I think the eyes are too big.

If my memory serves me right, the upward rain texture was an MCPatcher thing. They were flipped in-game.

Edit: Never mind what I said. Haha. It was older versions of Minecraft, not MCPatcher. More recent versions have the texture flipped.

If I recall correctly, the overlays Misa made would make the Snow Golem's Pumpkin head invisible, showing only the custom heads she made. Maybe a feature MCPatcher had that OptiFine doesn't? I can still see the overlays in the optifine folder of the Updated pack.

Are Misa's Snow Golem overlays possible w/o MCPatcher? I kinda miss seeing those snowman faces without having to shear the pumpkin off.

Also, do you guys know about LB Photo Realism Reload! I find that its mob textures go well with this pack.

My apologies. Haven't been active in these forums for more than a year now. The last version I played/modded was 1.7.10. The textures were just something I quickly came up with on GIMP for a quick test run of 1.13 before my relative asked for her PC back. Lol. Not having your own PC sucks. It's nice to see the community still updating this texture resource pack.

@Bidjiguks: Those seem like the ones I remember, and they look much better. Should I still make mine a patch? Lol.

It seems this is most likely an issue with Avira AV. My friends who were also using Avira AV told me they also ran into the same problem. We scanned our PCs with other anti-malware, like avast!, AVG, COMODO and ESET, and we really couldn't find anything. I've also rechecked the status of my submission to Avira Virus Lab. It still says "known clean".

For now, I'm sticking with AVG, Malwarebytes and Windows Defender. I didn't like how Avira AV handled the whole thing.

@AwesomeAhmed: Try checking the hard drive Windows is installed in (it's usually "C:"). If there's a folder named "Windows.old", your files are likely in there.

Had to get rid of Avira AV in my PC as well.

After I downloaded a fresh copy of the MC launcher, I kept receiving notifications from the AV saying it blocked/quarantined it, but for some reason the launcher was still in my downloads folder. Whenever I tried to open my downloads folder, File Explorer kept freezing. I tried deleting the MC launcher via Command Prompt (elevated), but it kept saying "access denied". Disabling real-time protection didn't help. After uninstalling the AV and restarting the PC, I was finally able to delete the MC launcher.

The AV did more harm than the supposed malware itself. I'll just stick with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and Windows Defender, and wait for Avira or Mojang to sort this out.

AtheoAng3l0 posted a message on Minecraft Surpasses 10 Million Sales, 1.6 Feature Spoiler Alert
    Quote from JSX

Oh, the boost, you mean the one that uses 25% of the Carrot on a Sticks durability? So you are right, you just forgot that [Sarcasm]tiny [/Sarcasm] tidbit.

Horses might become more convenient and less expensive on resources than ride-able pigs. Sure, that can be a possibilitity. However, if this is true, the horse would still make the ride-able pig redundant as players will prefer this over ride-able pigs. Like Kyte314 said, why did they bother to implement the ride-able pig when they're planning to implement a better feature that will make it redundant? Our original argument still stands.

    Quote from FishScream

For example, if you see a horse, you don't have to ride it, try NOT clicking on the horse, it takes tons of work, but you literally IGNORE the horse.

I'm pretty sure a number of us who didn't like the horse idea have already said "what we NEED in the game". And no, it's hard to ignore the fact that there is a redundant feature in the game.

I really like to think that there's more to this picture than the horse. Seriously guys, hasn't Jeb already tried posting cryptic pictures to reveal upcoming features in the past before? Can this picture be possibly one of those?

And again, for those who are arguing against "haters" -- there's a difference between complaining irrationally/ignorantly, and criticizing rationally. We only wish to identify what might be the problem so it can be corrected, and we can do so without some negative emotion like hate attached to it at the same time. We don't "hate" horses. We just don't see how it should be implemented when we already have the ride-able pigs. If horses are to be implemented, there should be more to it, like limits, so that there are still some advantages to riding a pig than riding a horse. I can't think of any good limits for the horses at the moment, but if they could come up with something really good we're up for it. If you guys think we're wrong, you should've come up with a good rational argument other than calling us haters, and hating us for being haters.

