The texture pack used is Coterie Craft. Although it's entirely optional.
I have written a retrospective on the map to hopefully shine light upon my inactivity and the sequel.
The rapid updates to Minecraft didn't help either, while bringing in new features it also brought generation changes. The original map was was flat stone world generated in Beta 1.6 and up until to Beta 1.7, everything was fine, the map stable. Then Minecraft 1.0 came along and brought with it its new terrain generation and a change in the overall map structure. The update broke many of the mechanisms throughout the map using redstone. Many of the chunks thankfully outside of the play area were corrupted. Eventually I had to transport and copy most of the map elements onto a new flat world using MC Edit onto 1.0. The transition wasn't exactly the most tranquil one however, many core elements of the map remain broken and/or disappeared such as entities (signs/paintings). I got a stable build to work eventually, this was around 2012 I believe.
Me being in the late stages of high school during this time led to a more busy lifestyle and did not have the time to develop the map. I had to focus on my studies and had to set gaming aside. I stopped working on the map for a good half year and during that time I got burned out from playing Minecraft and took a small hiatus.

Diamond Comet II: Update and a retrospective
It's been four years since the release of Destroy the Diamond Comet and since that time the map has been played over 90,000 times, both by dedicated Minecrafters and YouTubers who have helped promote the map.I have written a retrospective on the map to hopefully shine light upon my inactivity and the sequel.
Creation
This map started as a fun small project during high school during the beta days of Minecraft. It actually didn't start off as a puzzle map rather a new survival world. For those of you who wandered beyond the boundaries of the map you might see remnants of old creations during its time as a survival world. I've built a few rooms in which it required me to use clever ways to get to. Those rooms eventually led to me thinking that these might work in a puzzle map! That was evidently the start of Destroy the Diamond Comet. In the beginning, the map was created first and the story was created around the map. I wanted to make the story fit with the theme of being trapped inside a building filled with puzzles which resulted in the Portal inspired story line. I didn't really have a defined outline of how the map would progress and would just build room after room. The comet was born from the idea of wanting the player to blow up something. With each room showing and teasing bits of the comet to create anticipation. And on June 26, 2011, Destroy the Diamond Comet was released for all.Succession
The immediate reaction to Diamond Comet was staggering to say the least, I never expected the map to garner this much attention. Over the course of that week the map has been downloaded around 4,000 times and kept climbing. The success led to me immediately working on a sequel. I wanted the next map to be bigger, better, more exciting, to have more things to do. I started carefully planning the story and the base world to begin with. I began drawing and sketching what the map would look like; early on in the development process I wanted it to be set in a city; for which I love building. The city design was still largely open albeit had to be traversed through linearly. Several roadblocks were littered throughout to keep the player within boundaries. Ultimately this was a huge project that had many many things to work on which eventually led to its cancellation. The rapid updates to Minecraft didn't help either, while bringing in new features it also brought generation changes. The original map was was flat stone world generated in Beta 1.6 and up until to Beta 1.7, everything was fine, the map stable. Cancellation
September rolled around and yeah, I'm now in college with now even LESS time to work on this project. In the meantime the map transitioned from what once was supposed to be Diamond Comet II to a a city map, to just continue building the city without a story. This was the state of the map for 2013 - 2014. The map has since been like this.Future
I have spent countless hours on DC II's map that I can't abandon it. I am thinking of making it into a museum map since its a ghost town anyway. I'd fill it with notes and commentary on how the map should have been or story bits. Anyway to all anticipiting its release, I'm sorry. It's just that my desire for Minecraft has been long gone after playing it for hours on end. I have since moved on from Minecraft, heading to engineering in college. Thanks for all players that have played Diamond Comet over the years! The final map of Ore City
Development Notes
[ Updated: DD/MM/YYYY | 11/11/2011 ]
Yey! There is a sequel that is in progress, as you can see from the image. It is set on a modern-day city, (no name for the city yet.) It's still very linear, like the first map. Although I plan to have some exploration involved. The story isn't complete yet, lots of work to be done still. I don't have a fixed release date set on the release, but I expect it to be released sometime on late August/early September.(See below) Anyways, that's all the info I'm going to give out for now!
Percentage Completion: 50.23% - Halfway-ish done - still needed to do a couple of buildings
Update 2: From the pictures below, you can see what I have been up to. This is one of the stores/puzzle rooms inside a mall. It's called "Nether's Kitchen." An obvious parody on the TV show, Hell's Kitchen. Although, it may not look like it, there is a puzzle involved inside this store. You'll see once it's released. The mall will be fairly large, consisting with alot of stores and rooms. I will be going to spend alot of time on it. So far, only this and a couple of shops have been done. Stay tuned!
A walk-in freezer, wonder what that could be?
Update 3: Here's a preview of the mall, it is still not finished, only about the front is done, the parking entrance is on the side there, as you can see. "Nether's Kitchen" is somewhere on the second floor. Anyways, I don't know what the 1.8 update will do, hopefully it wouldn't cause much problems with this current world. The new blocks should come in really helpful for more textures/building varieties. Ah, the release date, do not expect it to be out during these first few days of September, as I am barely finished, and school is starting. So I will have less time to work on it. That's about it for now.
The front side.
Those fountains are a PAIN. Squids keep spawning in them. >_>
A little snapshot of the parking lot. Why is it empty? Hmmm...
Update 4: Since 1.8's introduction of hunger and sprinting. I figured I would add this fast-food restaurant for your hunger needs! (no name yet ) I'm still playing on 1.7.3 because I need WorldEdit. Anyways, there's update 4 for you! (the fences are for the pressure plates)
Update 5: Yeah! Another update, anyways, here is another location located in the city of .. uhh, well I don't know yet. It is a construction site, building a building obviously, but why are there no people working? You'll find out once it comes out. Lots of scaffolding and stilts...
Update #6: Ore Park! Yes, there's finally a name for one location of this city. It's a medium-sized park, with a few amenities. Such as a lake side restaurant, recreational boating, and swimming! Have fun jogging along the perimeter or go bird watching for various birds (chickens.) *The following photos were taken at night time.*
Update #7: Transportation! Behold, the Ore Bridge connecting Downtown and the suburbs together! No car? It's all good thanks to the city's underground/above ground subway!
Pedestrian walk way.
