Are these all the server admins with ban, kick, and other moderation privileges?
What about players that have ban and kick only, such as OPs, mods, etc. Should some of these players be mods instead?
The server is ready to go. I'm waiting on the presence of server admins to be ready and lead the builders and organize the initial constuction before I change them map over and turn on the whitelist. So far, Daemios is off playing WoW, Plasma_panda is MIA, I'm just running the server, I have never seen Dala, IVI, blah or chewy, Stas and Panda are both in limbo.
A new map was rolled out sans Ghasts, since a lot of people complained about the FPS lag from them. (If you cried about them because you were bad and didn't know how to dig underground to get away from the Ghasts' barrage then you suck)
@potatoorgy Dont think so. Something is just messed up in your server/game. If its vanila. report it as a bug. otherwise remake your server file. mayby some bad mod/plugin that causing it.
@Hakaslak Probaly because your cpu got better support for virtualization now.
2ndly NEVER USE HYPERTHREADING on servers.
3rd dont know if hyper-v can give more cpu cycles to a VM then 1 cpu core is. Like in esx you can say. give that vm 1core and a cpu of 4GHz while the hardware is like quad core 2GHz. ( so it binds 2 cpus as 1 )
Mayby a tip for new servers. if its a full dedi. try ESXi on it. and make a VM with 1 cpu and all the free cpu cycles to it. mayby that way you can bypass the single threaded problem and get a 8GHz looking cpu for your overpowered minecraft server ! :tongue.gif: ( THIS IS NOT FOR NOOBIES!!! )
I did not know that ESXi could do that... pretty sure vpshere is free, not sure on licensing for ESXi.
I understand your point, but the old server ran for a time on a 3.06GHz X3480 that would turbo up to 3.73, and frankly, every user I've asked has said this new server is smoother. It is the same VM, that has just been migrated over from the old Hyper-V server. While I agree that the game is not multithreaded, when you are running multiple hosts, there is a performance boost to having more real cores available versus more hyperthreaded cores.
But anyway, as you have probably already figured this is not a dedicated server for just Minecraft, seeing that the JVM won't really use more than 6GB from my own experiments, and Hyper-V only allows 4 logical CPUs. The rest will be other minor services.
The reason it runs on Hyper-V/Windows and not Xen/linux is because I am a Windows admin by training, and I am not comfortable runninga linux environment in production. That, and I am comfortable with Active Directory more than whatever you would use on linux that is comparable for server management.
over 300 ghasts blowing up the world, with me spawning tnt all over the place and detonating it.
I'm also testing the antigriefing measures, so there is that as well. So far, the only hting people can still do is move faster than normal, but WorldGuard is doing it's job with preventing spawning and item dropping.

Dual Opteron 6128 Magny-Cours
8x4GB ECC RDIMM 1333MHz Kingston ram
8GB ramdisk for Minecraft.
Server 2008 R2 Datacenter
Java 6 r22 (7 was crashing and causing micro rollbacks)
I need to figure out how to get 100 people on at once to test it.
IP in sig - it's going whitelist soon so I don't care if people blow it up :smile.gif:

IP is hakaslak.com.
Hyper-V has a restriction of 4 CPUs per VM, but it shouldn't matter as Minecraft isn't that multithreaded.
