I prefer multiplayer myself. Got a small server running on my home desktop that me and a few friends are playing on. Don't want any idiots wrecking our work, considering how much has been put in to a lot of the construction we've got going on. From the mountain top Fortress, to the high walled Tempest City, the seaport, and even an Ancient Greece inspired city.
For some reason, no matter how I go about installing NEI, its not being loaded with the other mods I'm trying to run. I add in Forge (6.4.1.408), then even just adding in CodeChickenCore (0.6.11) followed by NEI (1.4.2.9), then check the Mods screen, they don't show. Attempting to use the shortcut in game obviously doesn't work.
I've tried using NEI (1.4.2.7) with a couple other Forge versions (6.4.1.395/397) with the same results. Using the newest NEI with either of those results in a crash.
I have also used both the Minecraft exe and MultiMC to run/install the mods.
Right now, my main floor is made form wood, but once I have the resources and materials for it, I plan on replacing the entire floor and turning it into one big solar power plant, complete with around 100 solar panels.
I find personally that the shelf-farm method works best, but thats just me. Can make a nice enclosed greenhouse using it too. Like the design otherwise though.
Nuclear reactor fueled force field generator, backed up by tesla coils. If they somehow get past the force field, the tesla coils, plus the optional passive-killer, HV wires, will do for anyone that does. Worse case, last-resort nuclear self destruct of the entire base, taking at least most of the invaders with the base.
Note: This is, of course, only possible if your server has Industrialcraft running on it :tongue.gif:
- Cobblestone generator
- Control room (with redstone torches and levers, etc)
- Three farm
- Mob grinder!
- Emergency escape hatch
- Kitchen
- Food storage
- Mushroom farm
and so on.. :tongue.gif:
Could get the IndustrialCraft mod, add in a power generator like Water, solar, wind, or nuclear, or even coal/bio-fuel, and set up a force field generator to protect your main surface access. Would also let you do some funky stuff with automated defeses such as the Tesla coil, use HV Transformers to actually make a hall that does nothing but kill anyone dumb enough to try getting in.
Halo is (from what I read, have not played it) a Dyson Ring as well.
The Halo rings are just rings that orbit planets like a moon would, they don't actually encircle anything, but they are built with a sustained enviroment and atmosphere, and the rings rotation provides the gravity (If its not artificially generated itself). I think the Forerunner Installation in Halo 3 might even be just a station outside of the galaxy, but I haven't played it in a while, so can't remember.
OT: Good luck. I got sick of digging an area for a 50x50 mob tower...
A Self Destruction Button (A button for emergencies) (Not really recommended)
To expand on this, have it tied into an escape minecart system. Hop in, hit the button, and escape as your base is being destroyed and killing the invaders. Plan on eventually doing that in mine for fun.
When I read Mountain Home, I thought right away you meant Manetheren from Wheel of Time lol. Aside from that little bit of sadness, looks good :tongue.gif:

I played that briefly in a Blockbuster so many years ago... *shudder* So glad that didn't take off.
