. However I feel you should still have more than the primal aspects because they give more context to the things they represent. For example it wont feel the same exploring the Eldritch arts if they are identified with just perdito and terra instead of alienis and victum.

    RESEARCH/RESEARCH POINTS/SCANNING

I don't think research is challenging enough to be exciting, considering how integral it is to the core idea of Thaumcraft. Research points felt like a superfluous resource whose largest challenge was having enough instead of using it strategically. I would really like to see research become a puzzle/puzzle-like minigame. Though I don't expect you to do something exactly like this, Interlock is a nice example. Pieces of the puzzle would be aligned with a research related aspect and would be locked in place until you 'fed' it (drag-and-dropped onto) an item that shared its aspect. The immediate downsides to this specific approach are the rendering difficulty and creating new puzzles every time with its challenge level increasing with the level of the research. You could also do something similar to BioShock's pipe hacking mini-game. Like the previous idea, each space is aligned with an aspect and is unchangeable until you feed it an item. If none of these sound good I would encourage playing some online flash puzzle games if you're interested in the idea.

Now as an addon developer, The only thing I would like to add to scanning would to be able to unlock research immediately on a successful scan. Specifically I have lore in my mod that I only want known after they've scanned and learned about a specific block, item, or entity. The knowledge fragments and chance-scanning are really good mechanics for some hidden research, but immediate unlocking would allow for a slightly different mix of progression and storytelling.

For now it looks like a purple nether with a beautiful sky, but there isn't much to do here.

I have a line of plants and mobs coming out in the next release which should fill it out more, in addition to some improved terrain gen (hopefully).
