Why? Flattening that large an area isn't difficult. Or is it just because you are incapable of doing something like that and would just resort to map editing?
Don't know how to map edit, so I guess I just think flattening that large an area is difficult.
Oh, so because you're incapable of doing it in a legitimate manner, noone is. Right, I didn't realise you were the most skilled Minecraft player on the planet. If you can't do it, anyone else that did must have used hax. Righto, thanks for the clarification.

Everything I make (building wise) is straight out of my head, with the exception of the voxel dome I built, that was from blueprints (had to be really). Only other thing I use blueprints for is complex redstone wiring.

Planning is way too much work for a game thats supposed to be fun.
I like to have structures being kind of harmonically integrated in the surrounding landscape.
Your landscape and constructions make noise? OARSUM!
Sorry, I couldn't resist the misuse of that word =P
Use an editing mod to change your spawn point. Use loleditor (viewtopic.php?f=25&t=26125) to do this. Eventually there will probably be some kind of bindpoint system in the game.
[] <-----this must be the North East corner of the tower

= Water (1 source block at the top of the tower will suffice, if you want the "watervator" to be fast you must use a source block on every level, possibly every second level)
[] = nothing, must be the North East corner of your "watervator"
Stand har up against the corner of [] and press and hold jump. Either make a pool of water to jump down into, or "slide" down the corner again to reach the bottom.
And all of our torches will become lanterns... couldn't we just like clear out a huge area and fill it with torches so when the update comes out we'll have a TON of lanterns we can place anywhere.
And I only say they'll be moderately difficult to make because why would torches and lanterns be really easy to make? Everyone would just make torches...
And yes, the pyramid. I didn't see that coming. See, I thought it was well-lit enough to keep monsters out. I could make the floor obsidian... or I could just make it well-lit enough that there are no monsters. Which would be better?
No way, it was awesome going down that minecart track and then seeing a whole bunch of bad guys trying to eat your face off, I was like, "HOLY ****!!" My roommate came out and asked me, "What the **** just happened!?" I replied, "I just took a minecart down to this room and it's full of creepers, skeletons and zombies!". He shook his head and walked back into his room mumbling something about nerds.
Blocks affected by gravity (sand, gravel) are no longer "broken" when they hit a halfslab or torch in the new snapshot. Poor fix for sand generators, or a blunder in the phantomblock/efficiency fix?

It still takes a mild amount of effort to harvest all the wood and coal to make a tonne of torches.

Already done in my map.
