posted a message on Custom Ore Generation: First Revival
I have an easy question (I hope). I have the mod installed, but ore distribution remains unchanged. Even changing the settings in the GUI to the max does nothing. Do I have to trigger something in the configs to enable the mod? Using the debug mod does nothing, as far as I can see.

Great mod! Quick question: do metallurgy attributes carry over to smelted tinkers weapons? I made some poison vyroxeres arrows and a few flame ignatius arrows and they don't seem to light things on fire or poison enemies. The arrows say in the tool-tip they have Poison I and Flame I respectively, but I see no results. Is this a known bug?

I really love this editor! It combines the terrain with structures in a way I've always wanted to do but never had the courage to try. There is one disappointing bug though. Every time I try and do a treasure hunt, all the books are filled with '*invalid book tag*' pages. Can this be fixed by doing something to my save?

I would also like to know what these values are. I can try experimenting .. but I don't know what will come of it.

EDIT: This is as close as I can get: scroll the Height Stretch down to about 1. If I go much lower it crashes, and 1 makes it almost the same. I tested it with the same seed. Amplified and Customized+HeightStretch 1.0 are almost (but not quite) identical.

Just wanted to say, this looks really cool. I came to post about that bug everyone has been having with 20d, but I guess it's been fixed now! I've never had that happen before, something being fixed before I even get to complain about it. Well done.

posted a message on Improving LAN performance
So a friend and I are having a few LAN issues that we could use some help with. I just got a new computer to avoid issues on my end, but a new set of issues has appeared on his end. Any help would be appreciated! Here are the issues he's having:

    * Lag. Standard stuff, health not updating, movement updates happening slowly, looking around is glitchy, stuff like that.

    * BUTTONS STICKING! This is the big one. It's never happened before, and switching the key bindings doesn't help. For some reason, keys will stick and he will be stuck going forward, or jumping, or somthing like that until he pauses and unpauses the game. Why is this happening now and never before? We haven't updated Java, but maybe there is another type of program that can cause this?

And that's about it. Just two issues. Solving even one would be great. Thanks in advance for any responses!

    An Open Letter to Mojang
    (And the Coders of Minecraft):

Hi! I hope this makes it to someone up in Minecraft development. I have been sitting on my excitement for over a year, and I hope that someone up there reads this.

    ---

So I hear the next Minecraft update has to do with Biomes and World Generation. You cannot imagine how long I have waited for this. Since the early days of Minecraft I have been an explorer in your vast Sandbox and have loved every minute of it. This game has utilized the best World Generation techniques in the book to generate a unique and personal experience for me in Minecraft.

But I think Minecraft can do better.

Minecraft is a game of unlimited potential, but my favorite part of the game, the core element of Exploration, is limited. The secrets and challenges that can be unlocked, in all their random iterations, are fun and exciting the first few times around, but even for me exploration gets stale on the hundredth World. I think that Minecraft can become a game where every exploration is unique, and every journey is a journey into the unknown. And, if you can spare a minute more of your time, I have a glimmering of an idea.

It begins with the existing structure of a Minecraft World. Currently, a Minecraft adventurer begins their journey on the surface of a varied world, and explores its many secrets. With persistence, they can make it to the Hellish world of the Nether, where a new array of challenges await. Finally, after mastering both worlds, the player can journey to the End, and we both know the secrets there.

What I envision is an expansion of this idea. An expansion that takes this from a limited, linear progression to an unlimited, varied, and sandbox-esque progression. In this way the World will appeal to Minecraft's core theme, and put the mystery back in Minecraft. Currently, biomes form the structure of a Minecraft world. I believe this is backwards. I believe that it is the structure that determines the elements of the game and their place in it, not the other way around.

There are two different ways you can take this. First is the obvious: The physical structure of Minecraft (IE Geography) determines the placement of its elements (IE Biomes). I don't need to go into this, it has been talked about almost as long as the game has been around. Cold biomes are in one direction, hot in the other. There shouldn't be too much mixing. Deserts appear in rain-shadows, and rivers flow to the ocean (I can dream, right?). You don't have to make this a copy of reality, in fact I don't think you should, but create a structure that makes sense. The biomes will follow.

The second interpretation of this statement on structure is what I believe is most important. You can take this statement on a higher level, and realize that what I am trying to say is that the structure of The Game (IE Minecraft) should determine the elements within it (IE Progression), and furthermore that this structure should be just as unlimited as the worlds in which we play. What do I mean by this? Right now, the structure of the game is simple: get from A to B, from Punching trees to slaying a dragon, and in the meantime explore the limitless possibilities of the world. But in every game I must build a 4x5 obsidion portal to get to the nether. I must kill 12 Endermen and 12 Blaze Powder to get to the end, and I must find a Stronghold. I think that limiting the game like this is unfair.

