Well. Good news is I got it to work finally. Bad news is after playing for a hour when I exited my cave and came to the surface most of the land was "invisible" and I could see all the cave systems below the world! >.<
----edit---
On a side note I take it mods will be easier to add tot he game in future updates? THoguht I read somewhere that theres an update which allows for easy modding. I hate beind a mod noob lmao.
Well I tried it that way, opening minecraft after I pasted over the texture zip. When I started the game and tried to select the texture pack, the game froze and crashed. Now it won't get past the logo. >.<
Maybe it is that Java issue. I will try that and see if it works then.
Well after downloading the right versions and remoinv/reinstalling Minecraft (and even watching the tutorial) it still crashes! I can at least now drag the High Res file into the textures folder and then I click "Done" but when I go to SP its still the default textures. I go back to that texture selector and then it freezes! >.<
---edit---
I wanted to post the steps I took. Maybe I somehow missed something.
-Deleted .Minecraft folder.
-Ran "Minecraft" to forced an update.
-After it updated ad went to menu I exited Minecraft.
-Ran "MCPatcher 2.0.1"
-Clicked Patch and once it was done closed it.
-Ran "Minecraft"
-Went to the "Textures" section in game.
-Clicked "Open Texture Folder"
-Dragged the High Res texture zip into the folder.
-Waited a minute or two.
-Closed the Explorer window.
-Tried running a SP level.
-Level is still using Default.
-Went back to Texture selector and Minceraft crashes.
BTW I tried making anew level and loading an old one but crashes either way or doesn't have the high res pack!
----edit....again----
I noticed you said if running Windows 7 64bit you need Java 64bit. Well I uninstalled my Java, restarted the pc, installed the 64 bit version for Win 7, restarted again. But under the java program in the control panel it still says its 32 bit. >.< Maybe thats the issue.
Guess that would help lol. When I test it, it says:
Launching C:\Users\<removed>\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\bin\minecraft.jar
java -cp "C:\Users\<removed>\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\bin/minecraft.jar;C:\Users\<removed>\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\bin/lwjgl.jar;C:\Users\<removed>\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\bin/lwjgl_util.jar;C:\Users\<removed>\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\bin/jinput.jar;" "-Djava.library.path=C:\Users\Boba Fett\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\bin\natives" -Xmx2048M -Xms512M net.minecraft.client.Minecraft
Error occurred during initialization of VM

Could not create the Java virtual machine.
Minecraft exited with status 1
I know it says not enough space. But I've tried every number from 2048 to 8000. lol. As for my specs they are pretty crappy :tongue.gif: :
-Quad Core AMD Phenom X4 9750
-Heatsink/CPU cooler
-ATI RADEON HD 4850 1GB DDR3 PCI Express Graphics Card
-8GB Ram
-CD/DVD-DL Lightsribe writer)
-750 Watt Antec Power Supply.
-750 Gig HD and a 1TB HD (WD's)
-750 Backup MyBook
-Win 7
-G9X Mouse
-10+ Fans
-Fatality Sound Card (Sound Blaster)
What I meant by "High Res option" is when you go to the texture option in Mineraft to I assume choose your textures it shows you "Default" and whatever else you installed. At that point the High Res pack I installed is grayed out and the program crashes. If it helps this is what I mean:
Well I got it installed right this time and it started up. But when I went to the Texture folder in game the "High Res" options was grayed out and the game froze! I tried three more times and had the same problem. >.<
Pardon my stupidity. I have never got modding or anything but I seen the first page of this and downloaded the HD Patcher and ran it and patched it. Then I took this mod and extracted it to the "Texture" folder. But the game just crashes. And yes I tried that Java update and "Heapsize" thing but nothing helps. Was there some kind of new info in the 300+ pages on here? lol
I want to find lots of monster spawners. Mainly to raid them for there chests. There an easy way to find them or is pretty much digging for hours the only way?
I ask because I am beyond lost and don't really want to gather stuff for a compass. Can I just die and keep my stuff or no matter the mode will I lose stuff when I die?

While the textures are all updated, I don't have that tall grass or bushy looking thing like in the pictures though. >.<

I can't seem to find any of that red ore. I've searched for over an hour. Maybe I should just dig straight down at my home bases cave.