Yeah, umm and they're too slow to even bother with considering I could use the run command.

Seriously, what's up with you guys saying pigs are slower than sprinting? After "boosting" the pig by right-clicking with your Carrot On A Stick, it's actually much faster. Have you guys ever tried boosting them for more speed?

If you guys really don't believe me, why don't I throw in some numbers then?

A boosted pig has an average speed of 8.0 m/s. Sprinting on foot is 5.6 m/s. And for the sake of comparison as well, a mine cart going down a 1/4-sloped track is 7.1 m/s, while a boat going down a 1/4-sloped rapid is 7.3 m/s.

Click here for the complete list of the average speeds of the types of transportation in the game.

Boosted saddled pigs are the second fastest entities as of 1.5, only just behind the player whilst flying in Creative mode (which is 10.8 m/s).

I seriously like to believe that you guys have no clue that you can boost saddled pigs. :P

will never understand the absolute, utter hatred people have towards updates. I paid like $20 or less for this game and I've been playing it for years. That's a fantastic return for my investment. And all you people can do is complain.

There's a difference between complaining ignorantly, which only aims to annoy, and criticizing rationally, which aims to improve what is being criticized. I've seen rational criticisms in this thread, and I agree with them. I don't see how horses should be added unless there's more to them than being faster than pigs, being an alternative to riding a pig, and having a portable chest with them, and I think they should focus more on polishing old existing features than adding more content at this moment. Not saying I "hate" new content -- I do like more animals, hostile monsters, underwater content, and, like enterthehole said, furniture for our houses. It's just that they should be more into polishing first.

It's like upgrading a PC. It's best that you have maintain and optimize the old hardware first before thinking about adding new hardware. And it's best that you don't waste money on new hardware for a purpose an old existing hardware already fulfills, unless you intend to replace that old hardware with it.

    Quote from KickFlow

Pigs were slow and VERY few people actually traveled by pig.

'Ya sure? I actually find the pigs rather uncontrollably fast especially after feeding them enough carrot with your Carrot In a Stick. The lack of an ability to make the pig slow down makes this more so. Or are you not aware of this feature?

    Quote from benjaminsaunders

Guys, I'm like 101% sure the thing this post is hinting at is pink withers. I mean come on, what else could it be?

I was thinking of the same -- pink Wither, and the girl in the pic is wearing pic if I'm seeing it right -- 'til I saw Jeb's Instagram which confirms the horse theory. Probably. I actually wish that there will be male and female versions of animals and villagers in the game. It doesn't make sense how the animals and human villagers in the game are freaking hermaphrodites... then again, a lot of things in Minecraft don't make sense anyway. xD

Still, I really like to think that there's more to this picture than the horse. Jeb has been known to post cryptic pictures in the past to reveal upcoming features, after all.

    Quote from frosttyiceman

pigs are to small and fat to carry a heavy human

Trees aren't light enough to defy gravity and float in midair, either. LOL. Actually, you can ride pigs in real-life (the adults, anyway). They're not only strong enough to carry the weight of the average human but also strong enough to walk and run while carrying one. Apart from that, though, what makes Minecraft unique is its fantasy elements, not its realism. Being able to ride pigs like horses is a part of this uniqueness that many love. ;-)

    AtheoAng3l0 posted a message on 1.4.5 Pre-Release Available!
Most of the complaints here are about the mods. In all the game modding communities I've been in, this is the very first time players would complain about mods breaking because of updates. Minecraft mods have indeed become a very important part of the game for many players.

But that is not good enough reason to complain.

Mods as of this moment are considered unofficial or third party. Technically, it is not the developers' fault that an unofficial feature of the game is broken by an update. This is unless developers provided an official mod support like an API or SDK, which in this case that is yet to happen. I bet the mod API Mojang's working on wont involve altering or replacing the code or the core files of the game itself. It'd be more like simply making "extensions" or external scripts that you can place on a certain folder where the game would just load them while the original code and files remain intact, similar to the CLEO ASI plug-in for Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas made by Seemann.

