posted a message on [WIP] All Things Bright and Beautiful

This is the brainchild of a simple pack submission that was way too detailed to be entered, and several months of procrastination and development hell. Currently I'm running with the theme of 'detailed cartoonish', trying to cross over Dokucraft with Love and Tolerance with my own style of pixel art, which tends towards the detailed.

Note: several of the textures in the below images are outdated or have been redone, most notably the stone and the various woods. I'd suggest looking through the thread for progressively recent textures.

This is obviously by no means finished. I'll post textures semi-regularly unless I end up going on hiatuses. I appreciate feedback, or better, ideas, so if you've got any please leave them/it below!

I'm messing around with proper biome coloring. This is also the main area of my testing world; you can see a lot of the facades and block setups from both earlier images and images from my Discovery pack.

I also made a new sand texture that's designed to work with alternating blocks. It looks kind of weird, though. Comparison image:

And the spruce planks have been redone. (again!)

The door will get a custom model later.

Heh, I have absolutely no intention of actually doing that. It would be better to upload a human skin to Minecraft's server and use the skin server in case you want to use this model. A lot of people will probably keep using the old model if they're given the choice, if just because the new one is a lot more complicated.

The Mine Little Pony model is in MCSkin3D, right? That will probably help a lot with the texturing

    As a side-note, I did this:

Extremely basic skin for my OC unicorn, Cyber Stream (or Steam Conduct, or Diode, or Lightspeed; I never found a name or particular talent I liked...)

I think the model is just about done, all it needs now is some minor tweaks that Tabula can't do. Is there any bits I missed?

I'd also very much like to get inHaze's stuff working with either the Liteloader or the Forge version. All I want is a smooth, erode, or fill tool that doesn't collapse the ceiling or cliffs I use it on!

posted a message on [CTM] The Ultimate -CTM COMMUNITY- Thread

Welcome to an episode of me screwing with my CTM map, in where I learn how bad an idea it was to try to constrain all my areas to a 19x19 chunk area with bedrock walls everywhere around it! This really in retrospect should have been freaking obvious, eh?

What this means is that in some areas, it just isn't big enough for what I want, and in smaller areas, I have way too much space to fill in. It's gotten bad enough that I'm actually considering trashing the map and starting over completely from the beginning, since it's just going to get worse the longer I wait. I'll certainly copy over a couple of the areas I do like, like Rainbow Falls, Moon's Haven, and possibly High Kerbol Orbit, but I'll be completely redesigning just about everything else.

In less depressing but somewhat irrelevant news, I worked on the Fusion Desert which is now entirely unworthy of that name, since there's very little sci-fi stuff in it and it's a canyon, not a desert.

I also came up with a theme for a new area while building a PvP arena for a multiplayer server that will likely replace one of the areas I'm not happy with.

    You people like this theme?

    Them eyes

    Them hair

Almost makes me wonder if I should adjust my model accordingly.

Also, does anybody know how to get Tabula to allow me to change the scale of individual blocks instead of whole model groups? My hair block is 9x9x9 because I can't figure out how to just change the MC scale of it alone when I attach it to the head.

    Edit:

A couple minor changes. Also posing, yey! I want a pony plush with a metal framework that lets you pose it. That sounds cool.

Which of these do you guys prefer, with separated legs or without? I think Dalfio had something of a valid point; though I think I've fixed most of what s/he was referring to.

Thinking about this made me think: this isn't off-topic, is it? I mean, me and this model. It's related to MineLP enough, right?

I did and am still doing a thing.

What exactly would it take to rig a model like this (not quite this one; I still need to do stuff like add wings) to a MLP install?

Even if it's near impossible this was still a fun project. :P Look at that texture layout; this thing would be near impossible to make work with a vanilla skin, but I figured since we have a custom skin server it might be possible to use that to ditch the whole requirement for a backwards-compatible skin.

Edit: Here's a different angle, several small changes, and a much larger texture map image with rearranged minor stuff.

Now I'm going to bed because it's really late and if I delay any longer I'll end up waking up at 11 again.

But seriously, now that we have a custom skin server why don't we have bigger skin sheets and a skin layout that actually makes sense?

note: not that my layout makes any sense

    All the ores!

    I'll increase their contrast later.

Also, the metal blocks. I'll also increase the contrast of some of these, and the redstone is a placeholder right now.

This actually looks really good for a terrain mod. I love those mountains in the forests.

Is there a way to force a biome to have a 100% generation of large oak trees? I'd bet that would look amazing on the forest floor, if too many didn't get cut off.

I'm experimenting with the stone brick stuff. Also cobblestone.

And I redid the stone as an experiment. I'm not sure I"m happy with this, it's a bit low on saturation.