What I envision is an expansion of this concept. Instead of traveling from A to B on a straight line (1D), expand it so I can play in 2D, so that to get to the Nether an obsidion portal doesn't always work. Sometimes I might have to brave a pit of lava to enter a witch's magic well. Sometimes I might have to find a bedrock portal far beneath a hellish wood. And in the far future, as Minecraft becomes the new World Religion, the Nether won't be my only option, and the dimensions I can travel to are as limitless and varied as the surface world. But for the next update, if you can, inject a little randomness to the restricting elements of the game. In that way, perhaps one day I can ride a flying pig into the far reaches of the sky and fight the dragon atop a fire-breathing stallion.

So if you are still reading, think about it. It doesn't have to be fancy, but I would like it unique. Minecraft should be a sandbox, not an RPG. And it is infinity that defines the difference. An infinite world to explore, an infinite canvas on which to build, and infinite pathways to explore. I love Minecraft, it has changed my life in several real and impacting ways, and I hope to continue playing it for a long time to come. Thank you for all your hard work and dedication, and thank you for reading.

    From my World to yours,
    Armeleon

I seem to remember that JadedCat took out my grapes so you can use the grapes from the other smaller farming mod that also allows for wine and such. I may be mis-remembering so make sure to check.

Ah. So its a compatibility issue then. The Growthcraft Wine crops aren't cross compatible. I'll see if I can go bug the right person then. Thanks for the help, and keep up the amazing work.

Love the mod. I Am using it as part of the Magic Farm FTB pack, and I have some amazing farms going on. The hunger mod really makes it useful and fun. Quick question: I recently updated the pack and grapes no longer work. I can't grow them, I can't make juice out of them, and all of my grape plants disappeared. Is this a bug you are aware of, or should I ask the mod of the FTB pack?

posted a message on Minecraft World Gen Question
I have a question about world gen. I have a randomized template in Minecraft I want to implement into minecraft. I want to create one new instance of this class every time a new world loads. Where do I need to initialize it? Right now, I have it initialized in my IWorldGen generator method, but this creates a new instance every time you open the world again.

If you're using the FTB launcher, there should be a drop-down to select any available version of a modpack you want to use.

This is awesome. Thanks Zeeth! Those 100 hours were not wasted after all! Back to the game!

So... in past seasons it's always kind of annoyed me when I would go back to old episodes to figure out how to do something, but could never guess which episode I needed. I eventually found what I was looking for, but it always took longer than I wanted. So for Season 5, I've been keeping track of everything that's going on in a Google Doc.

    https://docs.google....eEI5ElWx6Y/edit

If this helps or you think this is useful, go ahead and share it with other people. I'll try to keep it current. My email's in the Doc, and I welcome all corrections. I'm working on something for the Season 4 Multi-player, but I'm pretty far behind, so it's not worth sharing at the moment.

Very helpful. I tried doing this same thing, except with a transcript attached. Never again, waaay too much work

My roommate and I play DW's pack on LAN and are having a crash due to the leaking worlds problem. We have made sure to have the latest update installed (as of February 23) but this does not fix the problem. Is there any way we could back-date the modpack to the previous version? We backed up a save right before the update. If anyone has access to one we'd appreciate it.

It is, the whole pack is forge-based. You might want to try without the minimap mod as it may cause quite a bit of lag. Are you actually even sure that you're lagging because you're running out of RAM? Could it be your processor or GPU?

Could be. I do get a lot of lag, but I have had minecraft crash my graphics card before. It went all buggy and green then all the voxels disappeared. It was not a good day. But I've been fiddling around with optifine and disabling some mods and I'm starting to get it down a little bit.

Dungeon Keeper 2 has become abandonware(free, legal download), and is amazing playing LAN.
Diablo 2 is also a long, nice experience with a friend or two.
Black & White is really fun to play if you're more than two, although you could just play against bots as well. (If you can get the multiplayer to work).

I looked at Diablo, but I'm going to have to look up dungeon keeper. That could work. We'll give it a go. And I'll take a look at the other one too. Thanks !

That mod makes your FPS a bit higher.
Look it uo, it is a really popular mod.

Ooh, good idea. I've heard of it, but thought it was just for graphics. Maybe I don't have to switch.