As a matter of fact, you should even be glad that the developers are this "kind" towards modders, which something I'd consider rare as a long-time casual modder of games before Minecraft, as there are developers that would even try to obfuscate the game as much as possible.

There are only very few developers that provide official mod support, like those who made Half-Life, Crysis and Doom who provide SDK's for their engines, allowing others to make mods or games based on their engines. I'd say Mojang are this kind by making these pre-releases, which sole purpose is to allow modders to update their mods ahead of the official release, in-active-development LWJGL-based Java game that you can't just make a SDK out of. Usually, developers just announce an upcoming update to both modders and players then release it, just letting the modders keep up with the update by their own. They never give them a hand by giving them the very update before the update's official release like Mojang is doing. Mojang's pre-releases are the first of their kind. Correct me if I'm wrong, though.

So far, all of these bug-fixing updates concern major bugs. 1.4.5 concerns LAN issues, and as someone who prefers the new LAN feature than making a separate server I find this update very helpful. Consecutive pre-releases concerning only minor bugs or very tiny changes would indeed be something to complain about, because they would ruin the whole point of pre-releases.

Ermahgerd, so many pointless updates. :|
Why can't they fix bugs with out "updating"? I know they have done that at least once. :/

You can't... These bug fixes concern the code of the game itself. They can't be fixed without changing the code. Saying you can fix bugs without updating would be like saying you can code without coding. LOL.

I barely call them "pointless" since they're about making the game more stable and playable. You guys are only frustrated because Mojang has never released this many bug-fixing updates before. Wouldn't you be more pleased instead, since they're finally giving these bugs more attention than before? You've been asking for it, and now Mojang has finally considered your requests. These updates are now just a thing you all have to get used to. ;)

I say I'd wait for this update to be officially released. I would really like a more stable LAN server.

I'm glad that I decided to wait for any bug-fixing updates for the Pretty Scary Update before updating my Minecraft. Would've just downloaded the pre-release, though, since both this and the full release are pretty much the same (but with the latter downloadable via Minecraft's launcher as an official major update), but I thought of waiting a bit more for my favorite mods to get updated for 1.4.4. I hope this is the last update for 1.4 and the next update would be 1.5. They have the Bug Tracker, after all, so they should've had the opportunity to fix every major bug that needed fixing in 1.4.

    Quote from Prime_Jetspace

My internet is being dumb and the "Edit post" button is missing, but I'd like to add to my previous post, is the only difference between pre-releases and the final version just bug fixes or do they actually add some new features?

    Quote from StickDemonic

There would be a couple of bugfixes and some new tweaks here and there, nothing major.

    Quote from Rufus

Barring any last minute bug fixes, this is essentially what we get. The pre-release is just a final chance for players to report any game breaking issues before the update goes live next week.

There's actually no difference between the official release and the pre-release, that is except the pre-release is released much sooner but can only be downloaded manually and not via the game's launcher. The purpose of the pre-release is to allow modders and texture pack artists to update their mods/texture packs ahead of the official release.

If they were to make bug fixes between the pre-release and the official release, they'd make changes in the code that would make mods made based on the pre-release incompatible even if it's the tiniest bug fix, which would ruin the whole purpose of having the pre-release for modders in the first place. If bug fixing is needed, they would need to make a 1.4.1 (which would mean another pre-release so mods can update their mods for that version).

    ;)

Aww, I thought there'll be fridges in 1.4. That would've otherwise been a nice addition: Food could finally expire and in order to preserve them you need to put them in a cooler made up of a chest filled with ice. LOL.

Speaking of 1.4, I'm still wishing they'd finally implement a campfire feature in the vanilla game. This would definitely fit the "Pretty Scary Update", IMO.

Imagine: It's one of those noob-y nights in Minecraft where dusk comes and you traveled way too far from your house, without any map to guide you back, and with crap-ton of valuable stuff with you that you can't afford losing, and you decided to have a makeshift camp where you could stay safe 'til dawn comes.

Then at midnight, under a full moon, a horde of hungry zombies sees the campfire you made and comes to your camp threatening to eat your brains and take your stuff... since they can.

That would be one awesome Halloween update. XD
